      @@ShallBePurified He really should have just be focussing on making base pizza's instead of Emile and let Emile deal with the the extra ingredients. Tim is great when he knows what he needs to do but terrible when he needs to switch between tasks. He really needs to keep that in mind. • @driftnick7022
      @driftnick7022 4 ปีที่แล้ว +35

      Tim has just been absent minded in general as of late. I've heard it may be because of a condition, so it's understandable, but sometimes it makes it hard to watch when they're outright telling him to do stuff and he still doesn't pick up on it (like in the Luigi's Mansion LP).

    • @ShadowkingSonic
      @ShadowkingSonic 4 ปีที่แล้ว +51

      @@driftnick7022 It's always been a condition. I believe it's sleep apnea or something. Either way, anyone who says Tim's bad at games needs to look at the one time Jon did a race night where Tim not only won, but casually beat the entirety of Contra on NES before everyone else (maybe even ANYONE else, idr) finished, and he only died like once.

    • @GaKaGun

      @@ShadowkingSonic I also remember reading about a a castlevania race (don't remember the specific game) where Tim was able to beat the game TWICE before anyone finished the game even once.
      Like most people, Tim's good at some kinds of games and bad at others. I feel like he's usually gets distracted at games where you have to focus on multiple tasks at once, he seems to zone out in games like these.

    Below I have a somewhat of a role analysis/"skill profile" of each of the runaway guys and their guest Tom for this LP. This is purely just for fun and not meant to be taken super seriously. I outline each of the members strengths based on what I have observed across the LP thus far. Let me know your opinions and what other traits and skills you've noticed in the episodes that have been uploaded.
    Tom: Great at giving orders and commands and essentially being the executive/head chef (evident by one of his favorite catchphrases during this LP: "1 fish, 1 chip" lol). These kinds of direct orders may seem bossy and condescending at times however they're given with the best intention and they're necessary to unite the team and delegate tasks.
    Tim: Great at listening and doing repetitve tasks. Also takes direction well. (It may seem at times that Tim seems flustered but that's only because he's the most active listener trying to listen to 3 people simultaneously which of course would cause significant confusion). Tim is doing good for this not being his normal genre of game.
    Jon: He's proficient with the games mechanics and has great observational skills knowing what ingredients need to be chopped, cooked, etc., as well as other various tasks that require good awareness and game sense. This leads to some clutch moments.
    Emile: Jack of all trades/all-rounder. Isn't super skilled at anything in particular but isn't lacking in any area either(except by making the occasional mistake which all the runaway guys have done at some point. It's just the nature of the game). Every team needs an all rounder and Emile provides great additional support when needed.
    *I think that the runaway guys and Tom are progressively getting better and slowly cementing themselves in these niches I described over time. I think that if they have more awareness of each other and realize what each member excels at then they will have amazing synergy.

      This may be just for fun, but it's a seriously good breakdown of the Guys. Doubly so for Tim, he seems to keep half his brain on the game and half on his friends, which isn't a bad thing.

      I tend to pay attention to the guest the most during TRG playthroughs that aren't Fortune Street (Or don't have a guest), so I haven't been looking at the other guys, Tim especially, much. It's interesting to hear a proper analysis of what they're doing, and I have to agree with the assessment, it's certainly a game with hiccups abound, but everybody seems to be pulling their weight, which is usual, but still nice to see despite all the jokes or comments or whatever from either TRG themselves or the TH-cam comments that somebody is or isn't underperforming.

    "its based on memorization rather than skill" i'd argue that IS a skill, its not like the game is using RNG or luck to determine things, its based on your ability to see things for only a split second and remember where they are. As a student of game design the biggest issue i see with the level is the lack of range on the player light and maybe adding a few more occurrences of lightning flashes.

    • @DinnerForkTongue
      @DinnerForkTongue 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gotta agree. Those headlamps are complete garbage. Doubling the range and luminosity would make them so much more practical right off the bat.

    • @tagon2381
      @tagon2381 4 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Yeah - memorization is still a skill.
      I’d also move the mushrooms as well - that’s kinda a shitty place for them (the UI designer and the level designers clearly didn’t coordinate well enough on that). I feel like for the first dark level you should have everything of one type in one place (like usual), but if they do more dark levels then progress to moving things around like that. It’s really brutal to have both of those mechanics like that on a first go of that level type, especially when the player isn’t sure how it works.
      The lights suck as well - it’s not a great level.

    6:00 Where’s the killer wind, Emile? It’s not The Happening without the killer wind.
    9:30 I mean who knows for sure what’s in those sausages?
    10:15 This looks like an awful Mario Party minigame. Never taking the visibility cones produced by flashlights and other light sources in most other video games for granted ever again.
    14:22 Saying this like memorization isn’t as much of a skill as, say, reaction time, though that doesn’t make this any more of a fun level.

      Technically the pizza oven is different from the others, since in those you can pickup the pan/pot/basket and put it in a plate and viceversa.
      With the pizza oven, you can't pickup any container, just the pizza itself.
      Still doesn't make sense, though.

    • @Dragonpit
      @Dragonpit 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The dark level, in itself, wouldn't be so bad if the layout was a bit more...organized. You know, to make memorization easier. Instead, everything is scattered about. The ingredients are each in different corners of the map. The pots are to the West and the North East sides. The cutting boards are to the West and South. The map is in a U-shape because a bit of counter poking out, and THAT'S where the trash is, between the Mushrooms and the North pot, making it very easy to forget that trash bin is even there in the dark. One of the ingredients is literally hiding behind the timer. Everything is literally everywhere and it is awful.

    • @Rexaura888
      @Rexaura888 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Dragonpit As contrarian it sounds to say that this level of Overcooked should be less chaotic, you’re right. For how disorganized and chaotic things could get in previous levels, most everything was grouped together or had some sort of uniformity in their setup in the case of the second ship level (Not all of the pots were together, but there were two on each side). They taught you to expect that of future levels to come, and it’s rather rude to take this expectations, throw them in the shredder and then spit them back at the player’s face.

    The johns on the last level, oh my lord. Memorization is as much a skill as everything else. The game has been testing your memorization all along, this twist on the challenge is taking away your moment of building a memory, and making you have to do that during the actual time of the level. Whether it was done effectively is a whole nother point

    I think it's funny that in most cases in this LP Emile and Tim on the same side causes issues, but on 4-1 both do really well when they're both on the bottom portion.

  • @danfraser3302
    @danfraser3302 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    I actually do feel bad for Tim here. His reactions just seem so slow and can't keep up with all the chaos. I did learn through the commetns that he does have sleep apnea. Then again, Tim usually doesn't work well with games that require an analog stick. He's usually better with an NES/SNES-style controller. Seriously just put him in front of something like a classic Mega Man game with said setup, and he's a master.
    I understand this was recorded months in advance, but the reason why you guys aren't getting anywhere above one star in these later stages is because you aren't doing orders left to right. Because you guys are taking care of the more recent, simple orders while disregarding more complex orders that have been on the lineup for longer periods of time, you aren't getting the points you need.
    Also that stage being in the dark is not about skill, it's about layout memorization. You're intended to use the flashlights as well as the lightning flashes to get your bearings and interpret where the ingredients and stations are. Though I do admit this stage could've been done better.
