Thank you so much for reviewing this Anthony. This guy is just crazy good, beating pretty much every other figure this year. You should review the demon flame x vtoys Abyss, aka 3rd party Death from Darksiders 2 as well, another banger figure.
3rd party companies are usually highly detailed import figures with lots of details, sculpt, paint and articulation. Majority of them are clothe based. 3rd parties usually make figures that everyone knows a company won't make, so it's great to have options, licensed or unlicensed.
For the QOTD, I'm a bit supportive of 3rd party (IP holders/major manufacturers are getting really anti consumer as of late). The figure is amazing (since all things are made available to the consumer). In my opinion, the Xesray minotaurs are a bit better due to how smooth the joints are, but the sculpts are definitely top tier.
Blizzard could have made a fortune on an action figure line even now, though much more so back in their glory days. Since they chose not to, 3rd party will do, and boy it does. Absolute banger of a figure, so glad I've got it. Hope they make more characters from Warcraft
I wouldn't buy a 3rd party instead of an official figure (unless the official is terrible) but in certain scenarios i would get a 3rd party. Like if a figure isn't produced anymore and the resale price is super high i'll buy a good quality bootleg or if its an obscure/ unofficial character that will potentially never get made. I don't really care about the morality of them because i don't think the 3rd party market is large enough to impact the big companies but if it is then thats for the multi million $ companies to fix. I'm more concerned about how trustworthy the companies are and what materials they use tbh. I was super interested in this figure when it got revealed cause the character design is so cool. Glad to see the figure came out pretty awesome.
It took this long to actually get a well articulated "WOW" figure. I am happy with this and the Not Thrall figure. The Thrall figure is made of the same plastic material that Storm Collectibles uses, as the company's employees were from Storm Collectibles, or so I've heard.
Blizzard is leaving a mountain of cash on the table not doing their own good quality figures. I'm not talking the Mcfarlane nonsense, I mean good stuff in the $30-$80 range. They have a TON of characters they could do.
I don't want them to do these figures, because their old figures were so trash, like 1/10 level. Not the Heroes of the Storm Neca ones, the ones officially made by Blizzard. Only these indy companies are doing them right.
@@sigerlion8608 Thats actually where I was going. they could license their IP out to companies like NECA or whoever (just not McFarlane), any reputable company to do quality figures.
Is the margin on making upscale figures that good? Seems like action figures are still fairly niche, dunno if there is enough interest to justify fully producing their own line. Selling the license to an established company is basically free money but I dunno if starting their own line is guaranteed profit.
Incredible figure and great review. I like 3rd party figures especially when they are great quality like this and create figures of characters no one else does officially. 99% of bootlegs are a no go for me though
If I'm honest, I rarely care about licensing, most of these businesses just don't care to make figures. Also, Activision Blizzard has done so much crappy stuff to milk as much money out of people as they can, and I have a WoW tattoo lol. If they don't want to make collectibles for this market then it's their loss. I have this figure, and it's killer. Awesome review again, happy to see such a wide variety of figures on this channel recently!
I'm totally fine buying unofficial figures, but it's usually the case when there's no official release of that character, or the official is crazy rare or expensive
I just got this figure and it's great. I am a long time WoW player and it's a fantastic IP for action figures but it's never really been taken advantage of so I have zero problem with 3rd party companies bringing out quality figures (that have a similarity) to WoW characters and I hope for a lot more, a classic Paladin/Priest/Warlock would be must buys for me. As to yourself doing more of these kinds of third party figure reviews I'm all for it.
Most bootleg companies who steal both license and design from other companies normally have less quality products. The third party companies who don't pay for licensing but originally design, sculpt, paint and engineer their figures by themselves normally offer way better quality and prices then regular licensed companies. I'm a big AF collector and I never buy bootlegs but often by 3rd party company figures, mostly TF action figures but from time to time some regular AF as well. I never had a Hero Toys AF in hand but I just bought my first and not Illidan wasn't it. Thanks for the review Anthony.
I like 3rd party when it comes to them giving you something the mainline can't or won't, be it accessories or certain characters. Also scale purposes. I but Dr wu transformers for my hasbro titans
QotD: For me, a good figure is a good figure. I don't really care if it is a third party or not. I vote with my wallet; if the primary IP holder isn't going to make a good figure, I won't buy it. If the figure is great and worth the price for me, its a no brainer
the articulation and sculpting in the joints is stellar...It's wild to see all the rotating and crunching actually work on a figure as apposed to lets say a mcfarlane toy lol.
I'm with you, Anthony. If third party figures are making something that isn't directly competing with a license holder, I usually don't care. But the idea of people just making anything they want with no respect for IP doesn't sit right with me. A lot of people just want the best product regardless of who makes it or how, but for me, I want the creators and companies that own IPs to have a say in how _their IP_ is used. And if send a cease and desist because they don't _want_ copyright infringement or action figures for whatever reason, that's well within their rights too.
One of the most gorgeous figures ever + no complaints from anthony = instant order. Do you know when the black version will come out and where to preorder?
There's a lot of love in this one. The flower is a memento from the woman he loved who chose his brother over him. That's definitely some detail, lol. Edit: although i just realized he didn't come with the Skull of Gul'dan which feels like a weird thing to be missing.
I'm still surprised that the last official Blizzard figures were from NECA. Seems like forever ago. McF's recent statues are neat but they're miles away from a posable figure. This guy is awesome and the Skull of Gul'dan being an accessory AND a light-up trigger is brilliant. When these guys do a tauren I will buy, buy, buy.
Third parties to me are a necessary evil (greedily speaking). As a resident evil fan, it’s kind of obvious by now Capcom doesn’t have any interest whatsoever in dipping their toes into the action figure market even though I’m sure their figures would make a killing. But they’re not for it and haven’t been since their half-statues for Resident Evil 4’s original release. So when a third party like Patriot studios comes around and makes figures based on resident evil which are ~80-90% faithful to the source material and are decent enough quality, they’re gonna get bought by thirsty fans like me. It’s just gonna happen 🤷🏻♂️
QOTD: i don't care. especially when the rights holder aren't making the figures i want (looking at you bandai, still milking your outdated goku mold). plus 3rd party products demonopolise the market
Warcraft 3 was me and my buddies game back in middle school(never got into WoW). so thats what I'll always remember him for. Looks great, if this company did an Arthas of this quality I think that'd get me to dive in. I'm extremely hesitant on 3rd party figures for the most part. I tried one of those Dragonball companies(a named one that charges almost as much as legit figures, not the super shitty $20 ones) and the things limbs were hanging off right out of the package. that was enough for me.
Honestly, third party companies use to put so much love and thought in their creations that i can't be against them, as the big companies don't give us great experiences all the time.
OMG Anthony reviewed a questionable IP figure! Is this the beginning of a new era!? I love this figure myself, I don't care about IP at all. Since you reviewed this figure, I heavily recommend the xCOSERTOYS 1/12 Darksiders Abyss Knight. It's an awesome Darksider figure. And no, I don't think we've been saying Hero Toys are like Storm Collectibles. I said that "Mithril Action Orcs are like Storm Collecibles", because some employees that worked for Storm left and created the Mithril Action company and started making World of Warcraft figures. Try getting their Berserker Orc, it's awsome.
Oh and also heavily recommend the LingJiHun Pacific Rim Crimson Typhoon. Should be about $90 from the AIiex-press site. Wayyyy better than the neca and other companies that tried to make them.
Oh and also heavily recommend the LingJiHun Pacific Rim Crimson Typhoon. Should be about $90 from the chinese export sites. Wayyyy better than the neca and other companies that tried to make them.
If any 3rd party company is going to make a product I want for a reasonable price I’m gonna get it I feel that as a consumer, it is not my responsibility or even concern if something is officially licensed or not.
@16:54 As a TF fan I suspect a fews reasons; some of these '3rd party' companies are so small, that might cost the main holder of the IP MORE money going after them then to ignore them - as long as you can't just walk into a Walmart or Target and pick those items up. And some 3rd party companies might be out of China, so there's that.
Don’t know the character, but interesting figure; the different colors really pop. Love the wings, but it does that a lot of real estate in and shelf/case. It is kind of expensive for an unlicensed product though. A 12” ThreeZero figure is just a bit more expensive. But I guess the light up feature would increase production costs? If we were to breakdown the cost, what is the light up feature going to add to a figure? $10? $20?
I've been telling you. China's going to pass US/Japan in terms of collectible quality soon. Hero/Mithril and other studios make some absolutely phenomenal figures, combining NECA's paint and sculpt, Hasbro's articulation (Hasbro's scheme, not quality lol) and tons of interchangeability and accessories of your JP import lines. Just got the D20studios boar mount and can't wait for it to arrive. I think the future for collecting in the 1/12~1/10 scale for a lot of people will be mixing and matching various Chinese lines while picking the best of the US domestic figures like Jada/Spin Masters/some Hasbro, etc.
Honestly so many third party figures are starting to do better than the actual company. I’ve gotten a few third party figures that are better than my Hot Toys figures. It’s honestly surprising. Awhile back I got a third party Frieza and it was almost impossible to tell the difference from the SH Figuarts one
Illidan always has wings/horns/hoofs in WoW. He was a demon hunter/regular night elf dude in Warcraft 3 and later popped his ultimate and turned into a demon which gave him the demonic looks. In lore it was irreversible and so now he's always a demon, all the way through WoW.
Great Review. Companies spend more money fighting overseas with 3rd party companies or countries that might as well let it go. Most of those countries don't care about U.S Laws nor obey by them anyways. We all learn as we go that sometimes is better the I.P company. But when they don't make the figure, you want, and they continue with the same issues for years for more money is hard to stay loyal to that.
Absolutely stunning figure!! For your question Anthony, I don't care much about the 3rd party stuff. If a company provides me with good quality or value, I'm gonna get it. I'm a Transformers collector and like you said, there have been numerous 3P and even 4th party figures for decades there. Take the Beast Wars Masterpieces for instance. I wanted a Transmetal Tarantulas MP and Takara is not willing to make one, or it will take another 10 years, so I got the Transart one. Couldn't be happier.
@@AnthonysCustoms YES! It's beautiful. He even comes with his tiny spider drones that carry his parts when he was blown away by Ravage. The next on my list is their Transmetal Rattrap.
@@AnthonysCustoms No, I don't. It's a bit simple but that's the design's fault. It looks cool, tho. Specially the magnetic "holsters" he has on his thighs. Right now I'm focusing on getting the season 1 cast first. And that's another point. I don't have the money to go after the original MPs by Takara on the second market, so I'm getting the BW MP Knock offs too. They are pretty much the same quality, in some cases identical, and I can get them at a price I can afford.
I hate current Blizzard, but I love Illidan, so getting this figure was a win in every regard. Also, when the possibilities of the actual company making the figure are low or the existing figures are terrible, I have no problems with third party.
dang, this is really cool figure to the point I might have to pick it up. When it comes to third party I fall under if the IP holder decides to do nothing with it that I'm okay with stuff like this. However, if they decide to do their own quality line than less so.
Got mine for 110 at show z a while back. Hero also made a chonky Diablo figure like this and it is pretty awesome i have it posed fighting some modified Xesray figures. Hero also has an orc in high warlord warrior gear that is fantastic that i display on my desk. Ilidan is in storage till i can find a place to put him since the wings take up some space. Im hoping they make a Lich King figure or the one from another company is just as good so i can put them together in a display.
Yes another company is making the Lich King: TITAN Toys TT001 1/12 Frost Knight Action Figure Lich King Arthas. And GDTOYS X BROTOYS 1/12 Storm King is the Varian Wynn figure.
3d party figures only work for me if it is 1/12 scale blank bodies for customs. I do collect some of the 3rd party dbz stuff mainly cuz SOME of the figures they make tamashii nations might not make. However some 3rd party companies have made “re releases” of figures that have been originally released by tamashii and most of those copies are not great
I’m all for third party as long as they’re doing something that official offerings aren’t doing or if it’s better than the official stuff. There’s a lot of third party Transformers that are engineered better than what comes out of Hasbro and Takara. Take Newage and Magic Square for example, they’re doing Legends scale with Masterpiece levels of details. There’s Dasin’s and Ramen’s 1/12 scale Not-BraveStarrs, no one is doing Bravestarr figures. Looking forward to Dasin’s Not-Captain Planet. The way I look at is, you have to seek out the third party stuff, so Hasbro, Bandai, Takara, Mattel, aren’t losing any money because the normies still buy their products.
I’m not the kind of person who typically collects figures of characters I have no attachment to, but you seem the type who’s happy to! So I have a question: if you had to ballpark estimate, how much of your collection are figures you’re happy to own because they’re just nice figures, even if you don’t care about the character or franchise?
I really hope more third parties make WoW figures. In the 20 years they've been around, there have been clothing, collaborations, a movie, books, and statues, but no sustainable toy line. There were a few mediocre-looking Neca figures, but those were just for HOTS. With such a rich history and tons of characters to choose from, it's overdue for a good figure line.
Holy crap a 9.8. Impressive. The one thing about 3rd party that’s rough is they change their names a lot. I assume due to legal issues. If this company changes names it’s suddenly another unknown 3rd party.
I'm not sure if it's been said or not, but the tattoos are glow in the dark.

Didnt know u dont like the 3rd party stuff . They are my favorite toys except for the price since my taste in collecting is mostly fantasy ,monsters and villians . By the way i buy from 5k toys and they are a solid and reliable company never had a problem with them .
The main reason why third party isn't an issue was explained by someone on the TFW forums iirc Basically third party holds NO CANDLE to the official ip holders in terms of profit. Hasbro and Bandai make way more money than ANY of these third party companies ever do. The market share of first party is just too big.
@@AnthonysCustoms i just figured with the explanation that the big companies straight up just don't really care much because they can afford to not care.
Chinese Ko companies have been making the best toys. Cheaply too. Putting domestic and JP companies to damn shame and shows how much they are RIPPING us off. Also 5ktoys is great never had issues with them.
Is there some place to still buy this figure new where there's no risk of getting a bootleg? Looks like it came out earlier this year, and 5ktoys no longer has it. It seems quite odd that Hero Toys sent Anthony a review sample for a product that came out months ago and is now difficult to find. One reason might be they're planning a second production run, and if that's the case then great. There are a bunch on eBay and Aliexpress, but in both places there are two price points--around $60 and around $130 or more. I'm guessing the cheaper ones are bootlegs of the Hero Toys version, and the others are (hopefully) legit but much more expensive now.
@@AnthonysCustoms I saw that one on the 5ktoys site the day you posted the review, but I didn't see it there today. Are you seeing it on Amazon US now? All I see is the original coloring, and it's $139. 5ktoys was selling pre-orders for the black version for $79.99. I'll probably hold out for the version you reviewed because those are the colors of Illidan in World of Warcraft. Not sure where they got the black colors from; maybe Hero Toys just wanted to try the color because they like it more. I have the pre-demonic form of Illidan that NECA made, and this guy appears to complement that one PERFECTLY. Thanks for reviewing it; I didn't even notice it existed until your review. I likely would have instantly bought it just from promo shots so it's good to hear from you how well-executed it is.
Illidan has wings/horns/hooves permanently _after_ eating the magic from the bonk skull. Prior to that, he was just a Night Elf Demon Hunter with normal feet. *QotD:* China just does not give a shit about this. They will make what they will make until they provoke something like Disney/Hasbro to ream them up their rear (like when Wei Jiang tried to KO a Hot Toys Iron Man during Endgame's theatrical run, or Zeta Toys was making their own Unicron during the HasLab Unicron's funding period). It's too much effort to kill off these 3rd Party/KO companies and they're basically Hydra since China doesn't police this stuff at all (or very poorly if they do police). 3D printed accessories are also its own can of worms since Chinese groups will buy the .STL directly and then start mass producing/painting their own copies to sell. I'm much the same generally; add-ons without question, okay with new figures if they don't already exist/are filling a void in the market, okay with same "character" if they're brand new/different sculpts from an existing counterpart. Less enthused when the KO people just take someone else's thing wholesale and "fix" it (whether making it bigger/more paint/changing tooling/etc). I hope Hero Toys reissues their Diablo/Big Devil. Current eBay listings keep asking for ~$300 CAD with shipping and I'm _not_ paying that much, OOP be damned.
I didn't say this figure was available at bbts. You'll have to Google to find this figure. He's on Amazon though. I don't know how trustworthy the other options are
oh. when i put "check this guy out," i meant the guy in the link who is also a wow based character from the same company. i can change it to make it more clear
There are lots of sites. Most are on Amazon though so there's a little reassurance of legitimate sellers even though they don't actually ship through Amazon
I collect 3rd party legends scale Transformers. Most people who collect 3rd part Transformers is becuase Hasbro/Takara don't make many of the figures the 3rd part make and/or are slow to refresh the ones they did in the past. If you wanted to start collect Takara MP, many you can't even get, or you will have to pay marked up prices. 3rd party Marvel or DC figures, I stay away from, because they are usually not that good.
These chinese companies are thrashing the american and japanese companies. They are pretty cheap, good size, incredible details, great paint work and they use alot of soft plastic so things dont just snap or break. I do hope they continue to venture into warcraft..and hopefully less of those dishonorable orcs.

About IPs, I get your point and ripping off IPs is not great BUT some major companies are pushing the price up while bootlegs quality is going up (spiderman 2099, anti-venom…). Blizzard is leaving a mountain of cash on the table not doing their own good quality figures. I'm not talking the Mcfarlane nonsense, I mean good stuff in the $30-$80 range. They have a TON of characters they could do.
No kidding. It's nuts. But they have horrible management so it's not surprising.
3rd party is alright with me. A quality figure is a quality figure.
I have this figure I absolutely love him and illidan is such a bad ass character for me figure of year 🎉
I have this figure and it is outstanding.
mine will arrive next week from buyee... cant wait!
I would definitely not keep that flower lol
He comes with the Skull of Gul'dan, it's also used as a switch for his eyes and the flame of Azzinoth elemental
@@magicmirror8627 oh cool, thank you, I must have missed that!
We got the same figure! And it’s really AMAZING 🎉🎉🎉
Cant wait for rival collectibles!
Definitely one of my favourite figures in my collection
I've had this for a while, and it's dope that you got this for review! I also have their "Big Devil" (Diablo) release, and its pretty sweet as well.
I can confirm the green details glow under uv light and is also glow in the dark :)
I’d buy and I’ve never played wow
Seems like a contender for toy of the year.
QOTD: i don't care. especially when the rights holder aren't making the figures i want (looking at you bandai, still milking your outdated goku mold). plus 3rd party products demonopolise the market
Oh wow… those colors look fantastic. Haven’t watched the review yet but man just the aesthetic alone is gorgeous.
Yoo that’s a killer figure , and pretty tall also , and so much detail
You gotta review Darksiders Death (cosertoys abyss knight) if you can! It’s sooo good, kind of like this one
This beast its just wonderful. Amazing figure of Illidan Stormrage 😍 have to buy him.
Mithril Action is the 3rd party company that feels close to Storm. They've a few Orcs made. Their Orcish Blademaster was a delightful figure.
Your thinking of Mythril Action. They are closest to Storm. (Same plastic and factory).
I think Mithril Studio is nmore like Storm, the rumor is that the sculptor for that brand was an Ex-Storm employee. They also do WOW
That turned out sick, those wings are really rad - probably horrible for shelf space though 😂
They did tarantulas? Dang. I have tm primal and tm2 dinobot on pre-order
@@AnthonysCustoms YES! It's beautiful. He even comes with his tiny spider drones that carry his parts when he was blown away by Ravage.
The next on my list is their Transmetal Rattrap.
i have to look into that. do you have their ravage?
@@AnthonysCustoms No, I don't. It's a bit simple but that's the design's fault. It looks cool, tho. Specially the magnetic "holsters" he has on his thighs.
Right now I'm focusing on getting the season 1 cast first. And that's another point.
I don't have the money to go after the original MPs by Takara on the second market, so I'm getting the BW MP Knock offs too.
They are pretty much the same quality, in some cases identical, and I can get them at a price I can afford.
I don't care. If it's an issue of IP infringement, then the company that owns the IP can sort that out.
I hate current Blizzard, but I love Illidan, so getting this figure was a win in every regard. Also, when the possibilities of the actual company making the figure are low or the existing figures are terrible, I have no problems with third party.
Awesome looking figure
dang, this is really cool figure to the point I might have to pick it up.
However some 3rd party companies have made “re releases” of figures that have been originally released by tamashii and most of those copies are not great
demoniacal fit has been making better figures for the price than sh figuarts
Yo, a figure that can actually lean forward! I haven't seen that in years lol
Almost zero
A lot of third-party figures look great but tend to suffer from hindered range of motion. They also tend to be more fragile.
They have to do the black version
God I hope they do a Lich King next!
The main reason why third party isn't an issue was explained by someone on the TFW forums iirc
Basically third party holds NO CANDLE to the official ip holders in terms of profit.
Hasbro and Bandai make way more money than ANY of these third party companies ever do.
The market share of first party is just too big.
That's always the case though. It's not usually the case that the license holder doesn't still make it stop when it's actually infringement.
@@AnthonysCustoms i just figured with the explanation that the big companies straight up just don't really care much because they can afford to not care.
HE’S FCKN GORGEOUS
I'm guessing the cheaper ones are bootlegs of the Hero Toys version, and the others are (hopefully) legit but much more expensive now.
theyre making a black one so reviews for this are still relevant for everything but paint. check amazon
I likely would have instantly bought it just from promo shots so it's good to hear from you how well-executed it is.
i saw the same thing on amazon. just that buying on there should give you at least some extra confidence in the purchase.
I cant even remember the last 9.8. Tokka and rahzar maybe?
ooh I want one
What do you think of these figures Batman The Dark Knight Returns Dynamic 8ction Heroes Action Figures 1/9 Batman & Robin 16 - 21 cm
Thank you for showing us your package
Yep, I felt so lucky buying Big Devil $90.
I don't think that is the right link of BBTS.... where can I get this figure?
I didn't say this figure was available at bbts. You'll have to Google to find this figure. He's on Amazon though. I don't know how trustworthy the other options are
@@AnthonysCustoms It's on the description, but thxs for the hint!
oh. when i put "check this guy out," i meant the guy in the link who is also a wow based character from the same company. i can change it to make it more clear

There are lots of sites. Most are on Amazon though so there's a little reassurance of legitimate sellers even though they don't actually ship through Amazon
@@AnthonysCustoms
Thanks!
Can your review the demonical fit father son it's really good
These chinese companies are thrashing the american and japanese companies.
They are pretty cheap, good size, incredible details, great paint work and they use alot of soft plastic so things dont just snap or break.
I do hope they continue to venture into warcraft..and hopefully less of those dishonorable orcs.

I have this guy, I am not even a WoW fan, he is on my glow in the dark shelf…. And meanwhile a 100€ for marvel legends dragon man is considered a good deal by some…. 😂 wake up hasbro fanboys.
For the same price, much better paint, more accessories and even lights!
About IPs, I get your point and ripping off IPs is not great BUT some major companies are pushing the price up while bootlegs quality is going up (spiderman 2099, anti-venom…). In those inflation times, they are a necessary evil.
Some IPs just did not get love from major producers for xyz reasons and I am so happy those small companies take charge and make an amazing product (the mask, resident evil…).
Review all the toys make
But even then Neca hasn't given us anything new since it's first release of this character back when nova and the lich King came out
Those were technically hots figures. Different license
@@AnthonysCustoms oh for some reason thought it was Neca. They had a Diablo figure Jim reynor and thrall in that series and that's it. Never did any others. Which sucks because kerrigan and Artanis would have been dope along with tyreal from diablo
they were neca but the license was Heroes of the Storm. Not WoW. That's probably why it was a limited line.
@@AnthonysCustoms well even then no manufacturer has ever given actual figures from wow besides that line. It's been mostly statues, pops or mini figs. Nothing articulated, this is the only reason why I support bootlegs and customs because companies just hold the license as ransom and don't do anything with them
Do you speak french
No. While my wife is fluent, I only took French for a couple years. I'm way better with Spanish and Japanese. Why do you ask?

It's not about the companies making the figures as much as it's able the people who own the ip
@@AnthonysCustoms Well we have seen what most branded (ip certified) figures we get, and it’s not usually this type of quality and-or articulation.
