Breaks my heart that all these years later her gymnastics life came to such an abrupt end as a Senior at UCLA. She’s such a beautiful woman and her future is bright!
Such a shame but hopefully they will get their Senior Night in a few months when/if the world gets a grip on this virus..incredible gymnast and more importantly an incredible person..best of luck to her in all her future endeavours
I think Kyla is one of the most consistent. And her execution is just amazing. People need to layoff saying she needs to upgrade. Yes our depth is deep but she has been very smart and no major injuries from pushing too hard. Some gymnasts have all the difficulty but perform it terribly...Kyla obviously has enough difficulty to be an Olympian and performs is perfectly!!! GO KYLA!!!
Just wondering if you can answer a question for me? I just watched the Jordyn Wieber 4 year update video too. In that video Deanna said Jordyn can't compete at UCLA bc she went pro. Therefore, she decided to be the team manager and assistant coach the following year. If Jordyn and Kyla were both at the London Olympics, wouldn't they both be considered "pro"? How can Kyla compete for the NCAA, but Jordyn cannot? Very confused.
Cool Man That is true, and the Olympic Bylaws should be changed back to Amateur status. I remember that United States VS. SOVIET UNION hockey game in 1980.A group of American college students beat a strong Soviet team. It was one of the best sporting events I ever watched. This will never occur again untill the profit motive is taken out of the Olympic Games. These athletes should compete for the love of sport and country, not to make substantial monetary gains.
So hoping she can win an individual gold medal at the Olympics. I love her style. Glad to see she is upgrading. Praying she makes it all the way and wins a gold. I love her consistency too. Good job with the video. Very well done.
I like that Kyla is patient enough with her gymnastics. She wants to peak next year and doesn't seem to rush it. Obviously, upgrades are needed if she wants to factor into the medals at the Rio Olympics but she doesn't seem to get too desperate and respects her body. I do not count her out for the next Olympics at all. At the Secret US Classics this year she was injured and played it safe. If she heals up in time and doesn't get seriously injured again, I think she will be on the olympic team for sure. At Worlds 2013 she was incredible! And that was with lower start values. I said it before and I'll say it again, but the fact that she was able to medal at the 2013 and 2014 Worlds with much lower start values is such an achievement. I'm obviously biased as I fell in love with gymnastics during the 2012 Olympics, but my dream podium for the AA in Rio would be: 1. Kyla, 2. Larisa Iordache, 3. Simone. (Obviously, for the VT final I want McKayla Maroney to take home the much deserved gold but I have a feeling that she might not even go for it again... The fact that she didn't show up at the 2015 US Classic makes me quite nervous as to her gymnastic plans...).
On vault her form is now pretty much perfect! She fixed the slight leg break she gets on the block and she didn't pike down on landing, her legs were straight all the way through. At Antwerp she scored 15.366 with slight hop, slight break on Block so maybe she could get 15.5s with a DTY, which would be huge considering most gymnasts get that score with an amanar.
Kyla Ross is one of my favorite female athletes.I am very happy she declined the endorsement dollars, and is going to have a full college experience at The Universiy of California Los Angeles. She is so beautiful, and graceful in her gymnastics routines. She makes me think of a butterfly floating across the sky.I wish her much success academically,as well as, in gymnastics. She is from a georgeous part of the world Hawaii.I hope the island people are routing for Ms.Kyla Ross,as much as I am.Unfortunately,I do not receive PAC 12 TV in New Jersey,so hopefully the coach will download many You Tube Videos. God Bless Kyla Ross, and hope for her lifelong success. Sincerely,Michael David Silverman.
Thanks for the update! So many people think Kyla will be overtaken by up and comers, but I have faith that she'll make the upgrades she needs. She always hits her routines when it matters most. It really doesn't matter what gymnasts can do during training if they don't compete well. Kyla has proven on multiple occasions that she can handle the pressure.
There is something about her I really love. She is so mentally strong, as the youngest on the Olympic Team she showed, grace, maturity, and stamina. Go Kyla! I hope to see you in worlds and in Rio! Bring home another team Gold!
Lovely story, outstanding visuals and footage and above all a magnificent and exquisite World Class Athlete depicting her entourage on a daily basis. Well done as short documentary, I loved it !!!!
kiwigymnast16 I started really getting into video production when I was in high school as well, so it means so much to me that I can inspire someone else in that position now! Thank you so much for watching and best of luck with your projects! :)
She is really beautiful. That first shot of her upper back from behind was astounding... and then we see her from the front.. just wow. Some people are just so blessed.
The riches we enjoy regarding the superb talent at the elite level of women's artistic gymnastics is astounding. Kyla Ross has been a blessing at the elite and collegiate level. It's sad this virus has abruptly ended the careers of seniors around the nation at the collegiate gymnastics level.
SParkApCider You are exactly right Kyla Ross is a great young woman, and is very humble, extremely intelligent and a great Artistic Gymnast. I wish her a very successful life, and a wonderful experience at University of California Los Angeles.
I met a girl in college who ended up 6'1" and her best event was bars but she kept getting deductions because her feet kept hitting the other bar. She had to quit. That makes me sad. I also had to quit gymnastics as an early teen because I had a growth spurt and I had a hard time keeping my flexibility and I ended up quitting.
Kyla's grown up and matured very much, she's much taller than she was then, it will still be tougher now with more girls improving and moving up the ladder, I think that she'll have the best shot to make it back on the team to Rio. Best of luck to her.
Wonderful video! Am I the only one who is concerned that the uneven bars are so close to the balance beams? To me it looks like you might directly crash into the beams ifyou loose grip on bars. (Maybe just a matter of perspective, though.) Anyway - super vid and I really look forward to see Kyla again this year.
Kyla had a terrible outing at Classics, but she has a history of not performing well there. Hopefully she'll get it together by P&Gs. So far, her only debuted upgrade has been a Bhardwaj on bars. I'm really hoping she'll nail it like she does in training, but more than that I'm dying for big upgrades across the board.
+withlove312 Also, she was on the rebound from an injury, which adds to the pressure and leads to not the best performances. I think she'll pull some more upgrades before Rio!
It would be incredible to see her do her pack full on bars and immediately transition back up to the high bar, maybe have that half twist in the way up! Also she could upgrade to the 2.5 twist in vault, if her body is strong enough and she has plenty of time to perfect it. I wish the Olympic committee will get rid of two per country rule for all around comp, because there are so many wonderful gymnasts that want to prove that they can contend for a medal. The tie breaking rule should also disappear, if the girl gets the score needed for a medal then she deserves to get the medal.
she did do the half twist back up! now she just needs to connect that to get tremendous bonus points. And stick her dismount like the did with the double lay out
she retired from elite, but she's be going to UCLA in the fall and will compete with the gymnastics team. There's still going to be a lot of great gymnastics coming from her for the next 4 years. I think she'll be a major star in the NCAA.
If she does these upgrades with her inbars [which were re-added at camp] she'll have a 6.9! With the bhardwaj connected back to the HB she'll have a 7.0!
Paige Charlotte no thats not weird at all. I hope this routine reaches its full potential by next year if shes not physically able to do everything now. A lot of people like kyla for continuing straight from the olympics (otherwise 2013 wouldve been a weak yr and we wouldve had 3 less medals at worlds) and never giving herself that break like Aly and Gabo. She had to deal with growth and injuries but she always delivered for Team USA so ppl are loyal to her even if shes never been the flashy gymnast. I think a lot of ppl would orgasm if the silver princess won a gold...finally.
@yuan qiqi Their season was cut short because of covid. No regionals or a National Championship.
Have no fear Kyla Ross fans; she is now an assistant gymnastics coach at a major SEC university!
is anyone else seeing this on their recommendations? just NOW
Joe Weber rude 😒
me 😂
Yeah
Joe Weber dont be mean
I think Kyla is one of the most consistent. And her execution is just amazing. People need to layoff saying she needs to upgrade. Joann Hilton preach
“What’s our philosophy ladies?”
“Clean, safe, routines guaranteed to stick”
Has Kyla been training at VGA?😂
They should do another one since this was four years ago! Who else thinks so?
YES PLEASE
UCLA gymnastics has a wonderful gymnast in Kyla and a wonderful manager/coach in Jordyn
Just wondering if you can answer a question for me? I just watched the Jordyn Wieber 4 year update video too. In that video Deanna said Jordyn can't compete at UCLA bc she went pro. How can Kyla compete for the NCAA, but Jordyn cannot? Very confused.
Going to the Olympics doesn't make you a pro...it is signing with marketing and talent management companies. Jordyn did that at 17. Kyla didn't.
The Olympics are historically considered amateur athletics.
Cool Man That is true, and the Olympic Bylaws should be changed back to Amateur status. I remember that United States VS. SOVIET UNION hockey game in 1980.A group of American college students beat a strong Soviet team. It was one of the best sporting events I ever watched. people need to make money though. sports are insanely expensive.
This looks amazing! Kyla looked really comfortable with you which is awesome! ! Keep up the good work!!
Christina Bell Thank you so much for watching! I'd have to give credit to Kyla there, she was super easygoing and a pleasure to work with! :)

+WHATTHEBUCKSHOW Love you Buck!

Deanna! I am watching this after watching your videos following UCLA gymnastics this season! When Kyla says, "Kind of like Peng" my heart melted!
It's so cool to see that she was training with Fish and Brielle before UCLA !
So hoping she can win an individual gold medal at the Olympics. I love her style. Glad to see she is upgrading. Praying she makes it all the way and wins a gold. I love her consistency too. Good job with the video. Very well done.
I've been following her since London and she is my favorite. I hope she is able to make it to Rio. Such a talented gymnast and she seems so sweet.
2:36 "the person is not always like a machine" 😭💗 Great coach.

Fast forward to now your number 3 pick is the best gymnast there ever was...Ms. Biles is and has been number 1! Go Simone!
Deanna, very nice video feature. Love seeing upgrades from Kyla. Pak full looks like she has done it for years. Nice work!
Region 5 Gymnastics Insider Thank you very much for taking the time to watch! I agree, she's looking great :)

Rocking the bHARDwaj! And oh my God, kyla's DTY is to die for. Such form.
Lovely story, outstanding visuals and footage and above all a magnificent and exquisite World Class Athlete depicting her entourage on a daily basis. Well done as short documentary, I loved it !!!!
I love how she has matured and how she is more confident. I still remember shy little Kyla :) good luck and hope to see you in Brazil !!!
this was uploaded 4 years ago and she’s made so much progress
This is beautiful work and absolutely inspiring to me as a high school filmmaker. Well done!
kiwigymnast16 I started really getting into video production when I was in high school as well, so it means so much to me that I can inspire someone else in that position now! Thank you so much for watching and best of luck with your projects! :)
I love this, Deanna. So very well done!
jyosefr Thank you for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Rewatching in 2018 and i just recognized brielle and fish! Go bruinsss
She is really beautiful. That first shot of her upper back from behind was astounding... and then we see her from the front.. just wow. Some people are just so blessed.

bars and beam...she shines, so good you want to cry
SParkApCider You are exactly right Kyla Ross is a great young woman, and is very humble, extremely intelligent and a great Artistic Gymnast. I wish her a very successful life, and a wonderful experience at University of California Los Angeles.
This is so beautiful I want to cry. Good luck!
And now it’s been a few years and she’s even more well spoken and elegant! And most importantly she’s happier!!
Kyla is an amazing and such a talented and hardworking gymnast she is one of my favorites

I love these videos
I really hope she can make it back to Rio! It's going to be hard with all these girls coming up. And they're only getting better!
Omg please do another one!!!!
I was sad to hear that she stopped elite now
I think she realized that the 2016 Olympics weren't going to be possible.
Isn't she a UCLA gymnast now?
+Ag Lovies next year, I think she is graduating high school this year.
+Marieke D she's in college and goes to UCLA
Not until September
Strength, skill, grace and beauty! Love!
She and her best friend, McKayla Maroney were wondrous in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. I hope you can do a story on McKayla Maroney.
She has one posted already.I'll send it to you.:)
Maya Bellow Did Deanna Hong do a story on McKayla Maroney? If yes, why isn't it posted yet? :(
"the person is not a machine" yes!!!! We stan
Girl love this video!! 💞
Know the struggle. Did gymnastics until age of 13, had to stop because I grew to much. I'm now 6'0, which is not very convenient for a gymnast..
I'm in the same boat. I'm 5'11. Quit when I was 11
I met a girl in college who ended up 6'1" and her best event was bars but she kept getting deductions because her feet kept hitting the other bar. She had to quit. That makes me sad.
I also had to quit gymnastics as an early teen because I had a growth spurt and I had a hard time keeping my flexibility and I ended up quitting.
Yeah, that was one of my main reasons to quit to, hitting the low bar with my feet while swinging on the high one.
I competed at 6'0 but luckily mens gymnastics doesn't have anything to smack your toes into if you're too tall.
The only video on TH-cam that was posted two years ago where most of the comments were from two years ago. *I’m about to ruin it >:)*
Kyla's grown up and matured very much, she's much taller than she was then, it will still be tougher now with more girls improving and moving up the ladder, I think that she'll have the best shot to make it back on the team to Rio. Best of luck to her.
I love seeing how she does gymnastics at her home gym.
Glad to see her happy and taller :)
Beautiful, Talented and Strong Kyla Ross 💖💐💪
KEEP MOVING.................................DON'T STOP....................
She looks more relaxed now and seems to be enjoying her time at UCLA. Its great to see her still doing what she loves.
Bless Kyla for her inspiration! Best regards to her at UCLA.
amazing. nice video!
Excited to Kyla and Maddison going to UCLA! The UCLA team is so bonded and strong. It will be fun to see them work with Jordyn!

She makes everything look so easy!
What an absolutely gorgeous young woman ... wow ... perfection, plus a super athlete.
So happy we get to watch Kyla at UCLA!
The gymnast I definitely want to see in Rio!
Kyla is just looking really strong on bars. I just hope that she can bring back her in-bar work, to increase even more her SV
Love this!
bar pak full looks amazing !!

(Maybe just a matter of perspective, though.) Anyway - super vid and I really look forward to see Kyla again this year.
Beautiful videoes.👌
Love her.💜
The Bhardwaj! Love it
I really wish she came back because it's too late now they already have the 2016 team...:-(
i love the leo omg
Love her so much!!

She is so strong.
Sweet video, I see Fish Hano and Brielle future UCLA teammates in the video as well.
I heard that she retired, which made me sad because I loved watching her gymnastics. Is this true?

@@pantalaimon1982 Indeed ;)
her coach is so adorable!
2019 anyone?
Is anyone seeing this now?
Who else saw Brielle (another person from UCLA) at 3:13
i think felicia (fish) is there too
Good luck, Kyla, all the best !
is she coming back??
3:03 you’ll see Fish and Briel Nguyen
If she does these upgrades with her inbars [which were re-added at camp] she'll have a 6.9! With the bhardwaj connected back to the HB she'll have a 7.0!

she seems a lot more comfortable doing interviews that's for sure
La belleza de esta gimnasta es superlativa 🤩
Love this girl
Is that Laney Madsen at 0:42?
LOVE HER
and now she is 5'7",good growth spurt
Is that Brielle nyugen at 3:01?
Kyla looks so much bigger/stronger....wow..so much change...
I miss Kyla's Bhardwaj- wish she had used it for her NCAA bar routine!
I saw you at DGA
Good luck in collegiate gymnastics! I know you'll be great!
♡
With Kyla’s height, she does have to beef up her muscle, and deepen her strength,so that she can do routines well.Good luck Kyla 👍🏻🌷🌷
