    the Farmhouses will work all farm fields in the region, even if they are far away, meaning that some fields may not get fully plowed, sowed, harvested as the fields have a priority number and get worked in order, so the farmhouse far away will send all it's workers to that far away field to work it before they work the field close by. However, Farmhouses can have a dedicated work area similar to the logging camps, so you can, under the advanced tab assign a farmhouse to only work the fields near by to it and ignore the fields far away.

    @49:08 try using the rotate button to rotate which direction the plot is facing and see if that gets you the back yard you want. plots with odd shaped yards often get much smaller back yard then you might think because of how the houses get placed in them. Notice that the primary dwelling is always located in the right hand corner, while the second house is always in the left hand corner. Because the road curves UP to the right hand side, the primary house is pushed back the farther right it goes, thus shrinking the back yard in relation to the total plot size.

    Small houses just next to farms would help make more people hang out on that side plus it’d look cool

    With the house extensions, I found placing the front arrow at the narrowest portion of the lot for the housing area & making the back of the lot longer &/or wider, allowed me to make massive extensions for vegetable gardens & orchards (which way the house faces & the width of the starting arrow make a big difference on how the lot allocates the housing vs extension areas IME).
    I have had just 5 farms on my starter game the whole time which provided my village/now large town with a steady 800 vegetable supply, while also exporting anything above that number. 1 large orchard provides enough food for my large town that there is an excess of 60 apples after the winter & it is only on its second year. It means I have just 6 families providing 2 consistent food sources year-round for about 400 people.
    It is worth playing around with the lot/housing tool to figure out how to maximize extension sizing for passive food production IMO :)

      @@DeLadysigner Large backyards only matter for vegetable gardens and apple orchards, so other extensions do not provide more output if they are bigger. but they can make a big deal for those 2 extensions. Also if you want really big gardens and apple orchards, make the plot wide enough to accommodate 2 houses as the bigger the lot, the more work the families have to do to tend to it and harvest it. having a second family working a large garden or orchard makes that more efficient.

    I can't confirm if this is true, but I was told by someone on discord that chicken coop's produce 1.5 eggs per month. So you need a fair few of them to be a consistent food source for your village. If this is true, they supply enough to keep the family that has them fed, but you need a bunch for the rest of the village to rely on them. Again, I do not have verification on this number, but it seems accurate from my experiences.

    In addition to setting what goods are stored in the granaries and storage house (clicking on an item under the advanced tab puts an 'x' on it and that item won't be stored there) You can also give them work areas, similar to the logging wood cutter camps. So the granary near the Forager hut, you could set the work area to be the forager hut and the workers at the granary will only gather their goods from the foragers, making it and all the other granaries more efficient. [edit] I see you already know this.

    The farm houses have storage for wheat/rye, and all thrashing wheat/rye into grain happens at the farm, so it is best to not store wheat/rye at the granaries ass then the granary will transport wheat/rye to the granary, and then the farmers have to transport it back to the farm to thrash it into grain. Instead, store only the grain/bread in the granary.

  • @spamfilter32
    @spamfilter32 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

    After a field is harvested, the farmers will till and sow the field immediately. If they don't finish that before winter comes, the farmers will have to till and sow it again from scratch in the spring, delaying it's harvest. So you want to wait until it is officially winter before taking laborers off the farm or you will get reduced harvests next year. They will also not thrash the wheat/rye until after they finish tilling and sowing the fields, so you may cause wheat to not get thrashed into grain if take the workers off the farm to quickly.

    You only need one FarmHouse with eight families assigned to take care of all the fields, you don't need a FarmHouse for each field, it doesn't work like that.
    Another thing, building more buildings will not increase your production, only the number of assigned families will, which is why they have an assignment limit.

      @@DeLadysigner I'm American. A couple of years ago I was watching a walkthrough of a video game on TH-cam by someone named Gab Smolders. I watched hours of her videos and thought she was American, but there was a couple of quirks in her voice that I ignored. Then, I learned she lived in the Netherlands. I was so intrigued that I watched several TH-cam videos about the Netherlands and was amazed how good their English was. It was nearly perfect American English. In fact, it is better than American English in what we call the Deep South which has a very distinct regional accent there.

      @@virtualpilgrim8645Gab Smolders is indeed Dutch, but she lives in England. I was confused by her accent as well in the beginning.
