Bought one for my wife. Looking at it I was doubtful. After she test drove it she loved it. Then I drove it around, love it! Long story short it's a solid car. Plenty of zip on flat roads and steep hills. I would buy another one anyday.

With car prices, gas price up the roof, not enough public charging stations, etc, these cars should make a big comeback to the US market. I'll definitely get one of these as long as the price stays below $15K

I have the (same model) Holden Spark in Australia. We bought it new in 2017 and have had no problems at all in it. Quite a sporty little car, handles well. Only downsides are that it aint that great on the highway compared to a larger car, boot and rear leg room is very small and the rear parcel tray has to be put up and down manually. To fold down the rear seats, you have to pull the bottom seat cushon forward which is weird, so I very rarely fold the seats down (also don't fold flat). A very reliable car though, no problems at all!

Go with the spark. Ive had a spark and now a sonic and the sonic has quite a few predetermined fail points(the sonic and cruze are essentially money pits) if you do prefer the sonic tho go with the 1.8L instead of 1.4 turbo.

I bought a 2019 chevy spark brand new, it now has 147,000 miles it. The transmission slips now and then on 1st to 2nd gear. It started doing that at like 80,000 miles on it. It also had several oil leaks at 143,000 miles. The cost to fix the leaks (gaskets and re seal) was $2,000. I didn't want to get rid of it bc it's such a good car. Anyways I paid 15k for it in 2019. The other thing that broke was the coolant reservoir connection to the hose. I had to get a new reservoir. I put a lot of miles on the car and I ve always kept up with the oil changes every 6k miles. (Book says every 7k). I'm actually thinking of getting another one. The gas savings are incredible!!!

Driving a Chevy Spark feels almost driving a golf cart made to be driven on the road. I rented one when I flew to Newark, NJ heading to New York city. This is a city car in my opinion.
If someone wanted a little more power with a hatchback setup, rent a Kia Rio crossover, it has more power, and fuel economy is similar.
