No doubt. She prayed. And God answered her prayers, and touched his heart.
The killer loved his own mother. And in his own childhood, she loved him. That was the deeply held cherished love that kept him alive, aware, inside. It connected his emotions for her to Paxton's situation, his mother's pleading, letters, and tears. God have mercy.

The thing that really strikes me is Jamie Paxton’s mother’s heart. Even after all the pain, unknowing, anguish - she had compassion on the man that murdered her son.
It seems she never lost her faith or became entangled in rage or bitterness. And after it all she was reaching out to the killer behind bars. That woman is the real deal when it comes to someone who lives out their faith. Wow. 🙏🏻❤️

@@Emy53 I do agree that God holds the ultimate ability to forgive - so even if we didn’t forgive someone, He knows that persons heart, and He can forgive them whether we do or not…but one thing I think about is what Jesus did say in Matthew Ch 6 verse 14, He said, “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” It definitely seems like although we may not agree with what someone did, or like it - He was asking us to relinquish that desire to not forgive. 19:38 ... In the 80s I worked briefly in the Evidence Technology Department of Los Angeles crime lab. I was working as a questioned documents examiner's assistant.
Any time a letter or document is typed, the typed letters are evidence themselves. Just as a rifled barrel has individual distinct markings allowing detectives to match a bullet to a gun, typewriters have distinct impressions for each letter. Some don't always fall on the same line (slightly above or below), they have microscopic "fingerprints" that identify the typewriter to the document.
Not only that, but from the typed letters they can tell what model of typewriter was used to type the letter.
All they need to do is find that typewriter! Needle in a haystack, right? Well, some brands of typewriters were only sold from certain stores. Some were mostly office typewriters that were too expensive for typical home use. These are clues that can help with the identification of the personality or at least potential working environments.
Was it electric or manual typewriter? Ball or keystroke? If the letters were typed at his office, they could use this, along with other personal identifiers (the personal profile) to narrow the search.
Just adding my two cents here.

@@Andrew-xv7mz My brother is a now-retired police detective/investigator. He had explained (decades ago) that there are two types of criminals: 99.9% are just dumb and 0.01% who are highly cunning.
The dumb crooks are not reading the comments under a video to learn about trade secrets that get them caught.
The smart ones already know all this stuff.
When I was at university learning how to be an Evidence Technician one of the students in year three (of four) was found to be a cousin of a high-ranking Bloods gang leader. He enrolled in the classes to learn what the latest criminalistics methods were and therefore how to avoid leaving latent evidence.
He was caught because our instructor happened to be a retired Sheriff who still had connections to police databases. After a little "digging", the relationship between the wanted gang leader and this student was found.
My point being the smart ones know how to get this information. The dumb ones (as we have seen in videos) are SO dumb they record their crimes as they commit them and post them online.
Dumb crooks will never get tipped off by a TH-cam comment. The smart ones will already know this information.
Considering there was a movie (forget the name) where typewriter indentations were used to catch the crook, if Hollywood knows about it, so do a good amount of criminals.
I'm not leaving any information in my comment that will aid a crook. They either already know this, or are too dumb to sit and read lengthy comments under TH-cam videos.
      We're good.
The comment above mentions using clip-outs from magazines to avoid the typewriter impression evidence. That practice has been used since the 1950s. Smart crooks have known about this for over half a century. Dumb ones will leave a ransom note using the back of their old pay stub receipt, handwritten and fingerprints all over the note.

Kyle, you have quickly become one of my favorite True Crime content creators here on TH-cam!
I found you through MrBallen a few weeks ago. The way you speak on these horrible cases is very telling about how authentic you are, spreading the information that we don’t often hear about and I feel deeply for the victims and their family members!
Even your sponsorships are done in a way that is very genuine and doesn’t make me feel like you’re taking away from the victims you speak about. I love your intro’s you’re absolutely so different from a lot of true crime content creators in the best way possible!
I have never heard of this case. It was a lot of emotions and how you Segway into your sponsorships does give us a moment to take a breath.
What an awful human! The fact that Jean never gave up on finding her son Jamie’s killer and would write letters to the newspaper moved my heart, it was so sad hearing but she was absolutely a huge part in finding him! When you spoke about her talking to him in prison that says so much about her as a mother and person.
I’m so sad for all his victims and their families! Please keep being you! You’re an amazing person!

I don't believe he was capable of real remorse, he was just a psychopath. But I do think Jamie's mother managed to humanize his victim enough that he started to see him as a person and not just as a prop. For psychopaths, other people are just soulless backdrop of their own reality. It's quite a feat to convince them that another person has a full life and personality and to care about that.

    • @davinasquirrel7672
      @davinasquirrel7672 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +19

Not sure that is the reason, because they already recognise 'humans' and know what they are doing is wrong. They just don't care. It is probably more along the lines that it was image control (they like to control the narrative) and perhaps her letters made him think he would be perceived as 'a bad guy'. Their image and how they are perceived is all that matters to them. He had already achieved one of his goals, serial killer status. Doubtless he had a secondary mission to get a massive body count and become more famous. Basically, despite what they project, they are somewhat insecure, in that they need the external validation of it all, even if they don't realise it and tell themselves otherwise. All psychopaths are narcissists.

@@thing_under_the_stairs I will bet the farm he had zero remorse during that letter writing period (clue: he went on to kill more). But instead, he got a power trip out of reading the letters (first power trip, the killing, second power trip, making others sad). And it was evident early on how young the first victim was (and again, he continued killing).
Anyone that falls for his lie that he felt remorse is mistaken. They only feel remorse when something negatively impacts their projection of self. It was that mother's continued letter writing that garnered sympathy for her, and contempt for him.

I’m more the TC lover & that’s how I found you. You are unique bc you have a passion for the wilderness not so much the mur* er. I love how you aren’t trying to freak ppl out as much as defend the trails with caution. I love how you support search & rescue (I trained a rescue bloodhound) they are such unsung heros.
For a guy whom started off doing gear reviews you really tell a story well. You’ve improved immensely, I mean that in the kindest way. Your writing is only getting better, and you set up the story like Mr. Ballin which is not easy to do. I feel like many give away the plot in the first minute, but you always leave me wanting more. That’s the sign of an excellent entertainer.
I can’t explain it but you’ve found your groove, you never shame the guy or girl that went into the woods under prepared. If find that so refreshing bc many would lean on the mean…especially with the amount of experience you have. Very Mike Rowe of you.
I knew you’d blow up, and you’re already 500k! You have probably prevented people from getting lost, so you’re saving lives Kyle!

There's a horror story from Alaska that took place in 1979 in Anchorage. A man would drug women, then take them out to the wilderness naked and tell them to run. He then chased them down and shot them. I believe he also used a bow. Last I heard he was still in a psych jail in Fairbanks. He was finally caught when one victim who was chained to a beam in his home managed to escape. He was a baker in a bakery in Anchorage. Many women were victims. There was a movie made about it with Nicolas Cage.

If you want to replace your electrolytes at home, without spending any money, without added sugars and with the best quality, just SPRINKLE some salt in your water. Salt has three crucial electrolytes and the water doesn’t taste any different, just like normal water. Thank me later.

Here is my advice and it's from a life-time experience with my own brother. Once you are sure the person is mentally sick and psychopathic and narcissistic, leave the person and never NEVER EVER come back to them. DO NOT GIVE THEM SECOND CHANCE. They will seize this opportunity and will see it as your weak point, they will act "normal", but eventually their psychopathic hateful side will come out again .. i gave several chances, until i have came to conclusion that it is better to just cut all contacts and just accept that that person is gone. For your own sake and for everybody else around you, you will be suffering and that' exactly what psychopaths want to see, they want to play with your emotions and feel like they have power over you, do not let them into your life again.

As someone who throughly enjoys hunting, fishing, and hiking, this is literally one of my worst nightmares. I feel so at peace in the woods and on the water, and the thought of myself being the actual prey is terrifying...
I truly commend Mrs. Paxton, what a remarkable and perseverant women. I'm so sorry she lost her son, but we're all just a little bit safer in the outdoors bc of her 💜

Serial killers are the worst. The victims have done NOTHING to have their lives cut short. Who knows how many lives Jamie's mom saved because of her persistance in her letter writing. She made her son human to the killer. My heart goes out to the victims and their loved ones.

    Rest in paradise
    Donald
    Jamie
    Kevin
    Hawkins
    Larry {survivor}
And maybe many more that are still cold today. This man was a serial killer mainly called the human hunter, the letter that he made was mundane at best, us people of fans of true crime know that serial killers can be your mother... Your friend... A stranger with a picture perfect image but is a cold hearted killer.
This case doesn't get spoken enough so thank you Kyle for keeping their names alive.
They were grandfathers, fathers, friends, brothers, cousins....lights being snuffed out way too early in life. My condolences go to every single person connected to them because loosing someone so close like that is devastating beyond belief especially from the hands of a human hunter.
