  • Was Hitler a Socialist or a Capitalist? Many people think my stance on this is completely wrong, and they're out to prove why. So today, I get OWNED.
I'm NOT a Fascist, I'm NOT a Nazi, I'm NOT a Marxist, and I'm NOT racist or anything else. I do not support said evil ideologies and I'm not promoting them either. My goal here is to give as accurate an account of history as possible so that we may learn from our mistakes and prevent history from repeating.
For TH-cam moderators: the author of the video I'm responding to here gave me permission to respond to their video. I show their comment giving me permission at timestamp 27:56 . He said: "I have zero objection, you can even mock me if you want."

    ABOUT TIK 📝
History isn’t as boring as some people think, and my goal is to get people talking about it. I also want to dispel the myths and distortions that ruin our perception of the past by asking a simple question - “But is this really the case?”. I have a 2:1 Degree in History and a passion for early 20th Century conflicts (mainly WW2). I’m therefore approaching this like I would an academic essay. Lots of sources, quotes, references and so on. Only the truth will do.
This video is discussing events or concepts that are academic, educational and historical in nature. This video is for informational purposes and was created so we may better understand the past and learn from the mistakes others have made.

Couple of points. Please don’t go to ODS’s channel to mass-downvote his videos or anything like that. Don’t call him names etc. I want to persuade him (and others) to take this more seriously, not turn them hostile.
And I know this isn’t my usual video format, and I wasn’t going to release it on a Monday… but then I thought, no, this deserves to be a Monday video. I actually think there’s something for everyone here. My haters will love it because I get “owned”. My supporters will love it because… (no spoilers). And that final 10 minutes is one of my favourite pieces of video I think I’ve ever made! You may not think so, but I certainly do!
Regardless, I hope you enjoy the video. Let me know what you learned. I may actually upload the final 10 minutes as a separate video later this week, because I think it’s brilliant. Seriously, how close can you be to seeing the light!?
    Cheers!

    • @Gvjrapiro
      @Gvjrapiro 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

yeah because he wasn't a socialist at all, not that hard
funny, when one actually examines his own words and terminology, they come to that conclusion, any other conclusion is just impossible
That's why, after all, the actual "verbatim quotes" can be examined within context and found to contain nothing like what you're asserting. The actual quotes where hitler says what he wants that reflects what he tried to do, prove he wasn't a socialist. The problem is, you'll take any assertion of propaganda or any term ripped from definition and context, and claim it "clearly" proves socialism... which you've had to lie about and redefine to even get to that conclusion. Hardly clear.
the fact that you're very willing to exclusively take him on his word is worrying
but hey, as long as you feel you can dismiss any evidence you don't like, you won't see that.
Odd, when did "historian" or "person in tune with basic reality" become "socialist?"

@Tim B I have read and listened to many of Hitler's speeches, not sure what watching them will do. I think people get confused because Hitler was not a stable man. However, for anyone to suggest that he did not hate capitalism and the global economy is just insincere, in fact it was one of the main reasons behind his anti-semitism. Regardless of whether or not you agree with TIK, you cannot reasonably claim that he does not contend with the counter arguments. The idea that he is never able to be convinced of anything is objectively false, as I have seen him change his mind on multiple issues. Therefore the claim that "he will never be convinced by anything" is objectively disprovable and demonstrates that your perception does not align with reality.

He does let his ego slip through sometimes though, especially when it comes to politics and economics. For example, he let his bias against leftism get the better of him in his “Marx’s Antisemitism” video to where he mischaracterized Marx’s views several times in a seeming effort to “prove” Marxists and socialists are antisemitic by nature. It was a very unscientific approach where he had a conclusion: “socialists are antisemitic,” and sought evidence to prove it, rather than the other way around. This caused him to make extrapolations and connections where there were none. For example, he made the very careless error of mistaking Marx’s definition of “a capitalist,” meaning someone who owned capital and the means of production, with the more colloquial definition of capitalist as someone who supported the institution of capitalism. This caused him to misunderstand Marx saying that “A man is a leader of industry because he is a capitalist” to mean “only Jews are leaders of industry” rather than the real and more logical meaning of “those who have the money and means of production are leaders of industry.” That video is full of little and bigger errors like that, like misunderstanding the use of terms like “Pharisee” and “philistine,” to totally missing the meaning of dialectics. Let’s not even get into TIK’s very... niche take that corporations somehow aren’t capitalist.
Is any of this to say that Marx himself didn’t hold antisemitic views or that racism didn’t color some of his views? No. But to paint every single thing he wrote as inherently full of antisemitic dog whistles, and by extension, all socialists as secretly antisemitic (despite the fact that TIK himself has said that Marx didn’t invent socialism) is incredibly misguided at best, and downright dishonest at worst. Not to mention that it ignores the decades of leftist/socialists theory pioneered by Jews and anti-racists that are explicitly intersectional and anti-racist.

Those who honestly admit the atrocities of socialism simply deny that the regimes involved were socialist. The argument is that Stalinism was a perversion of socialism. The problem is that this is the way all socialist regimes behaved with varying degrees of brutality. I have had many internet discussions, and I always ask, name one successful socialist regime. Or one socialist regime that did not use extreme violence. And they never take me up on the challenge. Some suggest European democratic socialism. But these are not socialist regimes. These countries do not ban private property. They allow free trade unions and have core capitalist economies.

The simple fact is that without worker owned control of the means of production, an economy is simply not socialist. Hitler privatized utilities, the railway network, steelworks, mining industries, maritime trade industries, military production, banks, etc.
But it doesn't matter. People who say that Nazis are Socialist are inherently dishonest. You can't argue the Nazis were socialist if you look at their economic model. People who claim the Nazis are socialist only do so to smear socialism.

Hitler didn't "ABOLISH" private property in the Reichstag Fire Decree: FALSE NARRATIVE. These are the decree words: "restrictions on property, are also permissible beyond the legal limits otherwise prescribed." RESTRICTIONS NOT ABOLISHMENT. Also, Nationalised doesn't mean Socialised. We can still see what you do there! By explaining how Nazis took charge of the industries but gave no worker's representation or power you prove that that's not Socialism but STATALISM. TIK ignored completely the Class ideology of Socialism mixing state/unions/workers/society when addressing the "egalitarian aim". TIK himself says Hitler's opposed (or more like ignored) the class struggle view of the world. That shows how Hitler himself voluntary ignored what Socialism was by ignoring the workers' emancipation point of Socialism: it undermined the logical base of its stupid ideological invention. Hitler is a liar but didn't lie just there only? Maybe BECAUSE YOU WANT TO BELIEVE SO! What if he was lying there too, manipulating the concept of Socialism just to appeal to the workers? It makes more sense than him being a liar just when you need him to be, while you ignore the definition of Socialism. But if you look at the definition of Socialism, supporting the "whole nation" is automatically anti-Socialist and just Statalist. BECAUSE YOU ARE IGNORING THE PART ABOUT WORKERS' RIGHTS TO REPRESENTATION AND PARTICIPATION TO THE DECISION MAKING PROCESS. The "GERMAN" OWNERSHIP OF THE MEANS OF PRODUCTION DOESN'T MEAN THE WORKERS' OWNERSHIP OF THE MEANS OF PRODUCTION (SOCIALISM) BECAUSE THAT OWNERSHIP WAS SHARED BETWEEN THE STATE, ANDTHE OWNERS (WHEN NOT REPLACED) WHILE THE NAZI WORKERS' UNIONS HAD NO LEGISLATIVE/DECISION MAKING POWER (LIKE THE SOVIETS HAD INITIALLY, FOR EXAMPLE). Here, I explained to you what you asked at 29:10. You can't support "the whole nation" and being Socialist, because you are not addressing the workers' power imbalance. You justify this just saying that in Nazi German the business owner were not completely in charge. True, the state was above the business owners but that doesn't mean that workers were granted more decision making power!! State DOES NOT MEAN WORKERS/LOWER CLASSES. "NATIONS ARE SOCIETIES" (30:08) NO, SIR. Nation: a large body of people united by common descent, history, culture, or language, inhabiting a particular country or territory. One quick and dirty way to determine the reliability of a Wikipedia article is to go the 'Talk' page associated with each article. If the 'Talk' page is rational and adult, the article is probably reliable. If the 'Talk' page is contentious or even childish, the article is doubtful. The Left understands that Wikipedia has become the 'go-to source' for naive students and has organized efforts to control the tone and content of certain types of articles. Another way of looking at this is that you could survey people who have played Russian roulette and ‘prove’ from their experience that it is a harmless activity since those whom it was not harmless are unlikely to be surveyed (because they’re dead). "German industrialists were encouraged to eat the same food alongside their workers. If this is not egalitarianism, I don't know what is."
That sounds like a gesture intended to present the image of egalitarianism. I.E a PR stunt.. At the end of the day those workers went to their little homes and ate their rations whilst the industrial elite went home to their mansions and had servants cook them 5-star meals. No one could consider that to be egalitarianism. There was undeniable wealth inequality and an inequality of prestige and political power.
"Oh, and the whole concept that everyone "belonged", as long as you were considered German or Aryan and kowtowed to the Nazis. Sounds like a socialist/communist state to me."
Liberalism has the same dynamic. In Liberalism everyone "belongs" as long as they act within the confines of the law and don't threaten the liberal order, I.E as long as they are "good citizens". The difference is Nazism and Marxism have a more limited vision of what it means to be a "good citizen" whereby many more are excluded or eradicated than is the case in Liberalism. You are right to put "belonging" in quotes because it is a hollow concept under any system that has to use force to create homogenuity.

      >> *TIK* : I congratulate your efforts and solid research. I think what BOTH sides miss. is when both Socialism and Capitalism get CORRUPTED, that's why for both sides is so difficult to explain. There is something called CRONY CAPITALISM, which happens when the BIG private owners of the "means of production" are cronies of the State. Sometimes these big magnates "buy" the politicians and govts. Sometimes it is the State who "buys" them or coopts them with money, or else... And that's what happened with Adolf's Germany. Its a CORRUPTED brand of Capitalism. A brand of Crony Capitalism.... Mom and Pop shops existed, and also BIG corporations, as long as they supported Adolf. And yes, that's how Capitalism can be Totalitarian, like Germany was. When it gets corrrupted...
And that's why Capitalism not always means "freedom" for the individual, or anybody. When the BIG private corporations and the State are cronies.
In contrast, in the Communist (and Totalitarian) Soviet Union, there were NO "Mom and Pop" shops at all. No small workshops. No BIG Corporations and no magnates to "buy" or coopt. ALL private property was banned. Everything was owned by the State. And it also managed to get very corrupted, but that has nothing to do with Adolf. It was Communism, an extreme brand of Socialism. No private property at all. And also no individual freedom as we know it.
      Simple.
      PS . Extremes touch themselves.
Corruption can lead to totalitarianism, from the right wing or the left.

      So right.
Government does not provide free stuff. The first thing they charge when a person steps on that road of government dependence is personal dignity which leaves behind a cancer on the human spirit of individual liberty.
Many government programs have conditions which are much more blatant and objective restrictions on personal freedom, but loss of personal dignity is not so obvious but very insidious. It reduces a person to a state that is less than human.
The end result is well described in Alexander Solzhenitsyn's great work The Gulag Archipelago, but it begins with a mental lock down where individuals relinquish the ability and passionate desire to think for themselves.

TIK's video about Hitler's socialism is the best video on youtube. The level of research, study and knowledge, the amazing presentation in different colors from each ideology is just amazing. I can't imagine how much time must've taken to make that video. The problem is that today's young people have a very short attention span, they just watch 2 minutes of something or read two paragraphs and think they know everything about that subject.

Yes, that's definitely it... it's those damned young people. Nothing like our generation. Completely different. The 200 or so generations since civilization sprung up saying the same? Ignore those, they were wrong, our generation is great. Us saying it about the 201st generation? Now we're talking real shit. Those damned youngsters being stupid (unlike us), and ruining the world (unlike us, we did and are still doing great as a generation). Damned young people and them being so completely different to the previous thousands of generations of Homo Sapiens... there has never been such a difference between generations as there is today. • @TheImperatorKnight
      @TheImperatorKnight  3 ปีที่แล้ว +64

I initially lost a few hundred subscribers as a result of my stance on Hitler's Socialism. It's hard to judge because TH-cam only lists the cumulative total of subscribes and unsubscribes, not the individual amounts. So I lost 150 or so, but it could have been more like 200. I could also be losing a small amount of subscribers each day as a result of this, but the number of subscriptions outweighs the number of unsubscribes. There's only been a few days in the history of my channel where I've lost subscribers, and most of those have been when TH-cam deleted spam accounts. Interestingly, I lost more to TH-cam deleting spam accounts than I did for my stance on Hitler's Socialism.
I did lose a lot of Patreons as a result of the first National Socialism is Socialism video in 2018. Many messaged me instantly to tell me how I had "betrayed" them, and how I should be ashamed of myself for spouting "blatant lies". I had only just gone full time, and the hate I received and the loss of this Patreon base made me worry that I was going to have to go back to working in retail. I then got angry, and this is what drove me to quietly do my homework behind the scenes and create the 5 hour Hitler's Socialism video. I wanted to show that I hadn't just come to this view based on lies or propaganda, but on hard evidence and solid interpretation, and that the people who were ignoring me or slandering me were wrong or ideologues themselves. I think I've achieved my aim with that regard.
