Rainie deserves a raise for getting them to do a podcast about lemonade mouth
FR
The fact they are unaware about the legend that is Bridget Mendler legitimately made me gasp, thank you for educating them Cailyn 🙏
the way I SCREAMED when Caylin brought up Starstruck!! THE OG fanfic movie slaps so hard
Next episode decided
FUCKING SAME
FR
I need starstruck !
Was thinking the same! The best
As Gen-Z trash, I’ve never clicked on an episode quicker. BEST. DCOM. EVER.
FR!!!! Never clicked so hard in my life! RIP my mouse
SAME!!
SO glad Caylin was there to speak for my generation. This movie was absolutely NOT about forming a band and was 100% an anti-capitalist, feminist, anarchy film.
frrrr and ppl wonder why we're always protesting SOMETHING
You guys NEED to have Cailyn on more because she is the voice of our generation and I have never felt more seen
I saw Hayley Kiyoko on tour last year and she did an a cappella "Determinate" moment and the way all of us in the crowd lost our MINDS. This movie truly lives in Gen Z's minds rent-free
I sang Determinate unironically at karaoke the other week. I’m 28 years of age
Please say it included the rap
You’re an icon, never change
Why did Rick pull out the BIGGEST water bottle I have ever seen at 16:42
I was not prepared to see HOW big it was 😂
it was bigger than what i imagined
literally had to come back and like this comment once i saw 😂😂
And then he didnt even take a sip! It felt like a nathan for you bit
i audibly gasped
From Disney singer/actress to now CEO of a Space Start up company, getting married/becoming a mother and soon to be future Doctor.
Such an inspiring life Bridgit Mendler has created for herself in a short amount of time. Proud of you Bridgit! ❤
some people live 5 life times and some of us can't remember our morning routines.
I think she already finished her PhD! We stan a woman in STEM
@@saraw2251 She’s not a doctor yet though!
@@silvercookies think of this as motivation lol
the lemonade as a metaphor for artistic freedom/expression:
they drink lemonade before their first detention together
everytime we see the band practice/brainstorm, they drink lemonade
the school is trying to stifle their expression and get rid of the lemonade (simultaneously, but also, the later as a representation of the former)
when they stage a roit (at the dance they use lemonade as a vessel to get people on their side
at the end of the movie, lemonade (or, specifically, mel, the owner of the lemonade brand) is brought back and made integral (mel sponsors an auditorium for their school) the same way that art and expression through art is integral in any political movement
Fun fact for Zach: Bridgit Mendler is one of Ian Hecox's celebrity crushes, along with Hedy Lamarr and Kesha
LEMONADE REPRESENTS THE ARTSSS! “Gatorade” sponsor represents sports that make the school more money and therefore get more funding. She IS a rebel with a cause.
They're making fun of my girl for running in to talk about Lemonade Mouth, but considering the fact that I am a try guys fan who has not seen any episode of this podcast before and truly only clicked because of the title, I think we should not underestimate the stronghold this movie has on people haha
The way I SCREAMED on my drive to work seeing that y’all did lemonade mouth! 😱
The way Zach didn’t know this was an activism movie disguised as a musical, deceased. 😂
Caylin is so real for Starstruck holy shit
I LOVED this movie as a kid! I need you guys to do more DCOMs
I don’t think anything prepared me for them not knowing who Dr. Bridget Mendler J.D was
If Kaitlyn and Rainey have no fans I am unalived
The Break Through scene was filmed near my high school so we got to be apart of the crowd and so if I squint I can see my head in the movie! lol
that's actually so cool and i'm so glad you got to experience something like that!
They joke about it, but this movie really was my first exposure to activism and protesting as a kid 😂. Also now that Gen Z DCOMs are on the table I NEED them to watch Let it Shine and Jump In (also low-key Teen Beach Movie as that's my fav DCOM, but I'm scared they'll rip it to shreds 😅)
I was thinking the same thing about teen beach movie 😂
Omg they NEED to do Jump In
Cailyn loving Lemonade Mouth and Starstruck and Mamma Mia as much as I do is such a serve ❤
I was NOT prepared for the level of DISRESPECT I was going to experience from this episode, I am crushed
Justice for Bridget Mendler here thank you to our gen z representatives
I'm not kidding when I say that this movie shaped me.
wen actually had a crush on the step mom in the book! sydney is typical college age(18-21)instead of just taking classes so in the book she’s closer to wen’s age 😭 and shes an art student in the book so that scene where he accidentally has her folder and she interupts the class.. in the book he opened the folder and there was naked portraits of herself in it and he was flustered IN CLASS 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
THERE IS A BOOK?!?!?! I shouldn't be surprised, but surprised i am.
Regarding the stepmom issue - a girl would be creeped out if her dad was dating someone only a couple years older than her. So Wen could also be weirded out, it might not be about his own sexual attraction to her 🤷🏻♀️
Although I am seeing from the comments that he was attracted to her in the book lol 😅
Bridgit mendler aka Miss Ready or Not- Miss Hurricane- Miss DO YOU MISS ME AT ALL.. they’ve been missing out horribly
In the book (yes this is based off a book), Wen gets a b*ner from the photos of his dad's gf, during class, bc they're portrait drawings or photos, or both, of herself nude. So yeah, hella embarrassing moment for him.
And instead of being sick at the competition, Olivia loses her voice screaming at someone (I can't remember who, maybe Wen) in a snow storm.
Charlie's story is a sad one. His brother passed away and he has continuous conversations with him in his head.
Anyone else read the book? I think it's a series. It's been awhile since I've read it!
I read it years ago because I was obsessed with the movie but I barely remember the book at all😢
I read the book, and it's sadder because Charlie's brother was his twin and I'm pretty sure he died at birth so Charlie was talking to who he thought his brother could've been.
Garrick suddenly bringing out that gargantuan water bottle really took me out
girl??? i cried for mo!! as an indian girl with a (somewhat) traditional family her mother accepting her after she was arrested???
3:27 Good Luck Charlie and Jessie were both like my favorite shows growing up
Tucci month was fun, but where is CAYLIN MONTH
Oh my god, please do an episode on Bottoms!! So, so funny, and a perfect guilty (or not so guilty?) pleasure.
feeling validated in my zillennial life watching them not know lemonade mouth and cailyn not knowing laguna beach while I was fully aware and present for both 😂
I need them to watch Let It Shine simply for their reaction to the Moment of Truth battle.
I will be requesting Lisa Frankenstein on every episode until it happens lol
I requested this one!!! Even though I’m the same age as the main guilty pleasures crew, my story is similar to Kelsey. I had just gone through a break up so I was home crying. Happened to catch the premiere and this random ass movie was everything! I smiled through the whole thing. Just the amount of cheesy I needed. It’s still one of my go-to’s on sick days. Literal perfection. Also love Rainie & Cailyn in this one!
When they find out that the actor who played Charlie was like 13-14 when they filmed Lemonade Mouth 💀 which is honestly probably why they actually didn't have him end up with Mo
Everybody say thank you Rainey!!
THANK YOU RAINEY (and ofc Cailyn)
I’m BEGGING for Teen Beach Movie next that was my favourite growing up!!
I need them to hop on old Olsen twin rom-coms… just need that for my health . Thanks
Passport to Paris is a must !!
Zach saying he puts the man filter on Maggie is the funniest thing I've ever heard
I just wanna thank cailyn for putting these old people in their place 🙏😌 and she NEEDS to come back and do starstruck cuz I know they're gonna rip that movie APART 😭
The idea that the movie had completed its story is such a LIE because the book it's based on has a sequel!
Garrick has such big brother energy in this episode
fun fact!! this is a pretty watered down version of the book it’s based on that dives deeper into their backstories and deals with heavier themes as well so yeah it is incredibly politically charged and incorporates social commentary
Lemonade Mouth was the first album I bought myself. Iconic
They need to watch starstruck next!
My grad cap was lemonade mouth themed bc I was staging in school protests my whole senior year, I fucking love this movie
When you're awkwardly in between the ages of Zach, Kelsey, Garrick and Rainie and Cailyn where you were just slightly too old and missed Lemonade Mouth but still young enough to experience the HSM trilogy in real time. Who do I relate to here?
I'm around Rainie's age and I witnessed HSM as it came out and completely missed Lemonade Mouth so this confuses me lol
I don’t get this, because I watched Lemonade Mouth as it came out and High School Musical 3 in theaters. And I’m 22
@@Anna-B im decently older than you haha. i was more target demographic for the first two high school musicals.
Me, I was 16 when lemonade mouth came out so kinda too old for it, but I still enjoyed it 🍋 (loyal to HSM tho)
@@adrianpink8144 I was also sixteen I think.
Millennial here: I only found out about Lemonade Mouth bc I fell in love with Haley Kyoko's music and went on a rampage trying to consume all her content. 😅
Woke up to the notification and I gasped. Then proceeded to play the entire soundtrack.
Can't wait to listen to the pod!
I need them to do Starstruck with Katelyn!!!
Stella from Lemonade Mouth was one of my lesbian awakenings as a kid lol
This movie is my everything so it was so exciting that y'all decided to cover it. The soundtrack for this movie and Bridgit Mendler's debut album were the first things I ever bought on iTunes when I was 12 or 13. Worth noting that there is an extra scene out there that takes place after the movie, which I am pretty sure is on TH-cam. It is 100% worth watching as a true epilogue.
I was 21 when this movie came out, I watched it with my niece! I went straight to the hair dresser and got an asymmetrical Stella bob. It was glorious.
Not you dropping this when I have to revise❤ I love this movie so much as a kid!! I thought it was so cool
another podcast, another request for brother bear -- i will not give up
It’s my birthday and all I want is GP to cover The SpongeBob SquarePants movie (or maybe Scott Pilgrim?)
not to "um, actually" queen cailyn but they actually DON'T kiss in starstruck, at least not on camera because the actress playing jessica, danielle campbell was only 14 while filming and sterling knight was 20
This is kinda unrelated but I find it interesting that Disney had the sense to not allow a 14 year old to kiss a 20 year old for a role and yet Netflix couldn’t do the same thing for one of their shows where Sydney sweeney at 20 years old kisses a 14 year old
This is a great example of why I firmly identify as a zillenial 😂
23 year old here, I was so obsessed with Jurassic World I wrote a fanfiction that people are still reading. Jurassic Park is so much better though (my favorite movie since I was 4).
That's the thing a lot of people don't get about movies and shows like that.
Do I acknowledge that the original may be better in many ways than the sequel/reboot? Yes dose that mean I or you have to stop liking them NO! And just because they may not be as good dose not mean their bad/terrible or that their is nothing to enjoy from them.
Genuinely one of my favorite Disney movies. Starstruck and Geek Charming are also in that same vein
Garrick looks so done lol
We need starstruck , let it shine , camp rock , radio rebel, another Cinderella story (Selena Gomez )
I dropped everything to watch this when i saw the video title 🤩 as goofy as it is, lemonade mouth was truly iconic to me growing up
Made it to the end & omg not knowing Bridget Mendler at the end!!!! 😭 sent me
You guys should read the book. (Spoiler: Mo doesn't end up with her ex-boyfriend at the end of the book.)
The fact that Trolls is Caylin's first example of a movie where she was frustrated there was no kiss at the end is hilarious! I love her!
Love that they were saying the drummer was too hot compared to the other "well casted teens"???????? HE WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO WAS ACTUALLY A TEEN, dude was 13 when casted and 14 by filming. All the others where full adults maybe thats why he "aged well" maybe because he's still in his 20s
yet another bottoms mention and yet no podcast review!!! rainie pls get them to devote an entire episode to this. the people need it!
At Christmas they need to do the good luck Charlie movie
I genuinely gasped! What phenomenal timing I’m so excited 🙏🏻
weekly plea for you to do step up 3d, anyway, yay lemonade mouth!
One thing about me is that Lemonade Mouth is my favorite movie, full stop. Bless Cailyn and Rainie for holding down the Gen Z fort on this episode. There’s simply so much I could say about it but I’ll leave it at this:
1. I feel that the political message of this film is actually quite strong, as they address arts funding in schools, the role of corporate sponsorship, the success of mediocre men (boys) due to wealth, protesting and punishment for that, etc. all while showcasing a variety of family structures and including disabled characters (minor, but a vast improvement from most dcoms).
2. Regrettably, Mudslide Crush kind of eats. Like the songs are not very meaningful or realistic, obviously, but some of the lyricism/rhyme scheme is surprisingly good and boy are they fun.
3. The music in general slaps. I listen to it on the regular (She’s So Gone is a particular highlight) and unironically have incorporated it into all of my playlists.
Basically, I love this fucking movie. I’ll try not to have my perceptions of y’all permanently altered by your critiques of it, but I can’t promise anything. Please listen to Bridget Mendler’s music ASAP to understand how uniquely talented she is.
P.S. The actor who played Charlie (Blake Michael) was 13 when they filmed this!!
Lol did not expect this movie, 😂 love this pod, makes me want to rewatch old gems
24:50 Sorry for starstruck spoiler (warning i guess, the movie is soo old already)
they did not kiss.
I feel like I was the only millennial who watched this movie! 😂 I literally listen to some of the songs weekly!
Honestly think we need a DCOM month..I need a Starstruck review. I need Stuck in the Suburbs. Wendy Wu. Go Figure. Give me more!!
Should read the book too because it’s really a lot different
I do in fact still have the cd from this movie in my 2004 Hyundai Tucson that does not have an aux port, but does take cassette
Being a zillenial means that I didnt know this movie/any of cailyn’s mentioned NOR any of the millenial host references 😭
yesss more dcoms! more dcoms!
17:31 So basically, she's the disney princess of the movie.
i love the try guys but i dont typically watch guilty pleasures just bc i never know the movies theyre talking about. saw this and sat stright up in my seat i got so excited.
I CLICKED ON THE EPISODE SOO FAST YES LEMONADE MOUTH
DETERMINATEEEEE
20:27 This was the original plot in the book, so… 😂
Garrick has such a big bottle omg
Hayley Kiyoko is lesbian jesus and the gays love this movie. she posts about it on her TikTok's a bunch too. Shes one of the disney channel stars who embraces the movies and shows she was on and isn't ashamed of it.
Came here from Spotify to say that yall We're making fun of Jurassic World, but not Starstruck?! I feel like that one has the reputation for being the worst DCOM hahaha
A couple of things I wanted to add to the conversation:
1. Blake Michael (drummer) was 13 when they filmed this movie. Probably part of the reason he didn't end up being the love interest. Also, this movie is based on a book.
2. Yall here in the comments need to go back and watch Starstruck because it is NOT good 😭 Also, they did not kiss at the end of that movie because the girl was like 15 and the guy was like 20
3. Black gen z knows Tisha Campbell for sure
I feel like the guys don’t like this movie just because this wasn’t a movie in their childhood. 😭
Also I believe Charlie never kissed/ got together with mo because at the time of filming he was 12 or 13 years old.
Also I cannot watch lemonade mouth without craving a cold crisp lemonade every single time they drank some 😭and I cannot believe nobody mentioned this in the pod
Would love to see them do The Parent Trap, Sydney White, Miss Congeniality, Jump In, Stuck in the Suburbs, Princess Diaries, Haunted Mansion, Step Up, or To All The Boys...there's endless possibilities.
I NEED a Ten Inch Hero pod next. I want to here comments about Jensens Tshirts 😂
WRONG AT THE END OF STARSTRUCK THEY CAN NOT KISS BECAUSE STERLING IS TOO OLD TO KISS DANIELLE SO THEY JUST SLOW DANCE IN SUNGLASSES AT THE DANCE
OH GOD PLS DO STARSTRUCK NEXT!!! That movie is legit tattooed in my brain
I feel like I’m the only gen z who prefers let it shine but lemonade mouth is a VERY close second trust
I loooove Lemonade Mouth! 🥰🥰 So happy they did this episode!
fun fact: lemonade mouth is based on a novel. actually. it's by mark peter hughes
