You could have used Merlin in the back because of her relic. It seems like the single target is at full power only when tgey get the blade of judgement buff that gets triggered either by breaking the shield from getting hit by a counter mid turn, revived, from the ultimate move or simply the turn after you use the shield. So the single target is somewhat weakened when used first turn. The AOE deals more damage when you have the buff that you get only first turn or post revive turn.

Not really. Goddess of harmony only increases your AOE's crit chance. It doesn't increase it's dmg
