Omg!…I said the exact same thing…i am outside(2 years into the future from you by the way)…,after that intro I told myself,no this is for evening time after dinner ,I can’t waste it now!
I can't tell you how much I enjoy these recordings, lovecrafts style really "clicks" with this sort of narration/voicework. I don't think I would have found his body of work accessible otherwise. Thanks for the time and effort you put into these!
I was about to write, "Nice to know I survived for once..." but then I realized, You Fool, you've posted here already! Cheers Warren, whose mind, like Carter's, is clouded!
I am sorry as a fan of this channel that Remix INTRO brought me so much enjoyment!!!!…I was lazily expecting to lipsynch the announcement of the death of Warren!…Shout out Warren,Shout Out Ian,you get a cup of coffee for that !
Loved the ‘you fool...’ and the merch idea! This stuff will become legendary urban, rural legendary ...anybody called Warren might find Where’s Warren? calls as annoying as anybody called Wally...
A wonderful example of why narration is so much more than just reading words from a page. It's about understanding the characters, their motivations and the cadence of the story.
Well done, Ian. Perfect Intro. This story is one of Lovecrafts more broadly entertaining stories, a stand out. Just so you know, this channel is one of only 3 that I allow to notify me of any new content, and that is because you put out quality, not constantly spamming your subscribers with nonsense. Your channel is a great thing, and you should be proud of your work.
"Heard it well up from the innermost depths of that damnable open sepulchre as i watched amorphous, necrophagous shadows dance beneath an accursed waning moon. And this is what it said: "WE'VE BEEN TRYING TO REACH YOU ABOUT YOUR CAR'S EXTENDED WARRANTY..."
I searched in vain for this swamp and graveyard for years when I lived near the Gainesville Pike. Maybe I lucked out..... The area was still creepy at night, like the time my Jeep engine cut out and died in between Gainesville and Jacksonville! Great story and narration! The beginning is especially awesome! This is my favorite Randolph Carter story.
Lovecraft once said he intended for The Outsider to be a sequel to this. I think what's going on is that Harley Warren wasn't killed by the undead things in the tomb, he himself is also undead, kept alive artificially like Dr. Munoz or the zombies from Reanimator. He's researching incorruptible corpses because, like Dr. Munoz before him, his body is still decaying and he's looking for a way to stop it. He fails and when we see him again in Outsider, not only has he deteriorated into a grotesque zombie, his brain has also begun to rot which is why he's lost his memory.
I remember your first reading of this tale, and I gotta say you haven't lost your touch! A pleasure as always to hear these. And the bit of humor at the beginning was nicely done 👾👍
This story's ending was what I found most intriguing about your channels introductions. Since then, I've heard multiple new stories in this genre thanks to your brilliant narration. Thank you for everything you do, and thank you for doing the story that brought me to you channel! If anyone reads this, check out NEMESIS by HP Lovecraft on this channel. Another great piece!👏👏👏
I found it on joining the horrorbabble club .going threw and listening again to these great storys Warren at long last .love craft would of said no one could say it better than our Ian 😀😀😀💜🙏.
Lovecraft wrote a lot of stories about two men who go to an isolated place together, pursue a “forbidden” activity, and are permanently affected by it. Wonder what that could be about.
There is a band called The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets that bases their songs, albums, costumes, etc o HP Lovecraft stories. On their album The Dukes of Alhazred, they have s song called, "You fool, Warren is dead!:
Very cool and humorous intro and the story is magnificent! Am head over heels for Lovecraft's mastery of imagery that paints such a picture for the reader that they will literally leave their present consciousness and be transported into the setting itself.

It wasn't Warren who was dead, its me, because I died laughing!
I fell for it as well 🤣
Me too!! Classic!!!
Me too - I don't know if the mood was not somewhat shattered by it, but it was a great joke, nonetheless.
That was great.
I was hoping for something like that.
He said the thing!
Im new to the channel, but i was so used to warren being dead by now... threw me off.
Anyway, see you and warren later.
When my friends get murdered I always tell the police that a "dark cloud" surrounds my memory, and they let ME go home
Finally, we get the iconic story with the new iconic scream. Not gonna lie, that one caught me by surprise
I've bought the merch 👍🏼

I may be laid to rest now, complete
@@janetcw9808thank for the headd up. i was gonna sleep to this
I almost feel like commissioning Brian Blessed to announce in astonishment, "Warren's alive?!?"
My very first Lovecraft story, and as such it will hold a very special place in the black void that is my heart.
Just remember, you fool, Warren is dead
I will never tire of this story.
Same ...
A legend begins...
Legends never di..., oh wait.
I'm saving this for bedtime, he might still make it!

That intro was SO funny 😭 HB never misses!
I was about to write, "Nice to know I survived for once..." but then I realized, You Fool, you've posted here already! Cheers Warren, whose mind, like Carter's, is clouded!
Ok, I’ve listened to it a dozen times now. The opening gambit is bloody brilliantly delivered Ian. Every time makes me chuckle

Loved the ‘you fool...’ and the merch idea! This stuff will become legendary urban, rural legendary ...anybody called Warren might find Where’s Warren? calls as annoying as anybody called Wally...
Episodes like this are why we love you guys.
A wonderful example of why narration is so much more than just reading words from a page. It's about understanding the characters, their motivations and the cadence of the story.
You guys made the pandemic/lockdown way less horrible. Much obliged. 🙌

William!! A year later, I can't help but wonder....who are the other two??!😊🇬🇧
@@ktcooki276 funny thing, I had to check, and I guess I turned off the other 2. But not Horrorbabble.

This is my favorite Randolph Carter story.
My goodness! What a very funny beginning. The man's sense of humour is subtle and fantastic!
I've been listening for a couple of years and finally I found out what the intro is about. Perfect opening!
Just started and already awesome!!!! I'll be back at the end Warren.
Poor Warren we knew him well and yet the end is only the beginning.
Best one yet. 100 out of 10 stars. The opening...pure gold
Loved the intro. Thanks for this interpretation. It is extraordinary.
Thanks again, sir!

One of my favorite Lovecraft stories! Great job
I am glad to see that my cease and desist order was taken seriously and Warren was not declared dead.
Never mind--I listened to the audio.
You totally got me. Great narration
"You Fool! Warren is Dead!" Gets me every time
Can't wait to get the NEW Merch
When HP Lovecraft scares me less then reality.
Hahahahah ! That made me laugh, properly laugh.
Keep up the good work fella and stay safe.
You fool, Warren is dead! You did a great job narrating this story. A fellow listener help me find the genesis of this opening phrase I love!
Lovecraft wrote a lot of stories about two men who go to an isolated place together, pursue a “forbidden” activity, and are permanently affected by it. Wonder what that could be about.
“Warren always dominated me.” Oh, Howie.
This is one of Lovecraft's I've not read. Excellent stuff!!
Aha! At last...! Thank you very much. 😊

Are you telling me Warren is still alive?!
Edit: Didn't think too much about the title - only that this is Horrorbabble XD
Here in Florida.. NOT TOO FAR From BIG CYPRESS SWAMP..
Hmmm, I WONDER..
Warren: Return the slab!
17:14. Classic! You're making these five words immortal. Hmm, the irony.
I had to listen to the intro 3times. I though my TH-cam was “skipping”. 🤣😂🤣
Great intro.😂
Bela agrees.
