- Picked up these 2 engines for 30 bucks a couple months ago, very interesting what I found inside the one! Its a fully built racing go kart engine, bored to .060" oversize with a aftermarket cam and rod! Thanks for Watching!!!

Nice interesting video, glad they started after all the work. I felt that sprain, so easy to do, hope its healed now. You really need to clamp that engine mount to the bench Frank, it'll make starting them easier for one, and two it won't go walkabout. Thanks for sharing.

WOW, you REALLY scored big time getting these 2 motors for $30!!! My son has been spending a mint buying used Raptor engines, and parts. We hope to have a Raptor 4 running on a little mini bike some time in the future. You did a good job getting the engines running! I hope your wrist has recovered, I almost broke my wrist when a 1" drill caught while drilling a pipe, it took a long time to start to feel right again. My son told me to use step drills, he was right they work much better in thin steel or pipe, though I did have to cut the tip off of one so the I don't drill through the far side of the pipe when making an intake manifold.

Great video! 60 over on an iron-sleeved 5hp? Yours had been racing, neglected a while & still fired right up. A great find for 30 bux!
What I learned from G54 is that if you throw the piston in a lathe and slap an extra piston ring, you'll greatly improve compression even if the bore is scratched heavily.
That probably would be a good way to boost compression, never thought of that. Thanks for Watching!!!
@@fnaguitarplayer9 technically the issue with scratches is gas escaping the piston ring. But if the total span of all piston rings is larger than the scratch, the scratch is "invisible" to the piston. It probably makes more wear on the engine since now there's a new hard metal scraper in there.
Technically if there's even a piston ring at the bottom of the piston (not that you can fit one there), all piston rings can act as a bearing surface and reduce piston wobbles.
Ground cams are completely smooth on the lifter path. Factory cams almost look cut or something not smooth.
Thanks for all these videos. Could you help how to identify 2 - 3,5hp Briggs without the cover? I remember seeing the difference is cylinder size etc and flywheel stamp tells the year? Also would be cool to see video about the different link systems (rods and springs) with actual measurements to replicate them. I'm missing all the air governor connectors and postages are quite steep to Finland...

Machine shops have gone up to much to be having them bored and the cost of over size rings is just a Hugh shock

I have a few questions for you about the briggs 5hp Flathead. 1 what machine shop do you use to get them bored and 2 im in the market for 2-3 briggs 5hp Flathead around me they are extinct and no machine shop is works with small engines. If there's any way you could help out with information it would be greatly appreciated thanks

I have a Blue wazzoom motor that I get such severe kick back I can't even use it. I changed the carb to a VM22 and running it on gas .Literally broke two pull handles it kicks back so hard.Changed key to stock key already and as you know these use a 3hp flywheel too .Can the factory coil holder be offset ? Any ideas?
