@@Xsiondu - Army Ranger wound up in extreme CQC with an insurgent at the Haditha Dam in Iraq. They were clearing rooms in a house full of hostiles and one pulled a grenade at kissing distance. Ranger slammed into him to trap the spoon and the hand to keep the grenade from being deployed, wound up entangled and couldn't reach his sidearm (chest rig instead of drop leg holster, if I remember correctly) or knife, so he grabbed the only thing he could- an MRE spoon he'd stuffed into his MOLLE straps earlier and stabbed the insurgent in the neck repeatedly until he stopped moving. As anyone who has ever held an MRE spoon can attest, they are NOT the same as the cheap plastic spoons you get from the store. Better than most of the stories the algorithm has been feeding me lately. Sounds like it was at least written by a person. This could be fleshed out into a pretty decent story, with some more dialog, physical narration, etc, to replace the mental and emotional process outlines.

Ok, this is the one that got me to subscribe. I do review critically, but also praise well plotted narratives. This one was a terrific change from all the stories about the indomitable humans saving the galaxy like some unelected bunch of super heroes. Those stories tend to all sound the same and ... well now that I'm subscribed, I'll start commenting on them but never with a mind to be cruel, just honest, if sometimes pointed, observations and sometimes even some suggestions to fill out plot holes. In any case this story paints a picture, that to me sounds a lot more plausible, and sheds a far more realistic light on humanity as seen through Jax. The story was rushed in one aspect that kept knawing at me while I listened to the rest, and that was how bug boy got into trouble. Maybe it's because I'm looking at the situation through the sensibilities of a human. It was hard for me to follow how he officially got exiled for not breaking any rules or breaking any laws. A few lines of dialogue between them could maybe shed a little light on that. What exactly happened that caused an official trial followed by banishment? I'm sure that the offense would be very clear to your Thyroxeian readers, but it flew over the heads of your human readers. I really like the premise of the rebellion. Not a traditional war where people are fighting and dying and ships are blowing up, but an attack on the infrastructure which is what the problem is. Wouldn't it be grand if all wars were fought like that?
