I have the Kiprun KS500.2 as a daily trainer and the KD900 (first version) for faster sessions and some of the less important races. The KS is a great shoe, but could be a bit softer for a daily trainer. Also, after about 500km, the foam has lost a lot of softness, while the outsole is still holding up.
The KD900 is absolutely great, especially considering the price. I was afraid they might be a bit too firm for longer races, but still they felt fine in a (charity) half marathon. I have run about 300 km in them and they are still good as new. The midsole is still responsive and the outsole has almost no wear.
I suspect the KD900.2 will have a similar durability as other Kiprun shoes.
Now I can't wait to see what they've done with the new carbon plated model. Looking at the increased price, it better be on par with the major brands.

Lemmy is often the soundtrack to my short, angry, quick runs. Love it. Also love that Kiprun are trying to shake up the market. You're right, there's too many overblown shoes out there that just aren't fun.

I have version 1 of this model and I like it. Its shape is a little narrow, but its midsole is not soft like many newer generation shoes, and I particularly like firmer midsoles.

Sound good and definitely worth a consideration if they’re ever in a sale! My Saucony Axon 3s just keep getting better the more I use them (305 miles in them now). 1:33 HM training run today in them. They now feel a bit like a plated shoe with great cushioning/energy return. My favourite shoe for pure running enjoyment. You’ve got to get yourself some!

I tried this shoe yesterday in Decathalon along with the Sl2. I was very pleasantly surprised. The outsole rubber did seem a bit thin, so my only really concern is durability.
SL2 is tempting but the fit seemed odd - very narrow under my mid-foot. The upper wrapped around and under the side of my foot. But not in a snug way - I could feel it rubbing as I ran 😬

Decathlon tried to make a beachhead near me across the Bay from San Francisco USA. I was not impressed with the shoes, but the running clothing and gear was great. They failed to get the success they wanted and pulled up stakes and went back to UK. My impression is that they are a great bargain resource that is able to offer in-house designs to match popular products at a rapid pace, not a year after the fact.

@@EDDBUD I was near-ish you last week when we helped the boy move to attend grad school in Bournemouth. I recall seeing a Decathlon, but maybe that was when we were staying in Kensington before heading South. Or Brussels? it was all a blur. Regardless, the clothes were cutting edge, but the sizing was oddly random; a Lg in one thing, like a shirt, was vastly different in a Lg in another style of shirt.

Thanks for the review. I won't be buying those based on the tongue length. I had a similar experience with the PUMA forever run where the tongue was long and thin. We need the tongue to just support the top of the foot during lacing and to provide ENOUGH padding to prevent lace bite. My experience with the PUMA forever run has made me look at shoes with enough padding here as I don't want to go through that again. Thanks Bud.

    • @EDDBUD

I have their trail shoes, MT2? Use them for trail and the odd fell race, 5mm lugs for grip, hard to fault them. Only seem to go up to UK 10.5 for some reason?
