I would gladly trade the new ChatGPT functionality for the ability to include entity states and values in TTS messages from within the visual editor. Home Assistant needs to focus on getting more of the basic functionality that still requires YAML into the visual editor where less technical folks can better utilize it.

Improvements to adding entity info in the visual editor would certainly be helpful.
I do think though that they have made massive improvements to prevent you from needing to use YAML over the last year or two.
I believe the guys doing the Voice Assistant stuff is kind of a separate team so wouldn't impact UI progress really.
They have big goals, so I'm sure YAML will be required less and less each month.

Interesting set of updates. Am surprised you don’t use blueprints. They are handy if you have many of the same devices, eg the same type of light switches controlling the same type (or different) light bulbs. There’s some cool stuff around battery monitoring as well. That said, what I really want to do is write my own blueprints so I can eliminate some of the duplication across some of my automations.

I should definitely look into BluePrints more for sure! Yeah I think if I learn to write my own then I will likely use them more.

Finding a Blueprint is a nightmare in the sea of 'stuff'. Once you find what you want it's great, but I think getting there needs some work.

Isn't that what scripts and variables are for? I've been using them to prevent duplication from way before Blueprints were even a thing.

Yeah that's what I do really. Being able to run a script from the dashboard and choose an input value is also a useful recent addition.

That works up to a point. But if you take something like a bunch of remote controls which each require a long choose tree in the action and a similar mess in the trigger, you can see the value of avoiding that kind of duplication. A blueprint would let you only have to set up the actions for each button you were interested in, on each automation. Sorry if that explanation is difficult to read. Can’t think of a clearer way to express my point.

I'm not at the point of getting rid of my Google assistants yet, but not far off!
I'm sure more improvements in this area will come this year.

I wonder what the hardware requirements are for the new LLM feature. There are many users using Single Board Computer for Home Assistent. Can they use this new feature?
