    Im wanted to do a compairison of these two smart irons.. to see if they are compairable..I have had the Rowenta for around 3 years or so and its just so heavy so I liked the idea of the olio because you don't have to pick it up...my conclusion is they are very comparable so if you want the touch technology and 30min shut off go with the oliso if you want steam and an 8min shut off timer go with the Rowenta DW9280

    Why are you using your iron as a humidifier? You are releasing the steam into the air, not your work.

    The way she uses the burst of steam on the Oliso is odd- lifting the iron off the fabric. Keep the iron on the fabric and hit the steam burst button. Works fine. Also, leave the iron flat on its sole. That’s the whole purpose. Love my Oliso

      Mary she said it wasn't a professional video and she was right. I love your review because you noticed what I did that she didn't have the iron on the fabric when steaming. And my goodness she needs to clean her iron,. I was surprised she did the video with a dirty iron. But I like her her because she is trying to give us information and bought both irons. Way to go Crystal. I subscribed.

    Whoa! I’ve never seen anyone iron so fast. I’m not surprised your hands hurt. Let the tool do the work. Steam button is for EXTRA steam burst when iron is already in contact with the fabric. There should be sufficient steam for most situations in either iron without the need to use the button.

    I’m so grateful for your review! I do a lot of ironing besides sewing ironing and I’m looking for an iron that can handle both. I’m so surprised to see the oliso out perform even without steam! I’ve had rowentas that leaked and quit after a few years. My current iron is literally falling apart and dropping plastic! I’ve been researching for a while. I hadn’t considered the constant need to stand the iron up.

    I got the impression you were partial to the oliso. Our machine dealer stopped stocking them as one exploded. Not much difference in weight just that you didn’t need to lift it. My Rowena is >10 years old and still steams and irons like a champ.

    I’ve considered the Oliso but I’ve heard way too many complaints about how many problems they have with leaking, the feet not retracting like they’re supposed to, and poor customer service from the company so I’m afraid to spend that kind of money. Since I’m a quilter my main requirement is high heat, not so much steam. Still undecided but leaning toward a Shark or Rowenta.

    idk but aren't you supposed to press the steam while on the fabric not holding iron up in the air? maybe, and I mean just maybe, that's why you can't get the lines out.

    hello
    i use Rowenta for the last 20 years and i will take again, my last is Rowenta DW8215 2800W
    with rowenta i do not had the need to use extra water
    the oliso look how many holes it has for steam to come out , it would be great for collaring knits but for cotton sheets it would be a nightmare
    it is available rowenta at 1500watt with automatic temperature drop when it remains stable and a much faster start as soon as you shake it
    with out steam all they have to do with the watt of the iron
    also is very important to clean the rowenta because something is stuck and it will exit on an other cloth and if you don't get steam a little slower as you use the other one, the steam you use it when the iron is on the fabic also the spray
    use it correct and it will be your right hand

    Hi: looking for a new steam iron. Have had 3 Rowentas. They leak. They’re heavy. How do you feel about the Olisio now that you’ve had it for 2 years? Is there a model with more steam? In this video the Olisio seemed to out perform the Rowenta. Thx for doing this review.

    I've had my Oliso for 2 years. I love it but last year I dropped it, on my toes. Yes! Broke that toe right before going on vacation! The iron survived, so did my toe eventually. What never was the same is the steam setting. I can't do bursts of steam anymore. I'm strictly a quilter and have been considering a rowenta steam station. I like steam on my piecing. BUT I have arthritis and nothing beats the lift of the Oliso. So I've decided to buy another Oliso. I think I would just set fire to my home because I'm not used to setting an iron on its tail anymore.

      Oh noooooo!!! That would be awful so you got a broken toe and oliso got a broken steam! So glad you got a new one I agree I love the steam of my Rowenta but I love the life of the Oliso I too would burn down my house because I can not get use to standing back up my rowenta. I hope Rowenta does make a lift one and some point steam plus lift would be amazing

    I think the reason that you did not find a comparison of the two irons is that they are designed for very different circumstances. I own the this Rowenta, and I also own an iron very like the Oliso. The Rowenta is more of a household workhorse iron, it puts out a lot more steam. If you had to iron a lot of heavy suiting fabrics, you'd definitely find the Rowenta more efficient. Personally, I iron a lot of shirts, and the sheer volume of steam from the Rowenta makes this go very quickly. On the other hand, if I were ironing lighter fabrics for, say, quilting. I might be constantly going back and forth between my sewing machine and my iron, for example. In such circumstances, the Oliso would be a lot less hassle. The Rowenta is like a heavy-duty truck, and the Oliso more like an agile motorcycle.

  • @TRsPlace
    @TRsPlace 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    CrystalAnn Did you do another comparison as you said you would a year ago? If so I have not found it. I would love to see a comparison redo.
    A couple things; you kept lifting the Aliso and standing it upright while ironing and repositioning fabric and You are moving it very fast in my opinion.
    I have a rowenta for 15 plus years and love it. But I'm looking to purchase one specifically for quilting.
    So as I read over it the comments I'm wondering how Oliso has held up the last two years.

  • @mariawheeler9536
    @mariawheeler9536 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    You are not using the Oliso correctly. You do not push the steam button and then put it down...you push the steam while it's on the fabric. My Oliso steam is fantastic!

    • @mariawheeler9536
      @mariawheeler9536 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also...you cannot use distilled water in the Oliso you will damage it and it will leak! The instructions for your Oliso clearly state to use tap water or spring water ONLY! NO DISTILLED!

    Just found your website. Thanks so much for this demonstration. I’ve had at least 4 Rowena irons over the years, and although they iron beautifully, they all started to leak and/or “spit” after about a year. None lasted more than 3 years, and that was using them while they leaked or spit. For as expensive as they all were, I was so tired of dealing with the problems, I started buying less expensive irons. I was thinking of getting as Oliso as they are popular on many of the quilting websites. I’m glad to see that you are happy with the Rowena and have had it for 3 (?) years with no problem other than the weight. I have a Black and Decker iron now, which works OK, but doesn’t steam as well as my old Rowena’s. I’m going to look into another Rowena based on your demonstration. Thanks you so much for this advice. Any other information you can give me would be appreciated. These irons are expensive, but I started quilting recently, so use my iron almost everyday.

      so glad you came here :) I do love my Rowenta but the weight is way to much for me. I know you owned alot more of these irons then I did but did you use the auto clean button? I would contact Rowenta and tell them how many irons you have went through because as expensive as they are that is not right I would hope they would send you a new one for all your trouble.. The only thing that I have done over the years is keep it stored in its own little spot used the auto clean and used the cleaner for the bottom and thats it. and you are right about the steam it is unreal Im about to be steaming my cousins wedding vail with it

    Your comparison was not "all things equal" The soleplate on the Rowenta was scorched, which would definitely affect the glide. Also, It would be best to time the ironing time for each comparison. There is less opportunity for bias. Otherwise thank you.

    The Rowenta I have has tons of steam holes all over the bottom, but water tank has to be filled too often. My Oliso has steam holes around just the top of the plate, but a larger water tank.. I love my Rowenta for doing my weekly clothes ironing. The Oliso is the best iron for my quilting, not having to pick it and put it down every time is awesome, especially for arthritic hands and wrists. I use only distilled water in both irons and never have calcium deposit.Thank you for sharing your review.

      Thank you so much for this I am the same way Rowenta is my everyday iron for clothes, getting wrinkles out of prom dresses ect and my Oliso is for my sewing/ quilt :) I totally agree on having to refill the tank alot I think its because the steam action is unreal and I use it like crazy. and the oilso has been a blessing for my hands and wrists I wish Rowenta would get on board it would be a dream. I will start using distilled water thank you for the tip :)

    You defiantly didn’t use each of these steam iron. You don’t have to raise it up. As 6our moving it along use 6our thumb on the steam button and a shot of hot steam hits what your pressing. The plesiosaur has a small amount of steam vents, the Rowenta has 400. The Olisa shuts off after thirty min, the Rowenta is 30 seconds. You can burn your house down in 30 min. The Rowenta is off. You complained about the weight. That’s half of the process. Use one of those cheap lightweight irons and see how they work.

    Wow! what a disaster of a so called comparison. First ALL things should be equal: time. fabric, heat setting and above all...who the heck taught you that horrible swishing back and forth with the iron way of pressing???? Pressing is lifting the iron straight up and down and placing the iron on the fabric without moving it back and forth. I have arthritis too and not surprised you are having pain with all that unnecessary movement of the iron, you are making your pain worse by what you are doing. I have both irons and prefer the Rowenta every time, even when I do tons of quilting without steam.
