Remember Euro 88. 8 teams.Germany, Holland, USSR, England, Italy, Spain Denmark Ireland. That is some lineup and we were 8 mins from semi finals. Goal was actually offside against us with the old rules.
It was offside. And we played USSR off the park, who reached the final. Without the late undeserved equaliser we conceded to them, we were in the semi final. Heady days.

Why would England be favourites????
Because people apparently have a mass memory failure when it comes to international tournaments, especially the Euros. Just a reminder, England have never won an opening game at the Euro's, or won a knockout game away from home, ie except Euro 96, where we were awful. Factor in that we have an abysmal manager, the team will be booed before every game, and place your bets on anyone but England right now.
The last time England won an international tournament was the year a certain Eric Cantona was born. And Cantona retired 23 years ago…
