You got it right on the nose how tbz do concepts so well per era that it makes it harder to see their overall color, but you honestly need to watch all of Road to Kingdom first to understand that this intro was in fact the identity they had built through rtk and were most known for at the time. Also, for Sunwoo’s rap it’s not part of The Stealer originally. He wrote a new rap that references their time on rtk and rtk is also referenced throughout this intro performance. Kinda sucks that the votes went to Kingdom first over rtk, but hopefully yall get to watch rtk in the future!
To be fair, for the intro performance, the groups had to do a performance of a song that had previously won #1 on a music show, so some of the groups had an advantage due to having more choices. For example, ATEEZ only had two #1 song options to choose from at the time this was filmed.
Thank you for your reactions! ❤ I am so excited for you guys to watch Kingdom! I was gagged every week, there were always great performances. I watched Kingdom as it was airing and didn't even know Road to Kingdom was a thing and it was fine! I watched RTK later and it was still a great watch, so you guys will be fine watching out of order. ❤
you need to watch rtk first! the boyz really set the standard for kingdom through that show with mindblowing performances, plus the rtk era (darker concepts than what they had been showing for the past few years) is what essentially saved tbz from disbanding so I think that's why they decided to stick with dark concepts throughout kingdom. its kinda funny that in Korea rtk was more famous than kingdom, I guess seeing groups that came on the show to save themselves from disbandment giving their all was more interesting than seeing already famous groups try new concepts lmao
So glad you're reacting to kingdom!!! You're in for AMAZING performances, I think you'll love them :))) Also love the btb appreciation they really are so good and their trajectory in the show... You're in for a good time (Ps: your Christmas tree with the photo cards and the huge taenini on the side is EVERYTHING)
Kingdom got me into kpop, this series is going to be a wild ride. I started from roughly the same place you are here, and came out with deep knowledge about every group despite not much being shown in the show. Thank you for doing this!!
Having watched both shows I honestly don’t know why everyone is pressing you so much about watching rtk first. But maybe that’s just me. Anyway I hope you enjoy the show, can’t wait to watch you discover all these amazing groups and performances! Love you xoxo
THE BOYZ said that after Road to Kingdom, they had no idea how to differentiate themselves in Kingdom, because the other groups were full of energy, but THE BOYZ were burned out.
I feel like I have a lot to say but don’t know where to begin haha. I didn’t upgrade to a bow until I found out you guys were watching the Kingdom franchise, but like a lot of others have already said, I feel like this is one of the rare survival show series where it is analytically essential to watch the predecessor first. MNET really shaped the composition of the show based on the standard set in RTK (such as stunts, spectacle, stage dressing, props, etc) and this contributes to the cutthroat and competitive editing as well. Kingdom is also when they start intentionally implementing “faces” of groups like Juyeon which is seen from this episode onwards, and then this goes into the Ace concept in RTK2. Also as for TBZ, the reason it doesn’t really feel like them from their discography-based identity is because they basically rebranded themselves during RTK which was basically their saving grace from disbandment. If it makes sense, their RTK/Kingdom performances aren’t based on their sexier/darker concepts but is what created their dichotomy of light (their pre-RTK refreshing concepts) and dark (their conceptual/high choreo post-RTK concepts). But hopefully you guys will get to watch RTK sometime soon and create your own unique perspective based on the watch order
I also feel like you guys would enjoy RTK for more than just TBZ! Compared to Kingdom, there’s a lot more orchestral unity amongst all the arrangements that makes for very creative performances
Hello! I saw this on my recommended, and it's so interesting seeing people react to Kingdom now, as someone who watched it in real-time (SF9 my ults, I love you so) and who saw all the things between fandoms and Mnet's mess lol. Mnet actually had a hard time casting the other half of the lineup (aside from TBZ, SKZ, and ATZ) because a lot of groups who "fit" their criteria were enlisted, touring, or would not be on a survival show. SF9's participation in particular, had people confused because they didn't have the legacy of BTOB and IKON (their seniors) or the numbers and social media presence of the three more junior groups. They had just found their footing musically when the pandemic hit, so they weren't able to tour, so their company sent them to acting gigs and musicals, which is why people started associating them more with their solo projects rather than as a group. So they definitely had a lot to prove. What's exciting is that you get to see them progress from just showcasing to absolutely killing it, and I can't wait to see your next reviews~
So excited you guys are watching kingdom Legendary war I have been advocating for the kingdom series on patreon for a while and do wish you could do road to kingdom first because there’s lore for the Boyz i watched RTK before LW started and completely fell in love with The Boyz and they will my one pick though I love all the groups from LW
Im so excited to see what yu think od this whole show bc i loved some of the stages and all of the interacfions. Also every time you say just Stray instead of Stray Kids it takes me out
It seems crazy that The Boyz did the competition twice but I think in the long run that gained them more fans. Because I knew them but didn't pay attention to them until I watched Kingdom and got to know them and now I keep up to date on them. (I didn't watch the first kingdom though so....)
"Road To Kingdom" was better in terms of stages. The only reason Kingdom got voted higher is because the groups are more popular than the groups who were in Road To Kingdom, but that doesn't mean that those groups are less worth the watch. Trust me when I say it's worth it watching Road To Kingdom first. "Kingdom" was good but it was a slap in the face to The Boyz tbh. They didn't just pit them against "senior artists". The Boyz debuted December 2017. Kingdom's producers threw them against Stray Kids (who debuted three months after The Boyz) and ATEEZ (who debuted later in 2018). At the time of the announcement, Deobi were upset and asking why make The Boyz go through Road To Kingdom while two junior groups got to have an automatic pass?? I honestly think it was because both ATEEZ and SKZ have bigger overseas fandoms compared to The Boyz. Even so, they went through so much pain during Road To Kingdom with constant physical injuries and mental breakdowns, so the program added insult to injury...
Agree. I feel like apart from budget, the whole production of road to kingdom was better. It was fresher and the stages were a,so more diverse and innovative. Every group did their own thing. But because of the standard that tbz set in rtk, all the groups in kingdom more or less did the same types of concepts and storylines for most stages (the only kingdom stage I found truly unique was sf9’s move tbh). I feel like the group interactions in rtk were also much better. Maybe it’s because they were all varying degrees of nugu (even though tbz and golcha already had a win) and it was during covid and they were only performing for themselves, but it felt much more genuine and fun. Nothing against kingdom, it was still a fine show with good stages and I loved the sports day episode, but it was definitely only more popular because of the groups that they got.
omg the remix thing for the boyz is so true tho wait. in rtk and kingdom as well, in my opinion, whoever the boyz has doing their rearrangements? CHEFS KISS no one touches their rearrangements of songs. reveal in rtk & (spoiler) no air in kingdom like wowwww! i know many people have already explained the tbz rtk/kingdom lore so extensively so i’ll only touch on it very briefly. the boyz completely rebranded themselves after they dominated rtk. im hoping we do get an rtk reaction & recap eventually to see your thoughts retroactively. it will definitely make more sense if u do, haha
I do not care one bit about the chronology of your viewing experience, but for selfish reasons I dooo hope you watch RTK one day because ONF are so talented and underappreciated.
Ateez released a dance practice version that shows the performance better than what came out in the show. I'm really excited to see what you think of the show
delighted to hear your (always eloquent & entertaining) thoughts on stray kids!! I've been hoping for skz as botm and this scratches that itch :) PS if you like yappers and unique vocals def keep your eye on han
I think I remember there being drama because some groups had a bigger budget than others, set by the show? I can’t remember exactly what it was or if it was accidental or not 😭😭
I looked this up in articles bc I am messy and wanted to know the discourse 😅 What allegedly happened for the first competition performance (not the intros) was that companies were told one budget, then Kingdom (CJENM?) increased the budget and “failed to tell” all of the companies accidentally. Some teams worked off the original budget and some increased their budget. No spoilers for Adam and RJ on which teams, but we as viewers can really tell which team fell into which category…
There were accusations of larger budgets but really it was just MNet having poor communication (shocker). Ateez was reusing items they already had from tour.
@@megankeightley9018funny enough, room furnishings were the responsibility of the company the group belonged to. So that’s on KQ for the rollie chairs 😅 ATZ does get a couch in later eps. Major agree on the favoritism from MNET overall, just want to be factual bc I see the waiting room discourse all the time when KLW is brought up, even 4 years later.
If you were going to watch the franchise chronologically for the full impact, you should have started with the first Queendom (which, tbh, was a lot more fun than Kingdom imo). Road to Kingdom is great as well but I think it's fine to watch it later if you want! (or if the people vote for it)
The Boyz intro was my favorite if you had watched RTK or if patreon had voted correctly for you to watch it first you may change your mind about the performance being really them because all of their RTK performances leading up to LW it makes sense yes they are kings of concepts. Edit - yeah you have to watch the full wide stage video to really appreciate the whole performance and Juyeon’s fall and throw
Calling Kingdom a survival show is kinda funny because there is nothing to survive. No-one's getting eliminated 😅 the stakes are just their pride and competitiveness (is that a word?) 33:48 let’s not even start on the quality of camerawork in this damn show. Like never had there been a show with such uneven quality of camerawork. Just wait for sf9's next performance I’m willing to bet it was filmed by some intern The sound situation of ikon's performance is really weird because they are excellent singers who could’ve sung the whole thing, it’s nit like rhythm ta is the most vocally challenging song ever. Also their strength really lies in live performances imo. They have such a great stage presence and energy that really suck the audience in (you can see the other groups watching get really hyped up) but it doesn’t really come through in a show like kingdom that’s all about the flashy stuff. Especially not with that weird ass camerawork
I think Ateez only had Wave and possibly Inception as wins at this point so not many options, I still think doing Wave without Mingi is a very brave choice because, in my mind at least, that's one of their most *Mingi* songs. Also I'm super pleased Kingdom : Legendary War won (I voted for it) I'm an Atiny, Stay, Fantasy and a Melody so excited to see you watch the rest of the series.❤
But guysss RTK is so much better ! Sure these groups have bigger fanbases (which I'm assuming is why it won the vote), but I feel like the groups on RTK were less focused on maintaining their company-assigned image, not to mention the over-the-top pyrotechnic/props bandwagon that imo made KLW feel less genuine... no hate to any of these groups obviously.
I absolutely agree that the main point of the show was to increase awareness because I came into this show with no knowledge other that SKZ and left with Ateez being like my 2nd favorite group. Ateez ended up being my first kpop concert and their are still my top 3. SKZ will always be my ult so I loved how much you appreciated their performance!
I remember at the time there was a lot of discussion about how MNet gave (or at least let some groups have) more money for the individual stages and you can really tell in the second set of stages.
While I do totally understand your point about tbz concept but the sad truth is that the more lighter, less intense concept never able to do well on this show no matter how amazing the performance are😞, and they learn that the hard way during rtk. Not to mention that Pentagon, a group that is constantly ranked higher at almost every stage, suddenly received low rank when they changed to try doing more lighter concept (similar vibe to bloom bloom) for a round. (It’s so sad, especially considering that performance was my favorite from them😢)
I would say Felix has an angel heart (sweetest human being) and the appearance of a fae. When you look at his face from the front view, you will notice his ears look pointed like fae ears… (sorry abt the TMI)
Just fyi Hyunjin isn't in the rest of the show. His bullying scandal kinda started the day they recorded the intro stages, he went on hiatus like two days later. Also Changmin ended up MCing the rest of the show alone because Yunho also had a scandal while they were filming.
babes, please please please get into Stray Kids 🫰🏽🫰🏽🫰🏽 Not only is the music incredible & self-produced, the kids are ✨girling girling ✨ (minsung + all the other ships 😉)
OMG Starlight boys and Project 7 were on the list. Ik you guys watch by the vote but you do know that cong and da eul are in starlight boys right (specificly directed to Adam).
(this is no shade or attack on anyone) did everyone forget that yall watched queendom puzzle without having seen queendom😭 ik it's not a one for one comparison but there was def missing context bc of it, & yet... it was fine. you can absolutely watch them out of order & be fine. KLW had more people who are in lore/adjacent to lore & the performances are literally insane. RTK was amazing as well but i think people just wanted to make sure they watched KLW in case it only came down to one of the two, which it might given that it is a voting system and patrons can change every month. it's not like a proper s1 to s2 structure, so whole context obviously enriches story, i really don't think it's essential or necessary in this case. it's a "survival" show. watching BP before GP999 means that you missed out on a lot of context, especially in the finale, but it is absolutely not essential viewing to understand what's happening. i watched KLW first & then RTK & i dont feel like i missed out on anything
i'm excited to see what you think of the rest of the performances and who you think overall should have won the show! (i want to know if we would have picked the same winner lol)
As soon as I heard 40:25 I DROPPED TO MY KNEES. To be fair I voted for both RTK and Legendary War but mistakes were made that day😭. I think RTK would have provided the context needed to understand The Boyz performances and to understand the choices they made in Legendary War. Ya know hindsight is 20/20 LOLLL 💀
Ahhh, RTK the origin of my Melody-ism! A win for me as a huge Melody and a Beret (although I’ve lapsed on my dues bc bills but I’ll be back [wait are we called that still?? Berets > Bobs/Baubs and Bows/Beaus?!! I’m out of the loop bbs 😫])!!!!

I think rtk performances was much better. Like i still watch onf's rtk performences. Also i think bigger groups do this kind of performances for Mama or other award show so you know while watching it what kind of a performance they will do. But for rtk you don't know cuz they are all kinda nugu and you are discovering them throughout the show. And the Boyz rtk performances much better than kingdom

Here to provide a positive supportive comment ❤ I watched on Patreon and had a wonderful time 😊 thank you Adam and RJ ❤
Just 'Stray' is crazy! 😂
you need to watch rtk first! the boyz really set the standard for kingdom through that show with mindblowing performances, plus the rtk era (darker concepts than what they had been showing for the past few years) is what essentially saved tbz from disbanding so I think that's why they decided to stick with dark concepts throughout kingdom. its kinda funny that in Korea rtk was more famous than kingdom, I guess seeing groups that came on the show to save themselves from disbandment giving their all was more interesting than seeing already famous groups try new concepts lmao
So glad you're reacting to kingdom!!! You're in for AMAZING performances, I think you'll love them :))) Also love the btb appreciation they really are so good and their trajectory in the show... You're in for a good time
(Ps: your Christmas tree with the photo cards and the huge taenini on the side is EVERYTHING)
bobby also had like 2 minutes of screentime in boys planet where he helped the man in love team if i remember correctly
Came here to say this. He also told Gunwook he was ready to debut 🥹
IKONIC here 😂 Can't wait for you to know more about them 🫡
Kingdom got me into kpop, this series is going to be a wild ride. I started from roughly the same place you are here, and came out with deep knowledge about every group despite not much being shown in the show. Thank you for doing this!!
I think you're really nice and I love hearing your opinions, even if they don't align with mine.
🎉Sf9 was mistreated alot from mnet... As a Fantasy, aside from the bond they created with other groupz especially the boys and Ikon, I hated kingdom
Yassss ballad lovers helloooo 💙 BTOB did amazing on this show. You’re in for a ride!
I'm really excited to see what you think of the show
Haha not me having already seen this show laughing at yalls guesses. Can’t wait to see more reacts❤❤
delighted to hear your (always eloquent & entertaining) thoughts on stray kids!! I've been hoping for skz as botm and this scratches that itch :) PS if you like yappers and unique vocals def keep your eye on han
I think I remember there being drama because some groups had a bigger budget than others, set by the show? I can’t remember exactly what it was or if it was accidental or not 😭😭
It’s very obvious based on the waiting rooms too lol some have sofas and some have plastic chairs 😅
@@michelele859 there was still definitely privileges/favouritism based on waiting rooms 🤣
Oh am sat for this❤ looking forward to the next
Oooo girl, this is what got me into Stray Kids back in the day. And Ateez 🔥
If you were going to watch the franchise chronologically for the full impact, you should have started with the first Queendom (which, tbh, was a lot more fun than Kingdom imo). Road to Kingdom is great as well but I think it's fine to watch it later if you want! (or if the people vote for it)
BtoB's kingdom performances were sooooo good 💙
The Boyz intro was my favorite if you had watched RTK or if patreon had voted correctly for you to watch it first you may change your mind about the performance being really them because all of their RTK performances leading up to LW it makes sense yes they are kings of concepts.
Edit - yeah you have to watch the full wide stage video to really appreciate the whole performance and Juyeon’s fall and throw
I’m obsessed with the Simone Biles side tangent. 😂
Calling Kingdom a survival show is kinda funny because there is nothing to survive. No-one's getting eliminated 😅 the stakes are just their pride and competitiveness (is that a word?)
33:48 let’s not even start on the quality of camerawork in this damn show. Like never had there been a show with such uneven quality of camerawork. Just wait for sf9's next performance I’m willing to bet it was filmed by some intern
The sound situation of ikon's performance is really weird because they are excellent singers who could’ve sung the whole thing, it’s nit like rhythm ta is the most vocally challenging song ever.
Also "Stray" made me laugh every single time 😂
Wow wasn't expecting this!!!
12:08 Ironically, BTOB was in an episode of ANTM 😭
You must listen BTOB Killing Voice. They're literally killing it
35:26 this is too real
While I do totally understand your point about tbz concept but the sad truth is that the more lighter, less intense concept never able to do well on this show no matter how amazing the performance are😞, and they learn that the hard way during rtk. Not to mention that Pentagon, a group that is constantly ranked higher at almost every stage, suddenly received low rank when they changed to try doing more lighter concept (similar vibe to bloom bloom) for a round. (It’s so sad, especially considering that performance was my favorite from them😢)
I would say Felix has an angel heart (sweetest human being) and the appearance of a fae. When you look at his face from the front view, you will notice his ears look pointed like fae ears… (sorry abt the TMI)
such a long video yesss!! will be watching this later tonight since it’s currently 2am for me but i’m so excited :)
"globular" help I'm crying from that reaction
Fantasy Boys really traumatized you guys 😂😂😂
Just fyi Hyunjin isn't in the rest of the show. His bullying scandal kinda started the day they recorded the intro stages, he went on hiatus like two days later.
Also Changmin ended up MCing the rest of the show alone because Yunho also had a scandal while they were filming.
escandalo
Yunho the mc, btw. Not Yunho from ateez
@@BriBee1235 I though my sentence was pretty clear about which Yunho, since I was talking about Changmin having to MC alone.
You guys need to react to XLOV's debut MV like right now! Those divas are so good and it's right up your ally!! :)
If you like musicals I think you'll love BTOB in Kingdom.
babes, please please please get into Stray Kids 🫰🏽🫰🏽🫰🏽 Not only is the music incredible & self-produced, the kids are ✨girling girling ✨ (minsung + all the other ships 😉)
2 of the members of BTOB are in the military during this, nothing scary!
yea my bias is Q too. Q THE MUSIC!! A LITTLE BIT OF LOVE psh psh GOES A LONG LONG WAY
I loved btob performanced the most
OMG Starlight boys and Project 7 were on the list. Ik you guys watch by the vote but you do know that cong and da eul are in starlight boys right (specificly directed to Adam).
(this is no shade or attack on anyone)
did everyone forget that yall watched queendom puzzle without having seen queendom😭 ik it's not a one for one comparison but there was def missing context bc of it, & yet... it was fine. you can absolutely watch them out of order & be fine.
Are you guys gonna react to wumuti's group XLOV?
ofc they will, don't underestimate the power of the beloveds
i'm excited to see what you think of the rest of the performances and who you think overall should have won the show! (i want to know if we would have picked the same winner lol)
I mean.... I DO think about SALT every time I think of Angelina Jolie so RJ's not alone!
a win for salt!!!
You don’t know THE B.I from (ex) ikon pls do Btbt omg🔥
As soon as I heard 40:25 I DROPPED TO MY KNEES. To be fair I voted for both RTK and Legendary War but mistakes were made that day😭. I think RTK would have provided the context needed to understand The Boyz performances and to understand the choices they made in Legendary War. Ya know hindsight is 20/20 LOLLL 💀
ATEEZ ❤
Ahhh, RTK the origin of my Melody-ism! A win for me as a huge Melody and a Beret (although I’ve lapsed on my dues bc bills but I’ll be back [wait are we called that still?? Berets > Bobs/Baubs and Bows/Beaus?!! I’m out of the loop bbs 😫])!!!!
Not sure if you showed the logo earlier, but just to bring this full circle as I conclude the video - oh, I get it! Bobs! 🙎♀️ Ok I feel caught up lol ❤
And the Boyz rtk performances much better than kingdom
completely agree
YAY OMG
I was so angry at Kingdom for what they did (starting ep 2) that I didn't watch this so I'm very happy to be able to follow along with your reactions, ty and the people who voted for this!
votary public was worth it 👍
I also knew sf9 because of kdramas but I've never watched any performance or songs
Road to kingdom too please
Felix is definitely not human divaaaa
Hi, I love ur reactions, I'm in love with both of u, especialy because you are one of the few reactors who follow &team with me, sorry for asking this here, unfortunately I am not able to contribute to Patreon this month.

Sorry for the oot, but are you guys planning to react/recap Universe League? Woongki's storyline is lowkey giving in there actually
Hey girl how are you with the hands 😂 just wait it’s coming just like winter
i'm the only one whose hoping them to react rtk s1 and rtk: ace of ace? 😭
patreon did y'all dirty you shouldve watched RTK first :/ woongki, seongmin and hui were all in it lol
You will survive with not following the whole Kingdome lore 😂 Like idk to me it’s not a big deal at all tbh. It’s not like you guys will be CLUELESS watching legendary war without watching rtk. Like c’mon 😅
When is Not Me coming?
having technical issues with not me recap, we'll get it up as soon as our hard drive is back from the shop 😭
I cannot wait for you to start reacting to Straykids. Since you guys like Felix, you are in for a ride! I cannot wait for your reaction to him & Wooyoung, lets just say San should watch his amicus ad aras
I don't really stan sf9 bUT I NEED YOO TAEYANG SO BADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭🤕😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😀😔😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
