小錦は1963年12月31日米国ハワイ州オアフ島生まれの元大相撲力士。外国人力士として初の大関として活躍した。幕内での優勝回数は３回。
引退後は、タレント、アーティストとして講演活動やＣＭ出演、ハワイアン・ライブ等を精力的に行っている。ＮＨＫ子供番組【にほんごであそぼ】には12年間出演している（現在も出演中）。ハワイアンシンガーとしてもアルバムを多数発売。
ボランティア活動にも積極的に取り組んでおり、2011年の東日本大震災後は、何度も足を運び、炊き出しやライブ等を行っている。現在もチャリティー・ライブやイベントを開催し、東北の為の資金作りを続けている。
2014年1月、ミュージカル「愛の唄を歌おう」に出演。

A very powerful, and punishing Ozeki in his prime. Paved the way for other foreigners to follow. You’re contributions to Sumo and to fans from the Western Hemisphere are second to none.
I wasn’t able to watch you as a fan during the time you wrestled, but I’ve watched dozens, possibly 100’s of clips from your career.

Hakuho is the perfect all rounder in sumo. You can't say he haven't had great competition. I doubt either him of Harumafuji would take more than a minute to beat Konishiki. Yes, Kisenosato had the necessary skill to become on par with Hakuho, but unfortunetely that wasn't the case.
he is talking non sense. actually he was just meat ball he was not wrestler. mongolia is the real wrestlers mother land. hakuho is the legend of sumo.

His thrusting technique was good like he said great rhythm with follow up that was not easy to do against more agile opponents and there is one video about chiyonofuji with English caption just after he retired describe how he almost lost consciousness by konishiki slaps. He might be a meat ball later in his career but no doubt still one of the best ozeki in his prime as well
First, Chiyonofuji was 130kg at most, less than half Konishiki's weight. Secondly, he was Far too slow; both Hakuho and Harumafuji would beat him in seconds.
