One time, a while ago, my dad and I had an appointment. I was to get checked by the doctor and get blood work on the same day. Luckily the blood work didn't have a time limit, just within the week. We waited and I whispered to him that if the doctor didn't show up before the start of the next hour, we just give up and get my blood done. Sure enough, next hour came and no doctor. We got my blood work and left since it was early morning and I was hungry and slightly dizzy after having my blood drawn. The receptionist transmits the info to the doctor so they can research the issue before you arrive. Their years of medical expertise simply aids in determining the most likely cause. But they don't know everything off the top of their head.

From a medical field perspective, a patient's encounter is much more than just the appointment alone. The doctor must review the patient's record beforehand and follow up on lab/imaging results afterward, which takes a long time because every family doctor has so many patients. You can't get your diagnosis right after the appointment because most diagnoses require confirmation results from imaging and labs, i.e., a cough can be a variety of things from the common cold to pneumonia to heart failure. I get patients are frustrated but understand there is a lot going on in the background.

In many if not most cases, the insurance companies are the REAL clients NOT the actual patients. No human in their right mind would pay out of pocket for how doctors behave towards patients. Its wild... truly.

We need a follow up where all the doctor say its because you are fat. Not fixing anything, or actually trying to diagnose anything. They just assume its because your fat.

The chairs are big probably because doctors are more likely to have, ahem, BIG patients.
Anyways, I get the frustrations people have, but trust me, the doctors are very often busy and inundated with either finishing up with the patient before you, or administrative work. Don't get me wrong, some family doctors I've worked with genuinely annoyed me for not being caring for patients, but from the other side of things, working at a doctor's office isn't easy either.

i know its comedy and all but jokes aside i really do think doctors are like that, i have a gut problem that 16 difrent doctors still cant diagnose me and make me take meds and do a crap ton of tests and still not even close to knowing what is up like they don't care, every single one of them tell me its maybe from your diet but most likely its from stress. on my last gastro i visited i beged for the life of me to help me becouse im unable to work with my condition and life gets harder and harder an im running out of money for more tests, pills and visits.. im praying to god this doctor im going to now will find a way to help me..

Dude that's cheap, my doc wouldn't even discuss my results with me over the phone. I would have to make another appointment, and I pay full price until I reach my deductible - full price being about $600 for an office visit. I decided to research the results of the blood test myself...

@@A_Demon_Doggy At least you only got charged $35 for the Facetime! That's not too bad. It really depends on what doctor you get! I think that doctor who wanted me to come in again was just totally greedy because other patients of his were saying the same thing (that he only cared about money). I switched practices, and the doctor I saw this year _did_ call me and discuss my results. I'll be going back.
