Amazing reconstruction! We can only imagine how an ancient structure looked like back then. However, the virtual reconstructions help so much more in getting a clear understanding of these magnificent buildings. Thank you. I’ll show the video to my 90-year old mom. She loves Roman history and architecture. Greetings from west Texas 🌞🌵🌻
The Romans were truly amazing engineers and builders every thing they did 2000 years ago we mimic today they were the true builders of the future an amazing race destroyed by power and greed, just like the world today.??
Restore the Colosseum(or even old monument) is not possible, because in this way the monument would lost his authencity, it would never been the same, and anyhow we don't know exactly his old aspect. sorry for the english
The original name was the Flavian Amphitheater , when Emperor Nero’s downfall he had a colossal statue of himself 120 feet in height at his palace, that statue was transported by 24 Elephants and taking in front of the Flavian Amphitheater , the statue was called the Colossal of Nero , because of the Colossal statue of Nero the name became the Colosseum.
the architecture of the old Rome is so extraordinary very impressive. the white house in America and the buildings in Washington DC they are a copy of the old Rome architecture and they look great!!
I was just there 2 weeks ago, been wanting to go since I was a kid. I'm 61 now and it was a thrill of a lifetime. I'll never forget it. The Colosseum, The Circus Maximus and The Forum (Palintine Hill) all in one day, I was speechless.
waow ! excellente vidéo sur COLOSSEUM**, les images sont vraiment fascinante*, grandiose*... ce monument devait être une merveille*, au temps de sa splendeur ! merci à vous pour ce partage : )
I am floored, :o amazing, the Coliseum never looked so beautiful until now. I would have loved to have seen in it's glory. This is how an NFL Stadium should be built. I would love to see an NFL Team in a stadium that resembles the Coliseum.
When Jack Kent Cooke had The Forum built in Los Angeles (in the mid-1960s) for the Lakers and Kings, he had the exterior dimensions patterned exactly after the Colosseum's in Rome.
+kiltarrah "The circular, US$16 million structure was designed by renowned Los Angeles architect Charles Luckman and was intended to evoke the Roman Forum." Which would make sense, considering its name...
Thank you for showing me this wonderful piece of history! Also everyone will be interested in knowing as of recently, an Italian businessman has donated enough money to completely reconstruct/restore 100% of the Roman Colosseum! Officials said the work is expected to take two and a half years!!
It should be rebuilt and used for an Olympic Games and then used as the European stadium. All European finals of all sports (Champions League etc) should be played there.
Very nice. It would have been interesting if the "sails" were shown - the fabric mounted on arms projecting inward from the poles around the top the top edge to provide shade for the spectators.
it is currently under reconstruction. There is scaffolding along parts of the outside. I just got back from Rome and it is pretty amazing as is. Can't wait to see it in its reconstructed glory. One man is financing the build.
No unfortunately it is not a full reconstruction, just the stage and floor so that performances can take place. It might look like something out of Disney Land if it is not restored properly.
The Might that was ROME....the Master of the World In it’s time.....that set it’s base and on it it’s Foundation.....that soon it will become a Republic......and the Ancient World was never the same.......the Glory that was ROME.
Me gusto mucho el vídeo. muy ilustrativo, dejando ver el esplendor del Coliseo Romano y el estado de actual de esas imponentes construcciones. Dale like si te gusto el vídeo.

Dear, in Roman times your civilization was in the dark and unknown to the rest of the world. Nothing compared to the great Rome. And remember that you are our discovery and that you probably come from old Europe. Assuming you're not a Native American.
The underground must have been terrifying. Lit by flame holders in the dark and with the noise of the 50 000 crowd up above. waiting your turn to have to fight for your life or fed to animals.
Wouldn't it be cool if the renovated and modernized the Roman Collosuem. Like a bunch of Billionaires and invest in it and straight modernized it to 2025 standards. State of the art technology.. etc.. hold soccer matches. UFC and Boxing events. Or what not.
@MatheusStradivari I apologize for my stupidity. I'm really sorry! But, man, "those times" and Glory has gone. We have to accept the facts.Things come and go. That's how history is made and written.

Doubtful it could ever be used for Olympic events, the arena floor is not large enough for Football or track. No it was not covered with tons of paints. No there are not any blueprints left - if there ever were any they vanished long ago.
ScorpioDude 98056 I think your doubtfulness is wrong because the Colosseum still remains bigger then any football stadiums today, The Colosseum was huge. It could seat 50,000 people. It covers around 6 acres of land and is 620 feet long, 512 feet wide, and 158 feet tall. It took more than 1.1 million tons of concrete, stone, and bricks to complete the Colosseum , yes I think it’s big enough.
Very nicely done! I hope to one day see the Colosseum in person. My parents went to Rome last year and said it was incredible.
There's is nothing so incredible, so magnificent as ancient Roman architecture in breadth and scope. And I don't believe there ever will be again.

Seeing the Colosseum actually restored to its former glory would be mind-boggling.

The UNESCO wouldn't allow that. The best option is building an Amphitheatre out of the city of Rome.
It should be rebuilt and used for an Olympic Games and then used as the European stadium. All European finals of all sports (Champions League etc) should be played there.

would actually be neat if it was completely reconstructed back to its original glory
It would be. The popes stole a lot of materials from it, let's rebuild the lost 2 levels... Money, money.:(
We couldndt do that, the colosseum is a very important ancient ruin and we can not modify it ( mafia, money, EU and popes have nothing ti do with it)
