I feel like this film is genuinely horrifying not matter where you are from, one of the best horror sci-fi ever made. The man who made all the practical effects put so much work into making them he almost died and it really shows, amazing alien effects!

Yeah, I also watch it every year. Usually in the days between christmas and new year, when it is cold and sometimes snowy outside. Then it has this little extra touch. I remember playing NOLF in similar weather conditions because of those nice winter levels. The frostig on the cake. 😊
I never imagined you'd showed the villagers Alien and Aliens. But my jaw dropped when I saw this video and I thought: "You're showing them THE THING?!?" Great reactions : )
Yes but sometimes they are woefully inept at comprehending what they see. When its spelled out clearly. E.g im at the part when blair going nuts, its been clearly explained that hes worried about the virus/alien infecting the world. Understand experience makes things more difficult to understand but this is basic. A swimming pool?

This is my favorite movie of all time. So glad to see you guys are watching it! I think they forgot about the visit to the Norwegian base in the beginning after the Norwegians were killed. Over there they saw the base was destroyed and they brought back the weird body with two faces. They also saw the “bathtub” / cube which implies that the alien was frozen in there and Norwegians thawed it out. They also watched the tapes they retrieved from the base and it showed the Norwegians found some sort of ship crashed into the snow implying that’s where the frozen cube came from. The movie definitely doesn’t explain everything or tell you outright who’s infected but way in the beginning when the dog was still roaming around the base freely before being put in the cage, it went into a room and there’s a silhouette of someone. That’s the first person to get infected. You can match the shadow of the hair with each character. The puffy hair narrows down to only Windows and Norris. The frame of the body is on the chubby side so it can only be Norris. Whether or not the thing survived or if either of them was infected is still debated to this day. There’s no sequel to this movie but there’s a prequel that is shown from the Norwegian base perspective. That movie is just ok. I don’t think it adds anything important either because we already know what happened to thr Norwegian base.
Looks like they struggled with the concept of polar climate. They didn't recognize the thawed ice blocks as such but as a "swimming pool". Still, they're a good audience for movies.

Old movies have their perks. Nowadays, most special effect is CGI, computer generated, often actors act in a studio in front of a green screen and background effects are put behind them later by a computer. But before that all special effects were hand made and so there were many experts for puppetry, building masks, miniature models, automatons and such. This movie is a great example of that. Studios actually made a sequel decades later that everyone hates, the CGI looks a lot worse than the original's handmade effects.
They actually did do a prequel film to this in 2011 that tells the story that lead up to this one. You should DEFINITELY show them that one since they're now invested in knowing what happened prior. XD
The special effects of the various incarnations of the creature in this film are some of the best ever done, and I really enjoyed watching these men being shocked by it. I knew it would be a new experience for them. Also, the fact that they think that is smoke coming out of their mouths instead of their breath reinforces their inexperience with such temperatures. I enjoyed the cultural experience.
We saw this at a friends house. My friend could draw the monsters. This movie scared us too but we read the magazines like Fangoria about these movies and how they are made so it was a little different for us. 😄
i bet they will still be having nightmares about the scene of a big huge beer belly covered in Ginger hairs biting the doctors arms off..... post traumatic stress disorder.

He was a wolf-dog hybrid named Jed. "His first role was a brief one as a Norwegian dog in John Carpenter's The Thing (1982). The character he played in the film was the first form to be taken by a shapeshifting alien creature; some scenes required him to behave in an unsettling and unnatural way. Jed's performance in The Thing has been lauded by the many fans of the movie" - Wikipedia
P.S., I did chuckle when they suggested it was like coronavirus, and that they were blowing "smoke" out of their mouths. I guess they haven't been to a cold enough climate yet, where you can see your own breath.
Poor Bhabu started gagging at one point. I felt bad for him. In keeping with the theme of imposters and paranoia, perhaps Invasion of the Body Snatchers would've been an easier watch for them. Just as disturbing, but much less gruesome.
What would be the most painful and strangely debilitating place to have a 1-inch gash made for the purposes of sampling blood..? What's one of the places on the human body that has the highest concentration of nerve endings, comes in contact with just about everything needed for daily life, and gets bent flexed and squeezed hundreds of times on a daily basis..? The thumb. Why cut open the thumbs? How come nobody for the rest of the movie has a light bulb sized bandage on their thumb..?
The first "The Thing" was made in the 50's. This is the second of three movies. Fun to watch them all for a scary movie night. I would love to have them watch the first "Tremors". It's a classic!!
All these were inspired by a sci-fi story that was written in 1938 called 'Who goes there?' by John W Campbell. Planet of the apes and I, legend were also inspired by old stories.
Sir, the oldest movie they've seen so far is from the 1970s. Would it be interesting to see them watching even older movies. I recommend them watching Casablanca (1942) or Citizen Kane (1941). They will be mind-blown to see cars in the 1940s.
LOL when I saw the guys had reacted to this one, I was like, "are you trying to kill Babu?? Sheesh!" Speaking of horror, any chance you might show them really old classics like Dracula and The Wolfman?
It is quite complicated but at risk of being the milionth commentor to say this im going to anyways XD the ending isnt incomplete its like this because the whole movie was about doubt not knowing who is who and where the danger is. Now for the ending, it was like that because we arent supposed to be let off easy. We are stuck in this feeling of uncertainty not knowing if the danger is over or if the monster is still among us. Briliant ending to a great classic :)
My favorite horror movie. I cant think of a worse scenario to find yourself in. Youre battling an intelligent enemy, you dont know if its malicious or simply trying to survive, if it touches you...youre dead, its almost impossible to detect, it can only be killed with fire/acid and if it gets to water or transportation its not just the end of humans but THE ENTIRE WORLD. Every Winter when the wind howls i think of this movie. It inspired me to get a flamethrower cause...you never know 😅
I had nightmares for weeks after I saw this in the theater. You guys should watch the original "The Thing" movie made in 1953. This 1982 version is based on that movie.
I bet that put you right off your dinner tonight boys! 🤢I remember my brother renting this in the video shop when I was a little girl. Just love watching ya'll watch movies, the elder said, that they don't make movies like this in your home country, since I was a kid, always knew nobody makes the crazy, outlandish movies, and shows we have here in U.S.,..but to me, the myths, and legends, supernatural, from other countries, cultures abroad are so much more interesting, I'm sure in your culture there must be supernatural legends, we have them here too, but countries, and cultures abroad are older, many of those legends were brought here by people who settled here, but they didn't start here aside from native American cultures originating here in the Americas,..but here, there's been a heavy leaning towards science fiction, the original book this movie is based on was written back in the 1930's, "Who Goes There?, by John W. Campbell, which still boggles my mind, for when it was written, love how Carpenter made this movie,..painstaking effort, to make it as real as possible, and like you, pull the viewers in, have you on the edge of your seat the whole time your watching , and like the young man in the red outfit, I was terrified, and on the verge of vomiting, saw this in theater, with enough food to choke a horse, hadn't eaten all day, saw it in the afternoon, and into the first 20 minutes, after the dog transformation, no way could I eat another bite,.and fought hard to keep down what I had already eaten,..the paranoia in this movie is the real kicker, aside from the gore and horror of it all,..what I find interesting is, there are two shows, and Phatoms, is a book by Dean Koontz, in it, like thing, there is a shape-shifting creature , but it's depicted as something that's existed on Earth, before man, maybe even dinosaurs,...like thing once it devours someone, or animal, it can then impersonate that person or animal, it too was made into a movie, same name,..then there's The Outsider, book by Stephen King, made into a tv series,..again an ancient creature that can impersonate humans,..do check out these other shows, and books if you can get them in your language, sometimes the book is better than the show, but do see what you think, Godspeed, Peace ✌
If they can handle The Thing, maybe they can handle An American Werewolf in London. As a 49 yr old thoroughly desensitized westerner its literally the only horror movie that still scares me.
I saw this movie when it came out in the theaters. It scared me then and that is a good thing. (horror movies that dont scare me is crap.) Could I please ask what language it is that they speak? I’m a language nerd, and I got excited when Aman was counting the dogs at 13:39 because the numbers sounded even more similar to many European numbers than those of Hindi do. It sounded to me like Aman said “en, doe, tree” for “one, two, three”.

I remember when this movie was released. It blew my mind. It was and is such a good movie. One of my all time favorites. I am happy people are discovering it and are amazed of it still today. A very good reaction from our friends. Very much appreciate this channel. Much love to all of you. 💞
It's genuinely very interesting to see people this innocent watching this film which is one of the most gory films ever made.
And pretty soon not even the actors are gonna be real anymore.
The Thing is excellent horror movie. Great reaction.
This is one of the best movies ever. It was a pleasure seeing the reaction and hearing your thoughts after the movie.
We saw this at a friends house. My friend could draw the monsters. This movie scared us too but we read the magazines like Fangoria about these movies and how they are made so it was a little different for us. 😄
“Burn it idiot” 😂
I love these guys!!!! Feels like they are family
i bet they will still be having nightmares about the scene of a big huge beer belly covered in Ginger hairs biting the doctors arms off..... post traumatic stress disorder.
my new favourite channel, their so entertaining, i laughed out loud when babu said he sometimes sees pilots wearing headphones to listen to music hahah
Awesome! I recommended it, glad to see you watching it 😃
Thank you so much for your reactions to all that you do my friends. You are incredibly captivating and entertaining beyond many things I have ever seen in my life. I immensely love this channel and please continue to release your content. Love, peace and endless blessings to you and your loved ones. Namaste.
I love how Babu can watch the whole thing but there are parts where the man in red(Sorry i don't know his name) can't bear to look and covers his face.
The acting dog had such a menacing stare and presence in the film.
2:38 Alaskan Malamute
actually wolf hybrid. the actors found it not barking to be unnerving
What a choice of movie. Great reaction.
I love these folks!
Planet of the apes and I, legend were also inspired by old stories.
i learned from a friend that, if you speak Norwegian, the guy in the helicopter ruins the surprise of the movie.
Love this movie 🎥 glad to see you guys react.
Also show them the original "Night of the Living Dead"
Sir, the oldest movie they've seen so far is from the 1970s. Would it be interesting to see them watching even older movies. I recommend them watching Casablanca (1942) or Citizen Kane (1941). They will be mind-blown to see cars in the 1940s.
LOL when I saw the guys had reacted to this one, I was like, "are you trying to kill Babu?? Sheesh!" Speaking of horror, any chance you might show them really old classics like Dracula and The Wolfman?
They will love this movie. It was done so well!! That head that turned into a spider was used in the game Doom 3.
I both love and hate the fact we never see the Thing's original form.
There is a prequel that was released in 2011 to explain the Norwegian team!
I hope you decide to watch it in the future!
Yeah, the prequel will show them the story of the dog. Although John Carpenter has considered the "The Thing" game (2002) a sequel and canon.
They are gunna need to sleep with the lights on from now on. 😂😂
That wasn't smoke coming out of everyone's mouth, it's their breath, you can see your breath when it's really cold outside.
Omg yes my fav reactors watching my fav movie why a treat!
I bet that put you right off your dinner tonight boys! 🤢I remember my brother renting this in the video shop when I was a little girl. I hated it because of animals being hurt. 💔 I know it was just special effects I just can’t stand innocent animals being hurt. Love watching your reactions. You are all so lovely and warm. Since my mam died I am mostly alone now but when I sit and watch your show’s I feel like part of a family again. It feels so lovely. Have you seen Bohemian Rhapsody yet? I’d love for you to watch a film about Freddie Mercury and Queen. Absolutely adore Freddie, he makes me so happy listening to Queen songs. Anyway take care, thanks for sharing, it means a lot…Julie and Jimmy the cat in Manchester, England 🏴 🇬🇧 xx
,
My dad worked on the advertising for this film back in the 80’s.
Cant blame them for being scared. I saw this as a kid. Scared the pee out of me
Just love watching ya'll watch movies, the elder said, that they don't make movies like this in your home country, since I was a kid, always knew nobody makes the crazy, outlandish movies, and shows we have here in U.S.,..but to me, the myths, and legends, supernatural, from other countries, cultures abroad are so much more interesting, I'm sure in your culture there must be supernatural legends, we have them here too, but countries, and cultures abroad are older, many of those legends were brought here by people who settled here, but they didn't start here aside from native American cultures originating here in the Americas,..but here, there's been a heavy leaning towards science fiction, the original book this movie is based on was written back in the 1930's, "Who Goes There?, by John W.
Another great movie choice! Would love to see them reacting to some old jackie chan movies or maybe Ong Bak another great martial arts film.
You should have told them this is a much older story than just the movie, like 45-50 years older
If they can handle The Thing, maybe they can handle An American Werewolf in London. As a 49 yr old thoroughly desensitized westerner its literally the only horror movie that still scares me.
Which part scares you? The transformation? He only kills a few people. Is it the gore?
@@taoist32 the suspense I think. I first watched it at age 12 so maybe the fear is sort of embedded. Gore doesn't scare me, just makes me feel ill.
I saw this movie when it came out in the theaters. It scared me then and that is a good thing. (horror movies that dont scare me is crap.) Bought it later and love it to this day (really fun to have Norwegians in this movie since I myself am born and bred in Norway). Glad to see that the villagers are watching it too. This movie is a masterpiece, hope to see them react to *The Shining* aswell. Another great masterpiece,
Babu almost puked on himself 🤢 🤮 lol
They're too innocent for this movie haha.
Man you guys are brutal havin em watch this one lmao
lol....the poor young guy in the sweater looks like he's been scarred for life.
Very nice film😊😅😮🎉😢
Lucky. I wish i could erase the memory of seeing this movie so i can see it like them.
I love this movie. Along with Alien 1979. I am glad you showed them!
Could I please ask what language it is that they speak? I’m a language nerd, and I got excited when Aman was counting the dogs at 13:39 because the numbers sounded even more similar to many European numbers than those of Hindi do. It sounded to me like Aman said “en, doe, tree” for “one, two, three”.
Even 40 years later this movie is still scary.
Please dont keep stopping the movie
