Those prices are usually in California and New York. The price for EVERYTHING (rent, gas, food, etc.) are insane in those states. That’s why so many are moving out of California. I live in Texas and would never live in California.
I used to live near The Grove and the rents are all over the place. There are a ton of old apartment buildings from the 20s that are much more affordable (by LA standards... $1500 a month for a 1 bedroom and that was a few years ago) BUT none of those buildings have parking so there is a nightmarish free for all when it comes to street parking which truly is the only reason the rent is lower. So even though it is a pretty nice area there is more of a range in rent prices bc there are so many of those old buildings. That might not be accurate anymore bc they finally finished the Metro extension so that might have driven the prices up...but I digress. There is a super nice (but ugly 90s postmodern) complex right across the street from The Grove called Park La Brea and she was probably living somewhere like that. Those units are super nice and....too expensive for me to gauge without looking it up lol...
I'm not even a Trish fan... However, as someone with BPD, I can totally understand everything Trish says in this video and why she feels the way she does, why those feelings or stories might change. The woman has issues with her IDENTITY and experiences of TRAUMA. They tie into one another. I have experience abuse from Men only, had experiences with women and consider myself bi. There are moments in our life where we may feel extremely strong about something, but it changes when we learn. This video was YEARS ago when Trish was known to be very problematic, and we may not of known why then. BUT WE DO NOW. for the conversation about housing, I want to say that California is an extreme outlier in how high prices can get. Same with places like New york city, Atlanta, etc. But if you don't live in those areas, rent can easily be $1000 and its even been $600-800 in some of the areas i've lived in

I was paying 1450 for rent near the the Metro Detroit area for a 3 bedroom house (specifically in Ferndale). We (my bf and I) bought a house and now paying higher than my rent (the interest rates are WILD) but it’s our house and we can do whatever the hell we want to it. ACAB, but to landlords.

Those prices are usually in California and New York. The price for EVERYTHING (rent, gas, food, etc.) are insane in those states. That’s why so many are moving out of California. I live in Texas and would never live in California.

I used to live near The Grove and the rents are all over the place. There are a ton of old apartment buildings from the 20s that are much more affordable (by LA standards... $1500 a month for a 1 bedroom and that was a few years ago) BUT none of those buildings have parking so there is a nightmarish free for all when it comes to street parking which truly is the only reason the rent is lower. So even though it is a pretty nice area there is more of a range in rent prices bc there are so many of those old buildings. That might not be accurate anymore bc they finally finished the Metro extension so that might have driven the prices up...but I digress. There is a super nice (but ugly 90s postmodern) complex right across the street from The Grove called Park La Brea and she was probably living somewhere like that. Those units are super nice and....too expensive for me to gauge without looking it up lol...

I'm not even a Trish fan... However, as someone with BPD, I can totally understand everything Trish says in this video and why she feels the way she does, why those feelings or stories might change. The woman has issues with her IDENTITY and experiences of TRAUMA. They tie into one another.

There are moments in our life where we may feel extremely strong about something, but it changes when we learn.
This video was YEARS ago when Trish was known to be very problematic, and we may not of known why then.

I feel like there is a lot of judgement in this video from the discussions that I see, but i think it's so important that we remember Trish is HEALING.
She is healing from her trauma, she is learning, she is growing as a person and finding her own identity.
Let's all please hold less judgement to Trish and more accountability, understanding, and more growth!
The abuse I went through has DEFINITELY made me feel like I need to be a lesbian or be a man and I used to feel deep shame over it before I grew myself.
I just hope she doesn't see it the same as I do, as I know it would affect me. I would always want people to focus on my growth, especially when addressing my past.

I live in Mid Michigan, a town with a population of about 30k.
It is unreal how bad the housing crisis is riggt now in all of America. I consider myself lucky for now to be stuck renting my 3 bed 1.5 bath HOUSE for $600/mo. I can have my pets for no extra cost. Utilities are a lot summer mobths with central air etc, but it is what it is. My landlord threatened to raise rent one time and i straight up said then imma have to move bc i cant afford it. That was 2 years ago. You can't find a studio apt or a room in my town for $600/mo, let alone be able to have pets. Every day omw to work i see more abd more homeless people MY AGE (30) with their animals on the streets bc tge shelters are all full. Nobody can afford to live here. The off chance you can pull off paying rent, then you definitely won't be able to afford food. All the properties have been bought up by people to rent them out. Zero opportunities to buy homes around here. 😢 its all tragic to see. I am hoping the narket collapses soon. It HAS to. 😢
