We just moved to the country and inherited a mature apple tree, I just made fruit leathers, they're dehydrating now! Eeekkks...I can't wait to try them! 12 hours the countdown is on!

I was stunned when I saw this demonstration, I grew up in South Asia and outside my school we had vendors selling various treats one on them was a savoury and spicy version of what you made, it bought back memories of my school days.

The original Name is Lavashak not leather. Do not use any honey or jam to make it, just fruit

Do you ... have to strain the fruit .. can't you just use all the pulp.. I LOVE the seeds ? ... o .. and can you use ... frozen berries?
You don't have to strain it. I've also made a version where I didn't cook it first; I simply blended everything cold in my smoothie maker, skin and pips included, then put it straight onto the baking sheet.
try with mango and if u got enough heat just like thailand we used sundrie .... yummmm

I'm quite confused. The leather shown at the beginning was lighter red and seemed soft, while the one at the end looked almost black and it sounded crunchy when bitten into. How do we make this to come out like the one in the intro?
The first one she made was most likely a different fruit; possibly just apples or just peaches etc. The second one she made had apples and blackberries and that's why the colour was different. The exact texture will depend on the fruits used, whether or not you keep any small seeds in it (the tiny seeds from the blackberries may have got through the sieve) and how long it's cooked for. Ultimately, though, it will be leathery; some may just be a little tougher than others. I like to make an apple and ginger leather but I add some homemade date paste instead of honey. It's really lovely. :)
IT’S CALLED LAVASHAK
Using a silicon mat you'd of lost no nutrition soaking into the paper. A much easy improvement also lifting away easier when finished dehydration. Hope that helps.

It's not leather it's lavashak Iranian fruit roll yours is too dry you shouldn't bake in the oven you have to leave it 48 hour outdoor to dry

+Mechail Budgie Sounds like it's a common way of making treats with fruits and berries. Not exclusively made by any one culture.
People in Iran used to do this for centuries - esp with pomegranates, barberrys and cornell cherries. We *NEVER* add any sugar because we love it sour and it's supposed to be healthy...since you can keep it stored for ages, it was a great way to have fruits and vitamins at the ready even during winter when you have no fresh berries. My grandmother told me they used to eat it as a kid to fight off colds and get vitamins. But I'm glad more people are eating now around the world - it's so much better than Haribo or processed trash!
