👋 Hey there! Great video as always, love seeing you out in the Great Outdoors 🏞. The South Dorset Ridgeway looks like a beautiful place to explore and the history behind the Hardy Monument is really interesting 📜. Keep up the good work! Have a belter of a weekend!
Yes it's unusual to have 2 famous people with the same name so close together. Here's the interesting bit though. Admiral Thomas hardy died in 1839 and Thomas Hardy the writer was born in 1840. Is it possible that he was named after the distinguished naval local hero?
This was a really interesting and beautiful video from up and above the "normal" South West Coast Path. I have wondered a bit about the Ridgeway and how it looks and now I know more. Thank you 😊
Thanks again Torunn. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it myself as I thought I'd miss the fantastic sea views and tugged cliffs we normally enjoy when on the coast path but there was more than enough to enjoy. I guess if you're walking the whole path in one go then by the time you get here you've already walked nearly 600 miles of coastline so it would probably make a lovely change.
@@JoeCoastal Yes, I have considered to do the Ridgeway instead of Chesil Beach, when (if) the time comes. But then I will probably miss out on Portland Circle. So I will have to give it some thoughts 🙂People say that Portland is different and interesting, but I don't know HOW interesting it is, and some find it a bit boring 😉
I can see why it could be considered boring. Personally I quite like portland and some of the views from the island are unparalleled. You get views of Chesil and of Weymouth Bay that you wouldn't get anywhere else unless you were talking a helicopter ride. That said I would definitely recommend this alternative to you as it offers a different view of home country that you won't see just sticking tight to the coastline.
@@JoeCoastal Thank you for the tip I'll bear it in mind and discuss it with my walking friend when the time comes 🙂 I really like the coastal walking, but has also walked inland. As St. Michael's Way from Marazion to St. Ives, which was lovely, but still not as satisfying walking as the coastal areas. But we got a great view of both coasts from Trencrom Hill, so it was well worth it 🙂
Great video and soundtrack Joe 😊
Cheers mate. Thanks for watching.
