Your Dark Academia playlist has blessed many a car-ride home from Campus. To now find another original playlist is a delightful surprise. Thank you, my friend! As a time-traveler, I approve.
This is beautiful and the perfect accompaniment for my night writing, when I wind down, re-read the day's work, and perform quick edits. Thank you for the playlist.
Where and when? Hmmm…how long are these comments allowed to be? The short answer, everywhere and every time that I would be allowed. I would work may way back thru time like hitting the rewind button. Visit with artists, musicians, scientists, astronomers, pioneers, warriors, mathematicians, and philosophers. I would seek out experiences to learn and observe, both pleasure and pain, sorrow and joy, dark and light. I would sit with holy prophets and people of varying religions and then speak to those they persecute and put to death by sword and fire. I would sit with kings and queens and then the poor left with nothing in the streets. I would weave all of this together inside myself like a grand tapestry of the human experience…and then I would go all the way back. Back to the beginning, of all things. And I would take my place in the great ocean of the cosmos, reborn as a great light fueled by the binding of elements, as opposed to the separating and individualizing forces. Atomic fusion. A holy flame of the heavens. A star. And with that grand tapestry of human knowledge, emotion and experience, I would create new stars and worlds and watch the myriad of color and light paint the darkness in new forms and begin a new celestial song for future humans to tell tales of…

I recognize that the cello player isn't Vesislava. In an interesting way it makes me happy that Luke Faulkner rerecorded the songs. Wish they were on Spotify.
Very well spotted! I may well release them on Spotify too someday. Vesi plays beautifully but alas my piano sounded quite dire in those recordings (it was an out-of-tune upright opposed to the Steinway grand in these).
Dear@@LukeFaulkner thank you for your reply. I love both, but that old 'rickety' piano, I loved the harmonic overtones the out-of-tune gives you, in contrast to Vesi's beautiful, thick, fluid tone. I can't wait to get these on Spotify, and I hope to see you perform live in my neck of the woods soon. Thank you for your music, I am literally listening to it daily.
Hello Mr Faulkner It's definitely a beautiful combination of cello and piano 🥰 Thank you for delighting our ears with your compositions, especially: the Winter Wind, Elegie, Autumn Sonnet and the Music Box. I loved them 🥰
Something about the cello, its shape, all that beautiful mellow polished wood that gives it such resonance. The playlist contains everything that appeals to me, besides having some of my absolute favourites. The music is haunting, and melancholic and permeates the soul! It's thrilling to listen to Özgür Kaya and Mark Serkin's stunning reinterpretation. I haven't listened to Threnody in a while. It's reduced me into a sobbing mess 😭 because great music brings you to your knees and tears down all your barriers and then lifts you up on a ray of light as with the Music Box. Thank you so much Luke! I love this playlist very much. 🌹A fellow time traveller.
Beautifully put (as always), dear Ros! 🥰 I think there is something magical about the cello as you rightly say... it's why it's the only instrument I've attempted other than the piano (though not entirely successfully!)
All these songs in this 30 minute long playlist are your composition, Luke Faulkner. Sounds wonderful. Congratulation Luke Faulkner, Özgür Kaya and Mark Serkin !
Oh my, what a good, marvellous, idea !! 🥳🥳🥳Love that ! 😍😍😍 I'm sorry I'm very boring 🤭😇 : why Gates of Avar isn't in this - though beeeeeeaaauuutiful - playlist ?! 🥺 Anyway, very nice initiative, dear Luke (or should I say Poor Luke, because poor Luke, I've always got one more thing to say! 😅 please don't be angry with me 😇🤗🥰😘)
Aww - thank you, Manon and JT! In response to your question, Manon - the Gates of Avar EP was recorded with my humble upright piano at home whereas all these recordings used a Steinway grand so they work together better as a playlist 😉
Cello piano combo is undefeated
Agreed.
The best story teller of all time
It's the legendary Cipher! Hey buddy

@@LukeFaulkner ☺️ There is this wonderful 2009 movie called The Soloist which I came across recently. I highly recommend it if you haven't seen it.
