One fun interaction with the class is with the Talisman that activates when an ally uses a magic attack to give yourself -50% magic attack in order to buff their magic attack by +50%. The negative part counts as a debuff and will immediately trigger Remove Weakness to get rid of the penalty and give yourself an auto evade charge. So you can massively buff an allies damage while also not lowering your own and possibly negate an enemy attack against you.

I also prefer the sword attack over the column magic atk, the enemies you go up against using this, I feel like they're making the fight easy for me since I far prefer getting hit by that over their sword atk, also I'm playing on normal difficulty.
I'm wondering if the elven fencer has any hard-counters to it. I'm using them myself and they've become one of my strongest units!
I'm very much enjoying the variety in unit-building in UO. I think it'll be a fun game to keep playing and also replay.

Would love a guide on the greartshield/axe unit (berengaria).. She's really under rated imo. Just haven't gone into enough theory crafting with her yet but i would assume you want affliction units all around her to really shine.
I was thinking either rogue with a mix of either the units that freeze/stun. (Warlock/sorceress/some of the elvin hybrid classes, etc)..
Anyways just would love to see what you come up with a unit dedicated to her.
This game has so many awesome styles of tanks

In my experience you don’t really care for a thief with her. She’s gonna be the one on the frontline taking all the hits ( if somehow the enemies manage to survive long enough to do so) with her solid bulk and constant hp gain from her pursuit skill and if you’re really using a thief just for ranged poison that’s just a direct downgrade to shield shooter since that does noticeable damage while poisoning can heal and very effectively handles fliers which can be a shaky matchup for debuff comp otherwise. And you don’t really need freezes or stuns beside her so burn and poison are the ideal afflictions to aim for since they aren’t just taking extra damage from her aoe from being afflicted the stun gives the damage over time another proc. She does literally perma stun columns at a time you don’t need more stuns. She also notably wants to be going after her party applies afflictions so you’ll probably want 1 dragonbone gear on her and then fine toon the party’s initiative so everyone is faster then the opponent after she nerfs all their initiatives down significantly but she’s the slowest in the party but just faster then the opponent. You are gonna want a lot of initiative equipment with varying values but in most cases you won’t want anyone else using a start of battle skill so she can use hers. Probably best to use a wyvern with the true strike accessory for fliers as your form of breaking through evade tanks for fire breath and if you want a dedicated mage go wizard for the burn. Plus you get flight which is handy. And you can opt for just giving someone a burning or viper blade. Radiant knight is probably the best option for giving a class that doesn’t innately have the ability to spread status in order to fit the comp of what I’ve seen but you’d only be considering it for the ability to negate magic but that requires there to be magic users dead after the first wave of attacks in the back line to be relevant since once something is stunned by her it’s probably dead. Druids are also a consideration with that staff that lets them burn a whole column but it lowers the value you get out of the enemies being afflicted by not triggering many pursuit attacks. You don’t really wanna minimize the actions taken to afflict targets since more actions mean more pursuit attacks and she gets SO much value out of sanguine pursuit. And other characters in her unit are better users of ap accessories then her for this reason. You also get an extra sanguine pursuit since she basically can keep pursuing forever with a properly setup comp.

Who underrates her? She's a top-tier unit. Especially when you get her.
The deathspin attack is S-tier+ when you get it. Good damage and stun to an entire row for 1 ap? Yes please. And even more damage if they are already afflicted? Double yes please!
The start of battle debuff is also really good. Her other attack that removes 1 ap is decent as well and her persuit PP ability is good as well.
It barely even matter what you do with her, she's always going to be good. If you want to make her god-tier, just run some aoe affliction.

Not totally related - I made a totally OP team comp that's like a successor to your ice griffin... I have both a witch and an elven fencer in the team. It uses a wyvern with dragoon spear to all-attack, I am using the flame tome to fire buff it. Cat ear hood quick impetus charges instantly. Then I have the axe general lady on the front getting ice attack buffed and doing death spin to freeze the front row.
It's super funny, I just started trying it in online battles and the dragoon attack normally just wipes most of the team. The axe lady drops their initiative immediately, then freezes frontline blockers.

Hey Iced. My issue with the Quick Barrier is that it doesn’t discern between a truestrike or not so you could waste your PP on an attack that your dodge tank can easily evade. Also, where’d you get the Mage’s Gloves? Just started Elfheim after clearing Drakenhold.

I tried using the fencer, but I can't really get them to work. Don't get me wrong, they aren't bad, they are however very mid.
I tried several different ways to build and place them, but it will always fall short of another unit. You can for example try to build it to be similar to a swordmaster, but it's going to be less tanky and because it's also slower, it's going to take even more extra damage.
Keeping it alive in the frontline just isn't worth the effort imo. Especially since its dodge PP ability is pretty situational.
Meanwhile in the back row its competing with a lot of different good units. The auger for example seems to fill a similar role, though seems strictly better due to her much superior support abilities.
The elven fencer passive abilities are just too situational. There are plenty of times he can't use any of them, or that he can only use them when you don't really need them anymore.
So the only way to make this unit work is to give the fencer an item with a good support ability.
The main thing that comes to mind are those conferral tomes. The witch and wizard however have more synergy with the ice and fire one respectively. That just leaves the blood one, which is good enough I guess, though has less synergy. I believe there also is a thunder one that adds stun to an attack. I haven't tried it yet, though now that I think about it, this does sound pretty good. So maybe the thunder brand tome?
That magic counter item is also better on different casters.
Haven't tried the defensive ring yet. Maybe that works? Seems like yet another situational item to me though.
And to add to the misery, there are also too few items that play into this characters role. Too few good physical/magic sword and too few accessories that play into that as well.
I don't know. This unit just seems like an allrounder that excels at nothing and needs support from items that just aren't there or are better used on other characters.
    Ps.
You should really go to the other area. It has several VERY good unique characters. You also don't have to finish one area to go to the other. You can combine them.

My favorite item to give to them so far has been the necromancer's lantern. It lets them contribute some extra damage with the initial hit + poison, as well as reduce damage taken with blind. Might not be top tier, but it's still been pretty useful in my experience.
They also make good use of the familiar choker since they can remove the debuff from themselves.

Just got to the elf area in the game, where do you hire the female elf fencer merc?
    *edit*
The town is Voryatan Citadel. For those wondering, complete this quest in Elheim and you can start recruiting Female Fencers.
