You’ve done great reviews of the Reliable products. Sherri McConnell of “My Quilting Life” has a Rowenta model similar to Reliable’s Maven. Kimberly Joy of the Fat Quarter Shop has recently moved to the Laura Star, which is similar to the Maven. It would be great if the three of you could combine for a Vlog post discussing these irons. I note that even the Reliable Velocity heats the water in a separate tank at the back end of the iron. This is different from one’s typical “Black & Decker” sort of iron which relies on the temperature of the sole plate to create steam. In that sense, all four of these irons are operating on the same principle. The big difference is in the way each iron contains the water, and how that water gets delivered to the sole plate, and hence to the fabric. I have had a Reliable model similar to (may have been) the Velocity. I have owned a Rowenta “household” iron (not a steam generator), and I now use the Laura Star. I am happy with my choice. I still would appreciate a discussion of the differences of these irons, with each of you addressing “why I chose this iron”, as you so clearly have done here. It is completely legitimate to say that disabling the auto-off feature is critical for your work flow. Others will have different critical issues. I love hearing people really analyze their tool choices, especially when their choices are different. It helps inform my own decisions, and I can’t be the only one who needs this information.

Good review. I have had shoulder surgery so your points were well-made. My nieghbor had a stash of irons (her husband did trade shows) and she is an ironing person. Anyway, she gave me an iron but auto shut-off is a must have and I don't mind the wait to reheat. I'm more afraid of house fire. I am leaning toward the Maven based on your review. Thank you.

I'm glad the review was helpful! I like that the Maven is lighter but still feels substantial. 👍

I like the capacity of the maven because I iron the sacred linens for our church and there are usually 50 or more items I need to iron at one time.

Both seem pricey. I’ve had pricey irons several times. They last no longer than the cheaper irons. My CHI steam iron has been my favorite iron! $59 at Target, 3 years use almost every single day. Yes! I’m a quilter.

Im wondering if you can use a silicon ironing mat to leave the maven face down on? Id like to put the water tank on the floor and the iron on my ironing surface right next to me, but i noticed you cant leave the head of the maven standing on its back end.

They definitely make silicone iron rests that would be appropriate for leaving an iron head face down. But I don't think the hose between the tank and the iron head would be long enough to reach your pressing on top of a table. 🤔

Thank you for your response. I'm still debating between these two or a Laurastar iron. decisions, decisions....@@matantequilting

I have the maven, because of its weight (lighter ) . It’s a wonderful iron, mine is over one year old and so far so good. I thought of buying the Laurastar but it’s out of my price range $$$$$.
The only disappointment for me is the iron does not have the constant steam , I have arthritis in both hands and it is tiring sometimes to keep it on. Thank you again for your great demo..
