The person I was with made me ride this even though I didnt want to and then when we were waiting at the top they looked over at me and said,"maybe this was a bad idea."
I was on this ride 10 years ago. I remember being at the very top of the tower... waiting for it to drop. The anticipation is really terrifying... and it was windy and I could feel the tower was swaying back & forth. That was more terrifying than the drop itself.
The anticipation 100% is what makes drop towers so freaky haha This summer I've been to drop towers at Kings Island, Hersheypark, and Six Flags Great America...they all had in common was that the anxiety up at the top knowing that the thing could fall at any second was way scarier than the actual drop haha
This ride is nothing compared to Disneyland's Guardians of the galaxy. That thing shoots you up at high speed then drops you back to where you started, then drops you in a hole, then shoots you up again and drops you back down. None of it is slow, and it throws you up six times with random stops and drops. Mostly in the dark.
This is the same ride that broke down when my cousin was on it, it got stuck at the top for 15 minutes and out of nowhere it just dropped without anyone knowing, They all thought they was falling to their deaths because the ride broke
Apparently the brakes are magnetic so they're always working 24/7 so people don't die. But OMG that sounds like the most terrifying drop experience anyone could have! Glad they're ok
I went to King's Island many times one summer, and it took me a long time to find the courage to ride this one. But the day I did, my stomach was all in knots. About a third of the way up, I was freaking out that maybe I made a mistake. Then it just kept going up. By the time we were at the top, my heart was pounding more fiercely than it ever had before. You don't really understand how high it is until you are actually on it. That drop...it was more exhilarating than any of the other rides I had been on. Terrifying as it was, I immediately wanted to ride it again. I did. Lol, it was more terrifying the second time because I knew what to expect.
It's the one drop tower that gets everything right. Great view, great thrills, and to my knowledge a fantastic safety record. I try to always start a Kings Island trip with Drop Zone
REVIEW: Personally this ride was epic. You slowly rise to the top and get an incredible view like the Eiffel tower. Rate 7/10 scary because as soon as that drop hits, s### goes down. Weightlessness and the full experience for 4-5 seconds. When I went on it, the straps felt insecure but at least they were to protect you, right? If you're afraid of heights, or afraid of brake failure, this shouldn't be on your list xP
@@_3y did you not hear about it? It happened two days ago on this exact same one, he fell right out of his seat while way up in the sky and fell to his death, the ride is now closed

I got on this ride with my sister maybe in 2005-2006. I was terrified when I realized how high we were and closed my eyes. She told me to open them right before it dropped and I thought my eyeballs were about to pop out but I enjoyed it. RIP TEE❤
totally agree with you fast roller coasters, gives me double vision after the ride, because the world is passing around me like a mad fast forwarding photo slide show 😆 even though i went to ride drop tower only once about 1 year ago as it dropped i screamed automatically and when it ended i was smiling ear to ear was one of the best rides in my life
It was my 2nd ride that I went to that day and the banshee was way less scarier than that. the banshee is probably the least scariest ride there in my opinion (other than the carisall and scrambler)
Every time i go to Kings Island, I always ride the hell out of this ride. The negative G forces feel the strongest out of all of them, ( falcons fury, zumajarro drop at great adventure and the one at magic mountain) In my opinion. it tickles the tummy so hard when it drops. lol
About 20 years ago I went on that ride when it was new and it got stuck at the top for around 20-30 minutes and they were finally able to let us down real slowly and when we got down the big wigs where out there handing out free admission tickets and drinks and all kinds of free stuff. Talk about nerve racking.
This was the first ride I rode at kings island and I didn’t see it come down before and my cousin was like it’s ok it slowly comes down it’s just so u can see the park and I was like cool...do I want on it and at the top literally 1 second before we dropped she was like oh and by the was this drops I was like SHIT 😂
Yeah I can easily see how that could happen. The waiting line wraps around under a canopy and you cannot see upward at all until you're walking up to your seat. It's nerve wracking waiting to fall, but the view is spectacular up top! Exhilarating!
I agree i was crying my sister was like close your eyes when i opened my eyes bc i thought the ride broke down i dropped and i was getting lifted up in the air
I rode a ride exactly like this in Dubai. When it was ascending I was like “oh cool!” ...and then as it got higher and higher I was like.....I’m gonna die....and then it reached to the tippity top and I thought oh man, now I’m really gonna die....and without warning it just dropped and I felt like my stomach was going to explode! The free fall was only about maybe 6-7 seconds? But it felt like I was screaming my lungs out for minutes!
I am an amateur physicist and I propose an interesting experiment for Turbo Drop. When boarding the amusement ride, take with you a smartphone prepared for filming, a 200 ml transparent plastic cup with 5/4 of the total volume filled with water. Also take a properly unpacked effervescent tablet. Before the tower begins the falling process, add the effervescent tablet to the water and start filming. At the moment of free fall, the gas bubbles leaving the tablet must stop rising and most of them will remain involved in the tablet.
The first time I went to kings island I rode this and it scared the shit out of me. I never rode it again until 7 years later when I finally had enough courage to get back on it. Needless to say I rode it 5 more times that day and I will ride it again my next trip there.

I always go on this ride first when I go to Kings Island. I immediately regret it soon after. It's all fun and games until you get close to the top.
I imagine the people kicking there legs and holding the seat are nervous?
Are you still gonna ride this after what happened to that kid?
on the drop you just feel like your stomach is going to come out of your butt
Abbi Womble 😂😂never thought of it that way, but yeah xD

No, out of your mouth

The people kicking their legs are the ones scared, freaking out and obviously new. I know because I do that. Lmao.
ikr!! it calms me down 😂

LAD Fan they prob. Do that because they are a bit bored
After you hear the small click when you stop at the top (which is sometimes hard to hear) start counting to 7. You drop exactly on the 7.

it all depends on the ride operator. they can keep you up there as long as they want until they press that release button

When I heard it the first time I was like holy sh**

King's Island drop tower is one of the very few ride that *truely* drove a legit fear in me. I still remember the ride, 10 years later.
When i rode this and got to the top i screamed "pull the lever Krunk!" And when we dropped i screamed "wrong lever"
Makenzie McDaniel why do we even have that lever
