I hope everyone who watched this video, also took the time to stream Down a couple of times. This song flopped for a lot of reasons but mostly because fans let the girls down (no pun) in my book. You can complain that there was no promo (there was, certainly enough for a single from a 5 year old group who retained their brand name to have exposure. They shouldn't require the same level of promo as a debuting act that ran a pretty standard promo campaign FYI) but the fact is even if the song wasn't selling much, which it hasnt because it's been outside of the Top 100 selling songs on iTunes for 4 out of the 5 weeks it's been out, at least the streaming numbers should look better if the fandom put in the effort but even those numbers look weak. 200k streams a day on the music video? Really? From a fandom that used to do 700k for the girls on all videos for an entire month before the general public caught the song. Y'all can pretend you're here for the girls but a lot of you aren't or you keep lying to them and telling them songs like Down are the direction they should be going in.
Well a lot of people leave 5H for C, but I love all of them, I support all the girl but when Down comes out I was so excited but when I hear the song, was so normal, the song is meh, is not a bomb that I was expecting and when Crying in the club comes out my expectetion was so low and ahe really surprisme and more with I have questions, Camila wins my heart and 5H Disappointed to me because they are better than a ''DOWN''
Sydni Crooks it's true that they've been on vacation or working on solo stuff for weeks now but still stuff like streaming and first week sales are up to fans to give the song a push. I know I streamed like I was supposed to and bought and gifted. This song hasn't even crossed 60k units sold yet. It's been out a month! It's the worst any of their singles have done since the EPs
It's not the fans' fault. Fans can only do so much. If general public don't like the song, then it's not gonna hold its position in the iTunes chart. Obviously general public didn't like the song.. In my opinion cos it is too similar to Work From Home. Trying to recreate a hit doesn't work. Just like when Ariana did with Focus and everyone thought it's like Problem. Hence it debuted high on the charts but did not stay for long at all.

That wasn't typical in any way, and it was less about promoting the song and probably more about just giving her exposure and allowing her to debut in front of her peers the song had been out for like 2 days and no one had heard it so it wasn't going to do much for it especially when Celine, Drake, and Cher were there but even so it did get a boost. Secondly, TV like late night only comes about a month in after radio has carried the song as high as it probably will. Down was selling 5k copies a week and was out of the 100 on iTunes since week 2, going on TV would've had little effect and they can't discount it because it's not even made the money it needed to yet. It needs to at LEAST sell a fraction of what the song cost and with a 3,4 producers/writers and a $30-40k Gucci feature verse I'm sure it, like all their singles, was an expensive song. Down has GMA, a big summer show for iHeart, another 2-3 festival like performances, a radio tour, an iHeart radio deal for the week before radio impact leading up to the summer show, it even got a press tour to Condé Nast where MTV/Teen Vogue/ ET & 10 other publications wrote about them extensively "fifth harmony is keeping their name" and so on. It then got radio payola because the song was insanely low & dropping by every metric and somehow was still gaining radio especially at big stations like Z100 whereas Camila's song has double the sales & charts positions and is getting negative spin updates. They even did Spotify and Apple Music playlist payola. The song got enough promo but none of it helped it sell enough for them to waste a TV performance on it when they can save that for the next single. I'm referring and more upset tho by the lack of streams which fans can TOTALLY control
