  • Caring for a SICK Baby? I'm not a doctor or nurse, but here is some mom to mom advice that I've pick up over the years!!!
Obviously talk to your local pediatrician but here's a few things I find helpful.
BONE BROTH- You can make a great one in the Instant Pot by using the soup function on low for two hours! :) Adding 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar (lemon juice might also be an option) tends to extract more of the good stuff from the bones, making the finished product much more nutrient-dense!
Saline drops can be used to clear congestion and relieve a stuffy nose
MAKE a STEAM ROOM- All you do is turn the shower to the hottest setting, close the door and wait 5 minutes ( can add eucalyptus or teatree oil)
Elevate the beds just a little bit it helps the congestion drain down instead of staying stagnant in their head and chest.
Garlic is most commonly known for its anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties

My 4 month old daughter is sick right now. Thank you so much for this. I was an only child and I feel like I am often flying by the seat of my pants when it comes to caring for her.

I was JUST feeling so defeated yesterday. I am a mother to 5, ages 7 and under and they have all been sick for over 2 weeks now. Was fighting thoughts of inadequacy for not being able to help them get better. Thank you so much for sharing this gold!

My 14 month old is sick (fever, vomiting, congestion) so I’ve pretty much been constantly holding her the last few days. She’s getting better now, but has refused to nurse for the last 24 hours (she is drinking water). Say a prayer that she’ll nurse again soon! I would be sad if our nursing relationship ended over this.

That’s so hard! Praying for you both! ❤️ If my little guy does the same thing again over the next couple days, I might try refrigerated breastmilk in case the cold would make his throat feel better, and if that helps, experimenting with putting him to the breast after. If nothing else, at least his saliva will communicate to my body what he needs at that moment!
Hoping and praying for nursing to continue for you two! ❤️❤️

Thanks so much for the prayers! She started nursing again in the middle of the night and has been making up for lost time all day lol. She’s over the nausea now too, so maybe her body just needed that little break while the nausea was at its worst.

I had an infection on my foot once and put a piece of garlic on it. It burned so bad and later a yellow boil formed and I realized it was the garlic juices being absorbed. Healed my infection, garlic is amazing.

Just recently ran across you on carnivore interviews. Love your Christian ways. I'm a Nana now, but whenever my kids started getting something I used to open a capsule of echinacea and mix it with a tablespoon of applesauce for them to take with a chaser of a spoonful of regular applesauce. We called it “muddy applesauce”. My kids rarely ever caught anything and I always tried homeopathic cures first. My kids were little just before the chickenpox vaccine came out. They were exposed to friends and family getting chickenpox at least a half dozen times and never caught it. They were finally able to get the vaccine so we could stop worrying about it.

This video is on my list. I have 2 boys, the oldest just turned 4 and for almost 2 years all 4 of us are constantly sick (maybe 2 weeks in a row when noone is coughing or sneezing). This is what makes it so hard. That I don't have to take care of one sick child but being sick and taking care of dick children while my husband also needs to rest more and everything in the household stops and after feeling a tiny little bit better we get burried by undone chores

    Postpartum doula here!
If you’re doing chicken bone broth, you can make a great one in the Instant Pot by using the soup function on low for two hours! :) Adding 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar (lemon juice might also be an option) tends to extract more of the good stuff from the bones, making the finished product much more nutrient-dense!😃
Careful about using breastmilk for other things if you have thrush, though. ❤️ I know…thrush is kind of the worst. 😣
If prepping for birth/postpartum, you can ask your practitioner about prenatal colostrum harvesting/collection! That was SO helpful for us. Actually, I should grab some from the freezer today! Day 3 of a fever for me, day 1 for him.
The homeopathic remedy is oscillococcinum (oscillo for short)! :) The whole tube full would be a choking hazard, so one option I’ve heard of is Mom taking it instead, if breastfeeding. Personally, I’d want to ask a homeopath before giving a pellet to Baby directly since it’s such a high potency. I wonder if Boiron sells one for kids/babies…🤔
Praying and offering up today’s challenges for the rest of you who are sick and/or taking care of a sick little one!❤️

I've been using the frida snotsucker to get some out periodically but he hates it. Should I keep at it or do you recommend another solution to get the snot out?

My 2 month old just got over RSV and we actually had to be at the hospital. Praise be to God he didn't need any treatments other than snot sucking. I would highly recommend getting a higher powered snot sucker and saline. We used saline spray (for babies) and we got a snot sucker that hooks to our vacuum. 😂

    • @almasamson9218
      @almasamson9218 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

I highly recommend running a humidifier when they sleep as well as having them sleep on an angle (you can put some books under their mattress where their head goes) to help drain all that snot down. I have 4 kids and as soon as they begin to get stuffy they ask me to run the humidifier. My youngest is 7mo and caught covid last month. I was totally expecting her to get stuffed up to the point she couldn’t nurse anymore but that never happened. She was congested but always able to breathe and actually breathed better when sleeping prob due to the humidifier.
