Excellent video. So glad to see people working on their dual knife/pistol combo skills. Depending on the specific knife in question, I have found it easier to shoot two-handed by holding the blade parallel to the pistol grip, like it was shown in the video with both the knife and the gun in the same right hand, EXCEPT holding the blade about the same way using the off-hand. This method still allows the gun to be well-supported with the off-hand, but the knife is still ready to go in the off-hand. Please keep up the good work, and I look forward to seeing the blade evolve to adapt to this dual-wielding paradigm.
The ammount of people who dont know you can have a knife in your checked bag on an airplane is pretty interesting. I always fly with a knife in my luggage, it is a non issue and completely allowed. Carry on or on your person? Absolutely not but checked bag - yes
Thank you.. We were scratching our heads with all the push back on having a knife in your pocket on the way to the airport.. we always do and as soon as we land its back in our pocket, in the airport.. Appreciate the support!
i carry a plastic push dagger, i don't mind losing it, it cost about 3cents to make, i can also use it for skinning game after initial incisions have been made with a real knife
I like the knife probably gonna get one with that said I’m not sure how comfy I feel drawing the gun with the knife still on my hand might be a bit risky for my other hand . I mean seem like it could work with practice but as a guy who has draw in a defense situation and now practice a lot the draw I feel maybe dropping the knife while drawing is my preference haha feel it might slow me down since I got now to keep in mind to clear the shirt under speed
That makes sense. The counter ambush courses taught are for those with a high level of competency during violent situations. This was a skill built into POI within SOF courses. The individuals are being taught how to go to foreign countries, blend in, and if something happens, deal with that situation. You drawing a pistol in a civilian, or even LEO, situation falls well below the intended skill set being described here. To address other points in your comment, there is no need to drop the knife to get to your pistol. You may feel less comfortable doing so but then again, the whole act of using a blade and or gun to save your life is not a comfortable skill period. You would adapt and adjust to what is required during the training if you went through it. Also, you need to clear your shirt to get to your pistol regardless of having a blade in your hand or not. The way jack draws the pistol isnt any faster or slower than his normal draw. This has been tested and the thing that slows down a draw is your attempt at trying to make it faster by limiting your movement. Train the skill until you cant get it wrong. A lot of people just overthink things. With that being said, it doesnt take away from the reasons for us placing the feature on this particular blade. Thanks for watching and the comment. -MDv
As stated above, there are a good amount of states that don’t allow you to carry a fixed blade concealed without a weapons license. Which most people don’t have or can get access to. And unless you are heavily involved in personal protection throughout your life, most people will not feel comfortable carrying a fixed blade. Especially women who wear tighter fitting clothing. Thanks for your question.

Do you guys ever plan on designing pikal/ edge in style fixed blades? I feel like you guys could do a good job on design. I appreciate the MDV1. Even though it's not pikal.
it’s really common knowledge that the benchmade axis lock patient ran out and every manufacturer jumped on it but what os less known is that the spyderco compression lock patent also ran out. the makers who are using it are making button lock variations of the design but it has other potential. in this situation it would be on the back of the knife and help to reduce some of the problems with having ot on the other side and it has the additional advantages of keeping your fingers out of the blade path when closing the knife.
@@cameronchicken8439 that is a great point. And unfortunately, unless you are working with the companies that own the patents or are willing to add a large amount of cost to the knife itself, using those kinds of locks are not cost effective.
