How I Store & Organize My Sports Cards Collection! So Many Different Methods to Choose From!

- Here is How I Store & Organize My Sports Card Collection! There are many different ways to go about organizing and storing sports cards, particularly football cards for me. I Organize them by Panini product set, by year (for rookies), by numbered cards, autographs, and jersey cards, and by team! There's always another way to organize cards, and there really is no "right" way to have them organized, organize your sports cards however you prefer! I store a majority of mine in the cardboard storage boxes. While living in an apartment, it's more difficult to find nice displays to showoff the cards, so storage boxes will have to do until I have more room - just have to keep building the PC! Of course, there are also different storage / protection methods using top loaders, one touch cases, etc.
So the question is.. how do you store and organize your cards?! Do you store any of your card collection the same way I do? Is there another video you'd like to see regarding storage, protection, etc of sports cards? Let me know in the comments!

It's interesting to see how each person stores and sorts their collections. Anything beats wrapping the cards with rubber bands and storing in shoe boxes

That is very cool. I am the same way. In the old days, we used to collect sets 1-99 whatever. And display them in Ultra Pro platinum series. That was life before numbered cards and autos. The sport has changed big time. Your collection looks amazing. Congrats...

I just started collecting football cards two years ago and so I don’t use the boxes (much yet), I like the card albums and have an album for every team.

Awesome Wayne! I used to use card albums, but questioned how safe the cards are in those sleeves, and also just ran out of room in them haha
Thought I would let you know since you said you have been collecting for 2 years only
That the boxes he is using are not made for top loaded cards .
The only boxes that are made to store top loaded cards are 3 row boxes or 2 row boxes.
The problem with 2 row boxes are they don’t hold enough and takes hundreds of them .
They take up a lot of space also where 3 row boxes hold more top loaded cards then a 4 row box will.
The 4 row boxes are only made for sleeved cards and bare cards top loaded cards fit to tight in 4 row boxes.
Watch his video where he shows his 5 row box full of top loaded cards the middle row is sideways because they want fit in there straight only sideways.
That’s because there not made to hold nothing but bare cards or just small penny sleeved cards only.
Just thought if you ever switch to boxes good tip to know on which sizes boxes to buy for top loaded cards which is 3 row boxes or 2 row boxes only not 4 or 5 row boxes.
Also thought you should know most cards over the years that get bent really easy come out of Albums but everybody prefers to collect a certain way it’s easy to bend a corner while putting the card in or if you ever take them out just a tip

The way I store my cards is similar. I separate the rookies by position. I have one 5000 count box just for numbered, mem cards and autos. My pc guys or teams get their own boxes.
Just so many ways to store them! Lol

The bad part about the way he is storing the cards is actually wrong.
Now let me tell you why it’s wrong watch his video again .
Ok the 5 row box is not made for top loaded cards.
If you watch the video you will see his top loaders are sideways in the middle row .
That’s because only 3 row boxes are the only box made to store top loaded cards.
They fit perfect in the 3 row box and actually hold more then the 4 row boxes.
But the 4 row boxes are also not made to store top loaded cards.
3 row and 2 row boxes are the only boxes made to store top loaded cards.
But 2 row boxes you have to have a bunch and I think there 2 small myself.
But thought I would give you a quick tip to collecting and storing top loaded cards.
I have been collecting for 40 years .
You need to know some tips I can help.

I would sleeve up all of them one touches, it's really worth it so ya dont scratch the cases to hell
I actually had some one touch sleeves delivered today, it’s been on my list that I procrastinated for quite some time, they’ll all be sleeved by the end of today! Lol
Where did you get the one touch sleeves? I just have regular sleeves over the card and it is noticeable.

Thanks for showing your collection and storage tips! I use the same giant cardboard boxes too. Took the time to print some labels to stick on top of the BCW tall dividers and they look nice.
One question - how/where do you store all these giant boxes so they are accessible but also don't take up tons of (tabletop) space? I'm looking for some kind of set of drawers that are deep enough to hold these boxes (19" front to back) and haven't found anything yet...

You honestly should switch to 3 row boxes there made for top loaders.
Those 5 row Bowes are not made for those holders only 3 row boxes only.
That is why your cards are sitting sideways in the middle row.
They fit perfect in the 3 row box.
Just a tip I have been collecting for almost 40 years.
Same with the 4 row boxes there not made for top loaders some are only few.
Thought you might want to try it big difference cards fit perfect in 3 row.
Well you could use 2 row boxes but for me there 2 small and takes to many 4 row and 5 row boxes are only made for bare cards and sleeve cards only not top loaded cards.
They make a wide 5 row box made for top loaders but what he has isn’t wide.
The 5 row boxes are to bulky not easy to move if you like to look at cards often.

Love the video brother! Throughout the years my methods of sorting has changed drastically.. when I very first started collecting back in like 2009 I just sorted by set essentially. I then changed to sorting by team. I tried alphabetically and that was way too long when I kept buying cards daily so I changed to just alphabetically by team, and at the time this is all in binders mind you. I never knew about boxes and toploaders or penny sleeves at this time. Then when I learned of all that I began what I do now which is essentially I have a PC Steelers box, PC WVU and Oregon alum box, PC Mason Rudolph, Leveon Bell and Will Grier boxes, and then boxes of star players now, HOFers, potential players and rookies and inserts- and of course some base boxes lol. May have to make a video sometime when I get back from the Army!
It's all a learning process!! and there's SOOO many different ways to organize lol I even end up changing it every few months.. just can never be satisfied with it I guess! lol
I've got about 30000 cards and it's a mess!! One day I'll straighten them out.
I love it. Very similar to how I do it but instead of my pc it's the sets

@@Vikings95 I have a safe for my higher end cards. Then I have a box for $50 and below auto or patch. Then I have the rest as inserts or serial number in their own box. Then I have it by sets.

Maybe you should invest in a hard case that’s waterproof and has a lock on it. I would put the expensive ones in there and leave the Vikings,Bears and Lions cards in the cardboard boxes. 😝
I do actually have one of those now! At the time of the video, I didn't, but I made it quite a while ago haha Definitely worth it for the bigger cards!

I have over 100 nfl rookies that I collected through the years, and trying to buy some more cards. I want to ask a question after I saw this video, is it best to display the cards in a binder(I have my cards in them) or in storage box for cards. Where do you get the card cases from?
Where did you get the big top loader box. All I can find is 3 row ones
I got the 5 row boxes (5,000 count box) at my local card shop! They had them in stock at the time
The 3 row ones are actually the only boxes made to hold top loaded cards .
4 and 5 row boxes are not made for top loaded cards so you are buying the right ones .
He is using the wrong one for top loaded cards there not made for them.
What do you do with the base cards that aren’t as valuable?
Separate them by team generally

I have a question if you don’t mind answering, I’ve noticed when watching these types of videos. People don’t always put there one touches in one touch resealable bags and some people do. I personally put my one touches in those resealable bags so the one touches don’t get all scratched up cause I don’t want to replace them. So is there like any down sides to putting the one touches in resealable bags like taking too much space. So yeah if you if anyone could answer that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
Very good observation!! I actually had some on the way when the video was made, and now every single one of my one touches are in the resealable bags!👍 I don’t see any downside to it, and know it typically is the best practice. I just didn’t get my bags in in time for the video😂

What’s the thickness on an autograph panini nfl card?

Was this the “full lid box”? I know there are 2 different 5000 count boxes. One has a little bit wider rows and the other one has a full lid or cover. If this was the full lid, does it fit your cards in top loaders well because I am going to get a storage box and I want to make sure my cards in top loaders and my base cards will be able to fit well.
I didn't know there were two types! This one does have a full lid to cover it.. the rows do get tight if you have every row filled with top loaders, but generally it isn't too bad. the 5,000 count boxes get tighter than the 4,000 count ones in this video!

Was disappointed to hear about him being out for a bit, even if he’s a packer! I enjoy seeing my ISU guys do well! I stay away from binders unless they are of base card sets, I feel like they don’t keep the card safe completely

Hello. Can any one tell me when PSA allows 60/40 centering on the front of a PSA Gem 10 card? I've looked at hundreds of cards now from the early 80's to the present and couldn't find a card with worse than 55/45 centering in either direction on the front. This is in spite of the fact that PSA says in their grading description on their web site that the front centering standard is, "not to exceed approximately 55/45 to 60/40 percent on the front

Some cards are thicker than others, generally "most" of them are 100 or 130 point

I sort the base cards by team, I do occasionally sell cards too! I'd be broke if I kept everything haha
I store mine in top loaders and perfect fit sleeves and the hits in one touches and perfect fit sleeves and all in a box
