      His clean tone is so evenly balanced that I swear there's a compressor hiding somewhere. I know there isn't, though with my peasant hands that's the only way I can come close to sounding like His Ericness. :)

    When the guitar looks like a piano. I have always followed Eric, I love his technique especially his pentatonic runs. But above all his music. Great source of inspiration. Thanks for everything Eric ❤️

      His lead tone is like a dream relationship between butter and bacon. You get the smooth goodness of the butter, but just a beast of a meaty flavor from the melodies.

    Has anyone notice the middle and neck pickup poles for the B string are very low, lower than any other? Hmmm.

      That’s pretty typical of single coils afaik as it was thought the B string tends to overpower the G and high-E.

    I play pedal steel but cannot do that claw grip with the standard pick.

    I wonder why does the top E string have a modern saddle and the rest vintage style ones?

      He says the graphite in the modern saddle takes some of the top end off the high E and balances it better with the B and G. Check out some of his interviews on the new Virginia Strat where he explains it much better than me!

    How do you ‘pick out’ on a downstroke?

      You either don't or you roll your hand so that the pick is digging in like on the upstroke. Lots of very advanced players put a lot of effort into structuring the pattern of their picking to put the up or down stroke where they want it. They're not just mindlessly picking, they're thinking about how to do it so the "pick out' if that's what they want happens on the notes that matter, or happens as often as possible.

      Isaac Biehl Eric is only 10 or so years older, but they’re both unarguably some of the greatest at what they do.

    Who knows EJ's string gauge? Maybe I missed it. 11, 10, 9 or 8?

      In an interview in the 80s, he said he used straight 10-46. In his instructional "The Fine Art of Guitar" he said he used 10-50, which I believe the exact gauges of those are 10, 13, 18, 26, 38, 50.

    I've tried that Jazz iii pick and now I realize why I never liked it, I as most players, strum a lot, the Jazz iii is not good for strumming (at least for me) Thanks for the vid
