I greatly appreciate Fr. Dave sharing his perspective on growing up with a parent who has multiple sclerosis. I was diagnosed in 2016 and have two children who have had to watch me suffer. My oldest walked away from the faith (If there’s a God who lets us suffer then he really isn’t God argument) while our youngest has drawn closer to Jesus and chose our Blessed Mother Mary as her patron saint when we came into the Catholic Church last Easter. It’s fascinating to hear from a child’s perspective on the suffering of their parent. Thank you Cameron for this beautiful dialogue. God bless.

I find myself often thinking about the Fradd children when I hear Cameron speak about her suffering. Watching your own mother suffer is a hard thing to endure let alone explain. I know that struggle very well seeing my mother suffer mentally and physically my whole life. God is the only way to find strength most days. Thank you for this beautiful and important conversation. It will make people feel less alone and that is a beautiful thing.

This convo is so comforting. Would love to see more interviews w priests. Btw, I’m going to be fully received into the Catholic Church on March 30th. I couldn’t have embraced the Catholic faith without you and Matt, and the sincerity of your faith as a model and guidepost. Your shining examples and transparency have washed away my doubts and reservations, again and again, day after day. Thank you

Everytime I listen to Cameron, I feel such admiration for her strength, including physical, spiritual, and her character, and am praying for her healing.

This conversation was such a tonic to hear. I live in the NW England. I have been a Catholic all my life and I never heard a woman be able to express her faith with such conviction. God has always placed a priest in my life who has been close to our family but you should know. This type of community, Catholic community does not exist here. I wonder if Americans know just how bereft the faith is here I the UK. My heart aches. It is as if I am listening to people of a different faith. Please pray for England. I wish I had community like you do. My husband and I have 3 children and we're in our 40s and we don't know ANY other Catholic family our age. That's an insight into the Catholic faith here. Thank you for your work and generous heart talking about faith and life and motherhood x

What part of the UK do you live in? In the NE, around Durham, I found a Catholic community at university. I think, since Catholicism stayed popular in the region, you can find more people still practicing. I will pray for the UK, even in the early 2000s I could see the decline in faith.

Thank you x I live in the North West, in the Liverpool Archdiocese. A short search online will reveal what we're up against. Its so sad, as vocations in my town have always outnumbered the others in the diocese. It has always been a very Catholic town and even as a child, I thought that the churches here reflected the holy English Saints - Cuthbert, Edward, Aiden, John Fisher, John Rigby. We have always been blessed to have a Catholic priest welcomed in our home - as a child and now in my family. But Catholic community - is nowhere to be seen. I don't know of any church locally that has exposition - I often hear Americans say that when they're struggling and need some space, they go to the church and sit before Our Lord. This is a practice unheard of now - unless specifically planned/organised a few times a year. Something I attended as a child with my mother and grandmother. And confession? There's usually a notice on the bulletin to say confessions on request. If a church has them available, you'll likely see "available 5 mins before Mass". Don't misunderstand me, the churches are not yet empty - but the faith is absent - it is more about the routine of somewhere to go on Sunday. I strive to offer catechesis to my children and my husband (who is a convert) but you can imagine how that goes! I often have to start with a disclaimer that what I'm teaching is not widely accepted, even in Catholic school. We're at our 3rd parish since last summer. The last one we left because they had started to use a slide projector over the altar during Mass to notate the theme of the Mass. And the TLM? We were BLESSED to have a priest about 25yrs ago now at my childhood parish include the parts of the Mass in Latin. Responses, prayers, imagery, vestments - oversubscribed altar boys 😂. It was a holy place to be. He was instrumental in my husbands conversion. But he was relocated due to the volume of complaints received about the TLM. People wanted cumbaya and this is the result!

@@kathrynsuch I am so sorry that you don’t have ready access to all of the sacraments! Confession and adoration offer soooo many graces, if only people would know and go! Blessings on you and your family; I am also a convert and have found that when I am a part of a strong community, my own faithfulness is that much stronger. I live in Phoenix, Arizona now and my parish is so blessed to have a good priest who likes a lot of tradition- Latin in mass, perpetual adoration, catechesis for the whole family, etc. We also have the Institute of Catholic Theology- look it up online, St. Thomas the Apostle parish in Phoenix, AZ. We offer both free and paid classes online that help to grow in faith and knowledge of the Church. Also, know that you have a Catholic community online. It may not replace a parish, but I have found so many good Catholic channels, like this one. There are the Sisters of Divine Mercy that offers live Eucharistic Adoration. I turn to that channel often, just to be in Jesus’ presence and talk to Him. I pray the daily mass with the Marians of the Immaculate Conception on the Divine Mercy channel. And I never miss a video from Pints with Aquinas 😉. I pray that you will find your community. God bless you.

It is amazing to hear you say that Jesus didn’t want to suffer either is reassuring to hear after being given my 7th chronic illness today. I said I didn’t want it too. I also love that you shared that suffering is the road to sainthood. Thank you for this discussion.

I would love to hear more from Fr. Dave. I’m a young Catholic mom with 2 toddlers and I needed to hear this so badly. Are there any other ways to listen to/watch him?
