  • After the unwanted intermezzo with the roof repair I was finally able to return to my garden kitchen project. Also here an old roof problem interfere with my work. The roof (made of concrete) on this old hen-/rabbit house was in very bad shape and I repaired it 3 years ago [see tinyurl.com/yc... and tinyurl.com/n2... ].
The years had also taken its toll on the supporting pillars and furthermore was the position of the pillars not optimal for my design of the space. I had casted new pillars years ago and now it was finally time to get the new ones in place🤓
    Of course new challenges appeared😏
I had planned to use the old border foundation made of bricks and concrete as footing for the new pillars, but after more thorough inspection I realized I had to improve the foundation for the new pillars.
[Actually realized I have to reinforce all old border foundation, but that's another post]
A bit tricky to build moulds for the concrete (out of scrap wood-always recycling😉) with appropriate height so the new pillars would fit and also construct a system for good fixation with steel bars 😵‍💫
Some trial and error but at the end I learned how to do it.
The new pillars was (and are) ridiculously heavy and I also had to build in some sort of safety measures in case I dropped one 🙄
As you can imagine it was of outermost importance getting the measures right in terms of perpendicularly vertically and horizontally and to get the distances right. Fortunately I have my cross line laser level gadget 😂
To fixate the new pillars properly I used a combination of concrete, angle irons and a super-strong construction adhesive.
Pretty pleased with the result - slow & steady (poco, poco-piano, piano). Sometimes it's like moments in love (a video also with pillars)
    🤓🇮🇹🤓
