1) you dont see couple on the road because most malaysian dont like to walk around. Its quite hot, so they choose places like the mall to date. 2) Go to bazaar around 4-6pm. Most stall will close around 7pm since after iftar, locals will also go to masjid to pray. 3) Some masjid will provide free iftar. Thats why u see those used plates. Once adhan, they all break fast together. Then they will pray maghrib. 4) After maghrib/ taraweeh, some masjid will also give out free food. Dont be shy just be quick and grab those food like the locals.

Ramadan bazaar is the best! and yes it starts before Iftar, so everyone can buy and bring home to break fast together. We also have many restaurants that will offer ramadan specials and most hotels will definitely do ramadan buffet during ramadan month. You can Google and see. Even non-Muslims also join in the fun. Normally what I observe in locals here, when they break fast, they will eat dates (kurma) first. You can buy from any of the supermarket. My fav is ajwa dates but we import many from Middle East. Glad to know that you are at ease here, hope you can bring your parents too and enjoy what Malaysia has to offer!

ramadan few years ago I did mosque iftar hopping.. I think I went to about 15 different masjid for iftar during the month.. you should try to do iftar in all major mosques in KL.. its free..
Al Amber Chinese Muslim Restaurant, Unit 14, Level 1, Nexus, 7, Jalan Kerinchi, Bangsar South, 59200 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur Halal Chinese food.. You should try..
Go to any masjid before maghrib, there will be free food for iftar. Then do maghrib prayer, isyak and even tarawikh if you want to. Many a times there will be more free food which sometimes you can take back home. Keep in the fridge. Can heat it up for sahoor at 5.00am. Alternatively, you can explore the various Ramadhan Bazaar. Be there around 4.00pm and buy all the food for your iftar. Can buy extra and keep in fridge and heat up for sahoor later. Some restaurants are even open at night right until before Subooh.
if you request to take away or we malaysian call it 'Tapaw" u need to say the word "ikat tepi" to the seller so they will not fully tied the plastic that contain the drinks, there's a space for you to insert the straw and drink easily.
Over here, you buy your food first at the bazaar before iftar....then break your fast as the bazaar closes at iftar. If you're lucky, the masjid may have iftar served as well. Then after tarawih, they may may have moreh served as well ie tea and sweets, kuih etc.
Buy a food in bazar for iftar...but buy another food and save for sahur....you dont go out time sahur only recook iftar food for sahur its more easy for you...
you guys are late to the bazaar, i want to see you guys enjoy the bazaar a little bit more as the bazaar in Malaysia is incredibly special in its own way. anyway, its fine. there is always next time ! happy ramadan

Usually for sahur & iftar, Malaysians eat their normal daily food. But there are some Ramadhan special like Bubur Lambuk, congee porridge usually given out in mosques, & Air Katira a sweet milk drink with kathira gum, basil seeds & malva nuts. For bazaar, you need to come before iftar to buy food, usually 4pm will start bazaar
Heres how we do it..go to bazaar first around 5-7pm and later buy what you want..eat a little..and pray maghrib first and you may eat on what you bought..at home or on the street and continue praying
30:05 The yellow set of sweets are called "Thong Yod" and "Foi Thong". They're made out of egg yolk. There are couple different variations of shapes of these sweets which are called differently, but mostly it's gonna be called "Thong" (gold in Thai) something. The fruit shape sweets are called "Look Shoob", made out of mung bean cooked with coconut milk and dip with jelly.

26:45 😅 If you're heading to the Ramadan bazaar, aim to arrive before 6:30 PM. After that, the food might be sold out, and the stalls could be closing up shop.
U guys should meet and company by local malaysiaan to explore malaysia tradition and food it can make your content more intersthing and your experince and understand with our local food
In Malaysia, we go to bazaars to buy food around 5-7 pm (it's packed with people and hot). After 7 pm, bazaar only left with desert and will be close. Also, the restaurant will be packed too because people have already booked tables and ordered food. Maghrib starts around 7 pm; [condition 1] some people will eat a meal for 30-40 minutes, then go straight for maghrib, isyak, and taraweeh. [condition 2] some people will break fast with water and kurma, then go for maghrib. After maghrib, they will eat a meal, then proceed with isyak and taraweeh. Besides that, at Masjid, you can have Iftar with the locals; they serve free food and water on a plate. You just need to be at Masjid early before the azan. After that, pray.
I am American with Pakistani-born parents and I relate to you all a lot. In my class of 90 students at university, I have 2 other friends observing Ramadan with me- but we are in a diverse area and people are very respectful and aware aH. I have only experiences a week of Ramadan in Pakistan when it was in the summer and it was wonderful (but the fasts were harder with the hot weather)
You need to tell people you are tourist and muslim ..many wil then know how to help you.....because you look like local Chinese and so people expect you to already know......hope you get some guided help around Ramadan in KL....
11:30 that is not the way to do it, ask the shop to tie the drinks at the side "ikat tepi" so you can drink while you walk, At the Masjid you should pick up the free food that porridge is very nice! The Ramadan Bazaar is open daily from 4pm, and closed by 7:30 pm, you went there after it was closed, Pulut Manga is my favourite too.
Min 12:00, u supposed to tell the restaurant owner or cashier "ikat tepi" that drinks so that he can put the straw inside and tie the plastic one side with that rope.. IKAT TEPI means tie one side... anyway... hope u have enjoyed along ur vacation👍❣

My advice to both of u, if u went to mosque/ masjid, I advise u to come earlier 1 hr before the breaking fasting cos u can have free porridge when the the mosque giving free to avery jemaah mosque to eat at the time fasting break at 18.28hrs or 7.28 pm. Both of u also can have much time at the mosque after breaking yr fasting u can joint the Imam for solat with others jemaah. That normally regular routine during breaking fasting during ramadzan in Malaysia. If u can bring some spoon and Tuppperware together with u to easy 4 u eat yr porridge. Beside that if u like to breaking yr fasting at the restoran or food places at bazaar ramadzan please also come earlier 1 hr before the breaking yr fasting, this because u can have the table earlier, otherwise u breaking yr fasting eating with no places. Hope that u both enjoy with yr fasting meal with variety of delicious food in bazaar ramadzan as well as other places . The best for u to breaking fasting ramadzan, it better at the mosque as u have earlier visit today. After the prayer u can enjoy yrself around. Take care.. N enjoy the ramadzan fasting.
7:45 yes u guys should buy/rent a motorbike at least easy to go to "kedai" or "masjid" nearby ✌ 11:15 u are doing it wrongly "ikat mati" is for drink at home "ikat tepi" is for drink it now it's ok u guys will learn don't be shy to ask the locals they will help
these village that you mentioned are actually residential areas of the rich people, those seemingly abandoned land and unoccupied homes are very expensive property, in Malaysia we can owned lands forever and if it's owned by you no one can trespass not even the government unless you involved in some offenses
Hehe 😂😂 they are so cute and really sincere and genuine reaction, it make me laugh when she take out the straw and stab to the plastic drink 😂😂😂, for non local that is always happen because when you want to takeaway drink normally the seller will full tie the drink and local call (ikat mati = tie dead ) so it easy to bring home and not spill the drink, but if you guy wanna take away and drink while walking just asked to (ikat tepi = tie the edge) it more easier to carry and drink 😂😂 If you cannot picture what i mention just google ikat mati, ikat tepi ❤❤❤❤❤

Al Amber Chinese Muslim Restaurant, Unit 14, Level 1, Nexus, 7, Jalan Kerinchi, Bangsar South, 59200 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur
Halal Chinese food..
'Tapaw' is actually from the word '打包‘, so it's something they will understand readily.

Over here, you buy your food first at the bazaar before iftar....then break your fast as the bazaar closes at iftar. If you're lucky, the masjid may have iftar served as well.
Then after tarawih, they may may have moreh served as well ie tea and sweets, kuih etc.
Jangan lupa ke Jogja, Bali, Medan, Makasar dan kota kota lainnya di indonesia
Buy a food in bazar for iftar...but buy another food and save for sahur....you dont go out time sahur only recook iftar food for sahur its more easy for you...
