In the Croatian city of Pula is the Roman amphitheater. It was built from 27 v.Chr. tot 68 n.Chr. and is one of the six largest Roman amphitheaters still in existence. Croatia, beautiful country, friendly people. Thank you again for sharing your adventures.

Their last name, "Mance" doesn't sound very Croatian, and we have always had to explain that yes, that was their name spelling in Croatia too. Anyway, we googled Brod Na Kupi and found that there is actually a hotel there called "Hotel Mance." Relatives perhaps? It might be a bucket list thing to check out. After entering Croatia, Naick and Kim 's appetites have improved. Eat a lot of food and drink a lot of wine. Coupled with the warm weather, traveling to the south is really the right choice.

The cooked štrukli was definitely the most traditional northern Croatian food you tried. My grandma makes them every week. They're very neutral and not special, but if you missed them you'd miss the centerpiece of the traditional cuisine of the area.
We are going to Croatia next week. Zagreb. We have a son who lives there. Even though we’ve been a couple of times, we are staying for a few months and will visit other countries. Can’t wait to try their food again.

Wow! You guys hit all the local spots. Good job on the research (especially on the 505 candy)! :D Also the best Štrukli are made by Croatian grandmas from Zagorje and Zagreb. The restaurant version isn't nearly as good. If you are still near Zagreb I recommend the restaurant "Krčma Kod Marka" (amazing Croatian style bbq).

Greeting! First, for your gastronomic research at Gabrek 1929 in Samobor. I'm glad you liked it, even though some of what you ate was not very traditional! For traditional food, you have to always look for smaller and less reputable inns and restaurants anywhere in the world! As for the kulin you bought - it is not the original, pfavi kulin/kulen! Kulin is traditionally made in Slavonia and Srijem. You can only get one culin from one pig because the mixture is stuffed into the pig's appendix. Kulin mofra should be made of the finest meat and a thin layer of fat next to it. No bacon cubes or pieces of bacon can be seen in the kulin. The finest hand-ground sweet red pepper and hot red pepper must be used. Kulin MUST be sharp (hot)!
Now that you tried and absolutely loved Bakalar (the cod&potato dish). The Portuguese do a similar dish and its name is also similar. Bakalao. Maybe when there you can compare which one you liked better?
Mlinar is like fast food chain. they get everything frozen by delivery every morning and just warm it up for people. its worst place to check out bakery in Croatia. you need to find some Albanian owned small bakery.

Hello You have to wear mask inside stores, inside shopping malls, practically everywhere, except bars and restaurants ... but even some restaurants may ask you to put the mask on while you walking from entry to your table 🙈 For covid passport ... well if you cross the border and you want to enter Croatia, you need to have your covid passport ... for now you dont have to show your covid passport when you enter malls, cinemas, restaurants, public transport etc ... but that may change in the near future 😉
Good joke about Coca-Cola but funny thing is that that Coca-Cola is probably produced actually in Croatia. There is Coca-Cola factory in Solin next to Split 🤭🤣
It was really good. Not sure what the name was, but it was their specialty and they recommended it. The one with two types of ham. If you ask them, they will know haha.
