Looks good, except that these vehicles do tend to get a lot of water thrown up to the area where you ran the wires through the body plug. A dollop of RTV or silicone where the wires run through would be wise.
You can definitely run it through the car but this is typically the quickest route and as long as the proper procures are followed (Avoiding hot or moving parts) and you tie all excess slack down, it is completely safe.

Could you take power from the 12v plug that's right there?
It is never recommended to use an existing system like a 12v power adapter. It will compromise the functionality of both systems sharing the 12 volts.
