Great video. I like the format of your videos a bunch it is to the point you break down the sections well and you deliver it all without being a wild character like some youtubers. Keep being you!
Thank you. Before I started this channel I was frustrated by the lack of to the point reviews that show actual game footage that was relevant to a review. I try to avoid cut scenes, tell you what the game is about, how it feels to play and any outstanding elements to consider if you're thinking of buying. I'm glad you find them helpful. Cheers
I loved this game when it was released. I remember being impressed with the graphics and gameplay mechanics. Part of the problem with the older games is today's audience won't ever experience the innovations of the time. The ability to call in reinforcements or vehicles was amazing. It also introduced something called geomapping, which made certain textures appear 3d, but they were actually flat. Great review.
I remember playing this as a kid after it came out in 2005 and after seeing a military checkpoint had the idea of sticking some C4 to the hood of the Jeep I was driving, and then driving it at the checkpoint, and doing a last minute hop out…and blow the jeep. Games nowadays this is nothing, but back then, I had never played any game where something of the like was remotely possible. The fact that some game designer also had that idea and made that a “thing,” still just amazes me, and first opened my eyes to how game technology was evolving. The second game was fun too (bummed I could never get the Co-op to work… thanks EA), but “playground” will always be a classic.
Both Mercenaries games I wanted to play since the PS2 days and never did. I think I already own this one on Xbox. The bit about searching the objectives without more clues is definitely a con for me, I suck at that, always get lost in a lot of games, haha. But still, it sounds really cool, I guess I still want to play it after all.
Mercenaries looks good. I never played the original but I did play and enjoy Mercenaries 2 on PS3 back in the day. I thought it was a very fun game with many great ideas. Nice review. 👍
Check out a review for Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands via the link: th-cam.com/video/KHV__uxUB3s/w-d-xo.html
The first one had a more serious tone than the second
The second one wasn't as good from memory.

Nice review! I remember the original game was so good.
It hasn't aged as badly as I thought it would.

Oh man i completely forgot about this game! I loved it as a kid. Couldnt get over the building destruction physics
The second one had better destruction elements from memory but sadly I can't get hold of that on Xbox through backward compatibility.
@@PlayGames_PGtoo bad, I think the second Mercenaries game is even better.

It is a good game, takes a while to get into the flow of the game but once you do I think you'll like it.

Where can I play this without digging out my PS2?
It is available on Xbox digitally or via the disc if you have a Series X.
Use a PS2 emulator.
PCSX2 is a lot better now than it used to be.
@@VikingKong. I dug out my old PS2, still works. had to clean the laser.
This is like mgsv but good
Harsh! I think MGSV was influenced by this in many ways.
