Heh... its nice that these gods have a “childhood”, and a childhood place they love to dance at or to “play at”... very interesting for giving them a personality...
Another inimitably rich, vivid Lovecraft storyscape. Another inimitably superb Gordon reading. Ian brings Lovecraft’s imagery to life. His readings inspire the listener to fully inhabit each story. A challenging task he accomplishes exceptionally well and without exception! Thank You Ian.
Have been on busy a lot and listening to Sherlock Holmes when I can, however, returning to HorrorBabble today with this awesome reading of "The Other Gods" by HP Lovecraft reminds me even more how much I need to return to the dark and misty abysses of classic horror. Fantastic reading, thank you.
Great story and narration! It reminds me of old tales of lore told around a fireplace or campfire (by Ian, of course). When they see stuff carved unto the rock near the end, my mind goes to Arthur Gordon Pym and I am reminded of the stuff they heard and saw carved into the ice. Thanks!
This story makes me appreciate and admire Lovecraft's own fascination and references to myth and the powers above even more. How he is able to place the reader within the tale through his lurid, enveloping and powerful prose is simply astounding.
This is wonderful Ian. Thank you for HPL’s poetic justice. This piece brings me memories of AC Clark’s Kingdom of Sulphur. I think it was an epilogue to Rama. Not to shadow this explanation if black cats, but these summits are ♦️🎩💥🖤... By the way thank you for the subtle sound effects. They brought me straight in ❤️🙏🏽

Phew! Finally caught up with all of your recent releases since "The Secret in the Tomb"! i've gotten a real surge of inspiration after listening to all of these in a row, and i'm about to go and listen to your new original work "Vanity LTD." Great work as always Ian and Jen!
Interesting and good story. But not unsettling. It feels more like a warning. That it is not good for mankind to stray to far from home. But I guess that it is in our nature to do so anyway.
Thank you Horror Babble :) You guys are amazing. I wish I still had social media just so I could send you some more subscribers! Is there any other way I can support your channel?
@ ETERNAL LOSER...YOU CAN GIVE MONTHLY VIA PATREON & BUY TEE SHIRTS & MUGS , GO TO BANDCAMP & BUY FROM THERE...I LOVE H.B. & TRY TO SUPPORT IN ALL WAYS. HOPE YOU WILL TOO !!
I stopped all social media in 2010. im a network engineer by trade for 22 years.; now disabled with tumors and growths any hp lovecraft fan would sadly relate to if they saw themselves with such obtuse charlantry on the human form. I was one since 1993. i hope that says volumes.
Thanks Eternal Loser! Bitty Bitty has very kindly pointed out our other platforms. Gerson Joel - I'm sorry to hear about your situation, I'm thrilled to know you as a HorrorBabbler. :) Ian
Hello again Ian! Very recent news is saying there’s a newly discovered Lovecraft piece named “the cancer of superstition” commissioned by Houdini, you’ve gotta try and get it, I’d love to hear it and I bet many others would too!!
Hello sir! I believe C. M. Eddy, Jr also had some involvement with the manuscript, and as such we won't be able to touch it, considering the fact that Eddy's representation recently issued a copyright strike against our recording of THE LOVED DEAD. Despite my efforts to contact them to discuss the matter, my emails were ignored. Sorry about that!
My apologies for disagreeing - the whole premise i believe to be diametrically opposed to what you describe. man overreached. unknown parts of universe slapped him down. Warm happy philosophical circular endings are most certainly not h.p. lovecraft
hello Ian, your voice is so perfect to recite a poem called "The Hollow Men" by T.S. Eliot, perfectly haunting intro if you ask me, hope you give it a skim one day☺perfect intro
Are those « Other Gods » the deities of the Cthulhu Mythos? Also, I’d like to know who is your favorite mythos entity? Thanks for the reading as always!
HorrorBabble my favorite is Yog-Sothoth. I like the fact that he is omniscient and can be sometimes "good" like in "Through the Gate of the Silver Key" and other "evil" like in "The Dunwich Horror". In fact, he only offers his knowledge, and some men lose their mind, while Randolph Carter was able to see the god while remaining relatively calm.
This story ressonates with me cause i have recurring dreeam about being launched into the sky by some uknown force, and i just close my eyes and feel the terrible vertigo
I am a fan of HP. However, these fanciful stories are filled with a lot of information without the benefit of any action. IE anyone needing something....pledging or engaging oneself to some 'action'. Without action, there can be no tension. Without tension, there is no fear. Without fear, there is no horror. Equating to a flat and meaningless story about nothing. 😢
One of my favorite stories from H.P. Lovecraft.
Heh... its nice that these gods have a “childhood”, and a childhood place they love to dance at or to “play at”... very interesting for giving them a personality...
The music really brings the story to life. :D
Thanks Krista! The music ties it to The Cats of Ulthar, as both feature the character, Atal.
Excellent, by Dagon! 🐙

Ian brings Lovecraft’s imagery to life.

Thank You Ian.
Thank you Richard!
The soft background music was perfect. Another awesome reading.
Ive become addicted to your HP Lovecraft narrations
I love the way you read Lovecraft. I hear only this voice when I read his stories at home.

Loving the background music for this story. This channel is like fine wine, getting better with time!!
This might be my absolute favorite of HPL's work, the ideas are just so interesting
Masterfully done, this is one I'll listen to until it wares out. Thank you very much!!

Another great reading by Ian Gordon. Thank you so much. Your reading of "At the Mountains of Madness" is simply out of this world. :)
Great reading a usual. This is a personal Lovecraft favorite. My thanks.

About time you brought this one out.
this is poetry! ein gesamtkunstwerk. the reading, the music, lovecraft would have loved it......
What a terrific tale and wonderful performance!
The music sure helped make this an eerie tale .
Great narration once again.
Audible ad: nobody tells stories better than...
Me: aggressively pushes skip button and says Ian Gordon
So... declaring himself greater than the Gods and seeking to surpass them ended poorly? Color me surprised. 😄
Nothing better than something fro the Dream Cycle before sleep.
Perfect timing.

I only recently discovered you guys. I love the lineup and the litreary horror fiction format. Very refreshing. Love the great narration too. Kudos!
Thanks Aaron - great to meet you, sir! Ian
Madame actually, born this way and everything but, hey! :)
Forgive me Aaron... great to meet you, madame! :D
Thank you!

Atall is featured in the Dream Quest of Unknown Kaddath and The Cats of Ulthar.

He became a new god. A god of wisdom. A god of gods and a god of men. What knowledge he now possesses transcends the knowledge of all.

Thanks Philippe. I don't have a favourite, per se. But I am fond of Ghatanothoa (first appearing in Out of the Aeons).
HorrorBabble my favorite is Yog-Sothoth. I like the fact that he is omniscient and can be sometimes "good" like in "Through the Gate of the Silver Key" and other "evil" like in "The Dunwich Horror". Yes, and I like the descriptions of Yog-Sothoth a lot. Certainly one of HPL's most developed entities.
This story ressonates with me cause i have recurring dreeam about being launched into the sky by some uknown force, and i just close my eyes and feel the terrible vertigo
howard could write man.
Indeed
If he didn’t scream his narration maybe he wouldn’t have been caught, huh?
😍
