One of the first inks I ever bought and I was never really excited about it...until I heard you say left handers should make friends with someone who's right handed. THAT is a recommendation. Great review. Love your work.
Ancient Copper definitely sheens, but it's a golden sheen, and I have no idea where you're getting that it's a seafoam green color which you also say resembles the verdigris of copper, but verdigris is a flat color and does not sheen. Anyhow, it's a phenomenal ink, and one of only a very few that I use - once I find my favorite inks I just don't see the need to use any others. Inks are filled with tradeoffs - the fact that it washes away from the paper so readily is an indication of how easily it is cleaned out of pens, and because of this fact and the fact that it shades so well it is actually not a very saturated ink at all, but it is very opaque - that's the quality you're trying to describe.
This is the most favoritism and genuine palpable enthusiasm for an ink I've seen you show. You sold me on getting this ink. Thank you VittaR for an amazing review.
Love your intro! lol You should include links to Amazon for the products.. I think they give some kickback which wouldn't hurt. lol You're so excited about this color. I really want it now.
Hi Vitta thanks for all the awesome reviews. I just tried this ink on ecoqua blank notebook paper and it feathered a little more than I expected. Is the dot paper coated differently perhaps? Apache Sunset also feathered like crazy on the blank ecoqua. Much worse than the Ancient Cooper.
Love this review!: I’d heard great things about this ink, but this is a eulogy!; btw I’m a leftie underwriter, so dry time is not a problem(really only problem for sidewriters) :)
Great review one of my favourite inks. I have seen and heard some people complain about nib crust with this ink but i've never experienced that what are your thoughts ? Thanks Vitta
I've had that nib crust happen, but it was only on a pen that didn't get used for a little bit and has a bad seal, so it dried out. Otherwise, I've had no problems with it whatsoever
It built up crust in one of my pens. It doesn't clog the pen, but it's quite unsightly. I just wipe the crust off, or give it a quick rinse under water. I've had worse inks that actually clog up my ink.
Without an actual comparison, just one of those "hey this ink reminds me of Diemine Ancient Copper" - and I checked and you did not review this ink - is Monteverde Copper Noir. Butt what the hell do I know?
I'm getting worried. I'm increasingly seeing 'things' in your ink swabs. Last time it was one of those little pokemons. This time, I can faintly but definitely detect Doctor Victor von Doom in your BrandyDazzle swab. I think Dr Rorschach would be concerned.
I find my bottle of ancient copper is very dependant on paper quality, most of the time it is a plain mud brown for me unless I use it on my best paper where a little bit of red comes through.
This is doctoral thesis level research on a single ink. Very impressive.
Where are you Vitta? Missing the reviews
The sheer enthusiasm of this review! I have been eyeing this ink for a while and this pushed me to order a bottle...looking forward to it :-) Thanks!
You are missed : ( I hope you are doing well : )
I normally shy from brown/earth tones, but had to purchase this because of your review - and I LOVE it!

One of the coolest things with this ink is that it sheens on certain paper, and the sheen is the color of copper patina. It's genius.
Extensive and comprehensive review of a gorgeous color. The paper test absolutely necessary. Thanks.
I really need this ink for my Montegrappa Copper Mule pen. Made for each other.

I've got some of this in a fine nib Metro and even with it's very tiny lines it still looks amazing.

I love Ancient Copper too :)

I've never had an issue , how odd thanks though for the reply

At Richard Binder's page, www.richardspens.com/?page=ref/nibs/primer.htm , this ink scores a 7.06 pH.

oh man i see all sorts in ink swabs , i think its kind of normal hopefully or we are both insane
