Not to mention this original score by Bill Conti! One of the very few movies where I actually continue watching when the credits roll due to this amazing score.
My uncle took me to see this movie in 1983 at just 12 years old. My pops had just passed away earlier that year. This event helped shape my life. I remember walking out of the theater feeling different. I wanted to be tough and fearless like Sean Penn’s character but also wise in my decision making. This movie and soundtrack definitely helped shape my life!
‘95 baby here. I saw this film back in junior high. I guess it was the first “hood” movie outside of 1970s black exploitation films and 90s hood films (Young Blood 1978 was the first next to The Warriors)
In 1996, while in college. I was going to watch a few movies with my friends. They requested "Bad Boys", with Will Smith, and Martin Lawrence But they weren't specific in what they wanted. Now Bad Boys to me, is this harrowing masterpiece. Anyway my friends, who were at first disappointed, watched it. Needless to say, s few girls in the rec room were crying their eyes out. While a few of my friends came up to me, to thank me for introducing them to the film. I couldn't believe the rec room was filled with students who skipped going out, just so they can watch this movie.
I remember watching this with my little brother in the living room growing up; we lost him last year to suicide; fkn hurts like hell to hear this and remember when we were little.
So sorry for your loss, are you ok? People get depressed and desperate but they don’t reach out to family because it’s embarrassing to have those thoughts and feelings.
Very intense film. ..outstanding cast....very good soundtrack...underrated film...Penn and Morales did great work on this film...Jim Moody and Allie Sheedy..super performances ..wow...the time this came out in theaters I stayed all day for 3 views just for the score alone...but Penn ,Morales and Sheedy did superb ..damn they don't make it like this anymore.
After all these years I still can't listen to this soundtrack without balling. This music is so freakin beautiful. Can you imagine a classical ballet choreographed to this? I can! This soundtrack should be available like his others. I've had Rocky for years.
This movie title is totally overshadowed by the Will Smith, M. Lawrence version, yet while this was a great movie in its own right, the closing theme music is hauntingly beautiful. Thanks for posting.
This song takes me back to when this movie was being made in front of my old house Montrose & Kenmore. It breaks me down at times cause I reminisce of lots of good and bad things, My father that past away when I was a shorty, and friends that I have lost. One of Bill Conti best theme songs ever............................. El Meme !!!!!!!! Shout out to my cousins they we're there when this movie was being filmed y'all know who y'all are I love y'all......................................PEACE
"Bad Boys" (1983) is Sean Penn's runner up to his undisputed No.1 "At Close Range" (1985). They just don't make 'em like this anymore! Do they? Nah...they don't! I miss the 70's & the 80's. Wish we all could go back in time & experience it all over again. I'd love that! "Dead Man Walking" (1995) gets the bronze medal. These three are Mr. Penn's "Magnificent Three".
Glorious melancholy. I saw the movie in '83 and it's this masterful music that keeps me coming back again and again. It's an absolutely perfect match to the film's story line. Thanks Mr. Conti.
The tug and pull of the strings tells the frustration of the lead character as he deals with the unpredictable pearls of prison life. The melody seems to also carry his determination to make it out alive. Finally. The building then the lowering of the crescendo of the high violins near the ending of the music defines the tears on his face as he limps back to his prison cell. Beautifully written.
Very nice interpretation...it is a beautiful song. I would watch the movie because I love it but also to hear this song in particular. Now it's part of my daily routine, good thing for TH-cam.
This played at the first of the Movie is so fitting. The innocence of children in the pics they show as the music gradually upbeats into the tragic final piece where ya realize the innocence was stolen or manipulated. Movies nowadays barely bring a tear in your eye . Back then just the theme music would. Man how i miss the pass. Nostalgia everyday
😭 I don’t ever want to go back 🏰⛓ I remember this song playing in my head on my way to the joint a mix of emotions holding back tears 🥹 couldn’t show weakness I missed my family so much I broke there hearts 5 years flew by I can’t believe I’m here 7 years later thankful to God almighty for always watching over me - A former Bad Boy
@veganhigler6541 Not sure what you’re implying?? I love this movie so much I can no longer just allow the movie to just play through because I keep rewinding it back either for a scene or because of the music.
This is such a song!! It really gets your heart!!! Especially when you got a deep soul like myself!! I'm posting this on a snowy New York morning, its just making me think about what should be!!! You really hear the rocky in the first two minutes, of course these songs are great it's bill conti he's a Italian man!!! Who is that from what movie just a little movie trivia! No hints tho, first prize a 75 coupedeville haha, later
Damn this song get to me because you think of how the kids in the gangs and how they give their lives up so fast and have no hope and faith and lose it at such a young age.my god help our kids
This sound track is so beautiful, it's up there with Indecent Proposal, Bridges over Madison County, Grand Torino ,Forest Gump, many many more...Music that takes you somewhere other than the detritus that grips our society.
I dont know why but i really like this music it makes me feel happy, sad ,peacful ,mad ,young, and old almost all at the same time its weird but i dig it .

I Agree Sean Penns Best Movie💯 felt so bad for Mickey I knew when he burned Jcs picture he was never getting out of there😢 the movie with Will smith was about cops. This was about teenagers mostly from the wrong side of the neighborhood in Juvie . If Paco hadn’t a been there Mickey could have made it Sad. It was sad for all of them!!! Horowitz was A SocialPath and really belonged there or in the Nut house. He was so young. And some of the others were just Doomed caz they were born bad. Mickey just made bad choices big difference!!!
I interpreted the ending with him crying that he felt like he wasn't ever gonna get out of there and also that he felt like a coward for not taking him out but I like to think that maybe he got out of trouble because he didn't instigate the fight Paco did and he was acting in self defense and plus he didn't kill him which would definitely help his case
@@abdulhouser the ending makes it seem that way but he didn't start the fight paco did and paco knocked out the guard so all he has to do is claim self defense
Cool, but there's little sense in comparing something from the real world, the intelligent world (things made for now, yesterday, tommorrow, 5 years from now, 105 years from now, or any time forever) to some sadistic, horseplay, to kill time cartoon world that Smith's pics inhabit which is made until daddy comes home and gives the sick 2 year old the most (really the very most) inspiring talking to.
This was one of the most underated movies of all time.
eugene stuart it’s cheesy but has great actors
Enjoyable! Sean Penn gas certainly grown in humanities!

everytime I mention this movie everyone thinks I'm talking about the Will Smith movie. This is much better. One of Sean Penn's best.
msmithstud So true... Folks don't know/realize this movie came out first, and the impact it still has today.....
@eric Dubwaaa Yes, but I haven’t had a fight in almost a year.
Damnnnn i have the same thing !! Lol
This and "at close range " are two of Sean Penn's best acting performances IMO.
Your not alone on that one
Bill Conti was a great composer
this song is really touching.
A simply amazing song for such a violent/heartbreaking movie.
HrglassHealer heart breaking Bill conti is the best on hitting those themes I agree and a great movie highly underrated

Travis Isaac That’s a great story
Whenever i talk about the original bad boys i have to specify the one with Sean Penn & Esai Morales or the 80s one lol
This soundtrack is very beautiful and very sad!
Conti sure knows how to tug at your Heart strings with his emotional music....Should've won the Oscar for this one!!!!
Jah bless me peace and serenity today
