    You mentioned adding hard boiled eggs to the seasoning solution, how long do the eggs need to be in the solution before they're ready? Thanks!! Love the videos!

    The other day I was eating pickled pike and had no crackers or bread but wanted something with it, so I added a tiny dollop of cream cheese to each bite. Couldn't stay out of it.

    Hey Biff, boil the mixture of vinegar / sugar / spices or just until the sugar dissolves?

    Hi, ! nice video, i´ve pickled herring, but now will try pike also. One question, why do you not put the fish in the brine with the pickling spices and onion, and let it mature there, instead of pickling first in vinegar and then rinsing and puttin it in. as there is vinegar also in the pickling mixture it would spare one workphase

      Answer: The first step has a ton of salt in it, it would taste horrible.

    Do you have to freeze before pickling or does the salt brine kill off parasites

    • @boneheadwaterfowl8795
      @boneheadwaterfowl8795  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's highly recommended to freeze for at least 48 hours to kill off parasites!

    Do you have a recipe for the pickled jalapenos?
    I pickled sardines and they always come out mushy. Is that bad in terms of freshness or it's just the type of fish?
    I am pickling mackerel starting tonight.

    • @boneheadwaterfowl8795
      @boneheadwaterfowl8795  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure about the fish, walleye gets mushy after sitting in the jar too long. We're hoping to post the pickled jalapeno recipe sometime this year!

      @@boneheadwaterfowl8795 sardines are a super oily fish, so maybe that's why they do that. Don't know, but I didn't like the texture, so I'm trying different types now. My store didn't have pike, so maybe another time.
      It's all fun stuff regardless.
      Good video.

    Catches 35 inch pike....trims it down to a bluegill's worth of meat. Just throw it back boss or ditch the electric knife you toss away that much meat.
