Great review and comparison, and your narration with your point of view I find much more valuable and helpful than a silent video that just shows the knife.
I agree completely. DON'T GO SILENT! I despise those mime videos. I get 5 seconds into them and then go to another video. They always get a thumbs down from me.
I appreciate hearing what you think, I like hearing a different perspective. Personally i would choose the older knife if you try cutting fine paper you will find the older scissors work better. I have large hands and the new contoured scales don’t fit my hand very well. Of corse the newer can opener is better and I think the older saw only cuts in one direction ? Where the new saw cuts on both the push & pull strokes. Good video thanks.
Thank you. The first is always the most difficult. I do find the scissors cut well, it just feels like it will break if I use it. You are correct about the saw, only one way on the older model. Macro picture of the saw teeth can be seen in my other video if you care for a look: th-cam.com/video/xZJuepCvY0w/w-d-xo.html
I believe Wenger didn't automate production until the 1950's, whereas Victorinox automated in the 1930s. The fit and finish of a handmade knife are far superior, but there are more imperfections to see. Gives character, I guess.
What a stunning condition 80yo knife ! It's hand made & finished so I'd expect imperfections I guess. The modern tweezers are crap ! You forgot the #Wenger & #SwissArmyKnife tags
Oh, no they don't work with youtube strangely."Tags can be useful if the content of your video is commonly misspelled. Otherwise, tags play a minimal role in your video's discovery. @@MultitoolsandBlades Oh OK, it must have changed, because the "How to promote your TH-cam channel" videos were really posting it last year.... Cheers...
Why are you calling the classic Wenger wengerinox? Were they already bought by Victorinox back then? Anyway, I prefer the old one, because of it's historical value, because it's way more beautiful and it seems to be made with more substantial materials, more metal. Antique stuff are usually way better quality than modern product's, even though SAK's have very good build quality anyway
It pissed me off that Victorinox killed the Wenger brand, disrespectful to such an old brand with heritage. It literally makes no sense why Victorinox decided to "merge" the brands and lines of products as only Victorinox, it looks to me that they're trying to take the credit from Wenger and their own products, wth?
@My Princess It is worth noting that when Victorinox killed off Wenger, the ex-CEO moved to Swiza, a swiss watch maker. He took with him the talent from Wenger and they started making Swiza knives. They are great pocket tools but are more expensive than Victorinox and Wenger for comparable models: th-cam.com/video/R0FYgPi_mxM/w-d-xo.html
That old but new Wenger is sooooo sweet! You own some of the most beautiful SAKs that I have ever seen.

Thank you. Your kind words give me confidence.

The old one is a LOT better. If I have a choice I would not think twice

It looks like the old one had a lot more metal than the new one.
The Victorinox pieces of the 40’s are superb, and are far better built than the wengerinox and any SAK since!

Always have voiceover
Is that toothpick made of bakelite ??
If it is, treat it like glass !
No idea, but it's funky

@Edward Fletcher what are tags?
@@MultitoolsandBlades Hashtags, so the algorithm can help people find your content.

Wenger used to call themselves Wengerinox back in the 1940's - it is on their tang stamps and is on the packaging this model came in.

I've had both and generally found the Wenger to be inferior to the Victorinox in design, quality and longevity.
