  • I will be forever grateful for the experience and knowledge that I learned along the journey, but unfortunately Hyundai as a auto manufacturer doesn’t provide their automotive technicians enough compensation by providing inadequate and inaccurate labor time standards for warranty repairs! I had to take my experience and knowledge to the next journey so join me as well what holds next for me and my tool box!

Hyundai makes it very hard to make even a little money off warranty for example I'm a Hyundai tech i diagnosed a brake vacuum pump fault issue on a car that wasn't even sold yet and i didn't even get paid for it because there was an op code for it

Hey buddy Id like to pick your brain. Im currently working at a chain tire and lube place in Cincinnati, Ohio. Finishing up my 2 weeks notice. The 31st will be my first day at Jeff wyler Hyundai.
During the interview process I came across a video on the theta engines and warranty labor times. The video was posted by a former Hyundai master tech who said that it just wasnt worth anymore. I was concerned and told the service manager. He said that someone posted a video on pulling the engine through the front bumper vs dropping it out of the bottom. And that's where the time cuts began. He said that he covers his guys on this particular job incase theyre not meeting the times. He said that he could give me 17 hourtly with a guaranteed 40. And still have the opportunity to make flat rate time.
So my thoughts are that i have only 8 months of professional experience. Im 31 with kids don't have time to go to school or i would go that route. Working dorectly under a master tech doing engine swaps and rebuilds, that experience seems priceless.
200 dollars a month towards tools. A lot of money not coming directly coming out of my pocket while prices on everything else is going up.
I was really concerned after seeing your videos. I thought I could maybe at least get my foot in this dealership and tramsfer a while down the road. Does Hyundai encourage getting certifications other than manufacturing training? I would really like to specialize at some point in drivability and diagnostics. Would this be a good route for me to achieve that goal?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

does CIA have brand new shop equipment with top of the line machines? if not, that is also something to consider, i dont want to use shit from the 80s that could risk my life and limb just to "make better book time" ive seen the locks on lifts break, get stuck, cars tip etc. on old shitty equipment, not worth my time as a tech. if i show up to interview and i see their shop is old. i just walk right out.
