I don’t have a word other than “self-sabotage” for knowingly rejecting a person who remembered your birthday and took some of their time and effort to do something sweet for you over someone who totally forgot, then promptly tried to highjack/take advantage of someone else’s gift for you and was flippant about it to boot.
I'm kind of surprised how many people missed the fact that Zack said he was scared of being judged and rejected by people's families (since he had been in the past) and Bliss saying that her dad probably wouldn't approve of him (because he doesn't approve of anyone). Later Zack confirms that was what made him hesitant about her but I just thought that was obvious from the first episode batch.
Tiffany is one of my cousins best friend and they take friend-group naps together when they hang out. So Tiffany sleeping in the pods is very on brand for her 😂

She said that she broke down because she was thinking about her father back home who was battling cancer at the time. And she felt guilty to be on a vacation, having a nice time, while her parents were home going through something so difficult. She usually spends her weekends helping out her parents any way she can and she knows they rely on her. Not sure how her father and the family is doing currently, but I hope they're okay.
Tiffany falling asleep actually touched my heart. When I started dating my now fiance, I was living in a very stressful home. When I would go to his place I would often get very tired and fall asleep because that is where my body and mind felt the safest! Wouldn't surprise me if she felt more comfortable in her pod with someone she was falling in love with than in her dorm!

I haven't seen anyone mention this but, why is it that all the women seemed to hate Zack?? He might be awkward and dorky but I definitely didn't think he was the worst guy in the show and he even seems like a genuinely nice guy, but it seems like they all had something negative to say which was kind of sad to see. Zack choosing Irina actually makes sense with his background/job. I think he ran from Bliss when she told him that her dad was hard to impress. He settled for Irina because dysfunction feels safer/like a project for him. He's a criminal defense lawyer, he's used to saving people/fixing people and I think that's why he kept saying he trusted Irina more. If you grew up in dysfunction and haven't full sorted/healed from it, someone blatantly messed up like Irina could come across as more real/safe/comfortable. The flaws
Honestly for the previous seasons, I just kinda watched and didn't get involved online too much, just here and there where I was curious. But THIS ish... Immediately after finishing these 5 episodes I was all over the place trying to make sure everyone else saw what I saw. These MEAN GIRLS, dude! Downright cruel, I swear they're completely sadistic. I feel so validated knowing everyone else thought the same, lol. I cracked up at frick & frack 😂😂 I feel like Zach was scared away from Bliss as soon as she mentioned her family, he didn't want to fight for approval and they would make Bliss more of a risk. I'm on the edge of my seat to see how the rest of this plays out. I really like how real Chelsea and Marshall are, I just want the best for them but I gotta say I'm currently concerned. 👀

Great commentary! I feel like whenever someone on these shows says something like "the thing I really like about you is how much you like me". I think "oh no". Nope, I wouldn't want to hear that. I think maybe Bliss triggered Zach by saying her family wouldn't think anyone is good enough for her (it seems like that scenario was pretty scary to him) AND it seemed like he wanted to protect Irena and felt judged when Bliss said she wasn't a good person. I guess he would have felt his Mom got judged unfairly for being a bad person all throughout his childhood. omg thank you for telling me who Chelsea looks like, it's been driving me nuts how familiar she looked. more than one resemblance to celebrities this season -- Micah as you mentioned, Marshall and Will Smith, Zack and the Property Brothers, etc etc. I notice this a lot in reality tv. I'd guess it's somewhat incidental but helps people get noticed/remembered during casting.
I also don’t like other reality TV shows and for me it’s the psychology. There is absolutely no questions and no analysis when it comes to the people on shows like Love Island and whatever the others are called. I am such a huge fan of this specific concept and the *different* reasons people go on this show. I think it’s super interesting to see how they interact once they all meet irl and also seeing all their relationship flaws that they do or don’t notice themselves. Love it! I do wish more of them talked about how attraction isn’t just personality or just appearance, attraction is literally its own thing as well and they want to pretend it’s not - because they don’t want to seem shallow but as someone who find Zack beautiful I can totally understand not wanting to be touched by someone despite that? Like, I definitely don’t want to be touched by every pretty person I’ve met?
I relate to your views on reality dating shows. I think once the “game show” aspect pops in I lose genuine interest. I had the same reaction to irina being attracted to Paul but not Zack because they do fit the same type- considering physically they are both my type ironically I found Zack more interesting. Micah and irina competing would be epic if Paul gets with irina in gonna dye laughing and saying Gretchen won. I cannot the bitch duo they are frick and frack.
This show is so tough on the cast! Like asking people to make an emotional connection then a physical one then a figuring out if you are life partner material is a lot to ask of anyone. But I think the pod episodes are my favorite because it does build an emotional connection first.
I'm from Seattle and have friends who know a lot of the cast, so IDK about Seattle men being "sensitive" cause dating here is hard 😂 Every guy is usually just obsessed with their tech or finance bro job and the cast gives me the same vibes I see often when I'm out and trying to meet people here. Without naming names, I will say I wish we got to see other members this season (who unfortunately did leave without matches) because I think there would have been tamer people to watch. However I love mess and it's local mess so it's even juicier this season for me 😂 Great recap!
Just commenting while watching your video. Lol. To Jacky’s breakdown; by the way she talks about things, I personally got the impression that she comes from a very low income household/area. Her family also seems to heavily rely on her in “the real world” and that her “usual” relationships seem very drama filled, immature and superficial. Her breakdown seem to me to stem from the realisation that this whole vacation (and gentle man who seems to genuinely like her ) is so far removed from her real life that this just (in her mind) CANT work out. She, however, seem to slowly fall for Marshall.
Zack's case is quite strange. He said that irina just wanted to be with him to win him over Bliss, just to "get the man", showing us he was aware of the bad character of irina and that he was aware of it, and yet he picks irina..... he is not that bright but this goes way beyond any minimal level of intelligence. How can that guy even find a job? Irina and Micah are in the show just for exposure because they have zero intentions of getting married. They are there just to get famous and they are following the Omarosa-route of becoming infamous and making a career out of it. Jackie is just a bad person overall, and I agree with you that she would be a villain in any other season.
Zack cried a moan of I am not worthy of you when he turned Bliss down. The viewer could feel his insecurity in that moment. He was worried her family would reject him. He thought he was safer with Irina who had a similar type of background growing up and thought she would be tough and back him up if he ever needed back up. He may have thought she wasn't that great looking since she said she struggled with acne. He picked poorly but you can tell it was a very tough decision and made the wrong one. I don't know why people want to hold that against him and not want him and Bliss to succeed. He acknowledged that Bliss deserved to be with someone who would pick her. He knows he will have to do a lot of work to get Bliss back. One bad decision after only knowing the women for 10 days shouldn't make him irredeemable. I thought he handled himself very well and much better than most guys when Irina's reaction to him. He tried to see if it would work and showed patience and then was open and forward with communicating and asked if she was into keep trying while she acted like a kid trying to hide from her parents in the pillows. Then was open and called it over. He didn't get angry or act disrespectful or call her names.
Zach and Paul definitely seem similar in personality type and surface features (nerdy, dark curly hair and scruffy face) but in terms of their actual faces and builds they are almost cartoonishly kind of opposites, Zach has lanky long features and wide eyes and Paul has a very wide sort of round face with softer eyes to me.
Am I the only one that actually sees a lot of issues with Jacquelina? I think she might have a lot of issues she hasn’t worked through, which can end up affecting other people. She seems highly emotionally reactive to things, and she also has shown to have a little bit of mean girl behaviour in being very gossipy and just speaking poorly about people. I also get the sense she may show herself to be very controlling in relationships, and even disrespectful to her man. I’ll be looking out for that for sure, I think it’s likely she will be selfish and inconsiderate, as well as potentially emotionally abusive (likely without realizing her behaviour is wrong).

Always on these shows it’s always “I love you coz you love me” or “I love the way you make me feel good about myself” and other things along these lines and it’s like - so you’re picking me for your selfish reasons as opposed to coz you actually like me. I hope I never hear it too. I really like Chelsea - even the way she spoke to the mean girls like why don’t you just be nice then etc and it seems she’s so into Kwame so I hope he sees the gem he has soon and doesn’t push her away for the chance to be with Micah. And what you said about Zach being too intimidated by Bliss and chose irena coz she was more secure and forthright with fighting for him was exactly what I saw too. If I was Bliss I wouldn’t say yes to his proposal now, not after you already picked her. But maybe there needs to be wiggle room coz you don’t see everything? You only see the best version of themselves, not how they interact with others. Idk. But yeah spot on I agree with everything you said

Micah was probably acting out of this love hunger games mentality when leaning in on Paul, having said that. Her treatment of amber was awful. And irina always adds flames. She keeps pushing it, and Paul is way to comfortable being flirty with irina. This is bad.
Chelsea was so desperate for kwame. That’s concerning. And I think he went for her because he felt rejected by micah, and Chelsea was just bigging him up.

I personally think Cole was portrayed as a "rude person" when really I think he was the victim. Zanab did seem to put words in his mouth and was 1000% the rude one in the relationship. 🙄
I do think Micah was a villain in the pods, but once they got to the honeymoon, irina became the clear villain of the season with how she treated Zach, tried to steal Paul, etc

When Micah and Kwame were very physical after their confrontation at the pool- it really made me itch. Them holding hands, when she put her head on his thigh- and talking about how much they were in love and bonded was so disrespectful to their partners.

omg thank you for telling me who Chelsea looks like, it's been driving me nuts how familiar she looked. more than one resemblance to celebrities this season -- Micah as you mentioned, Marshall and Will Smith, Zack and the Property Brothers, etc etc. I notice this a lot in reality tv. I'd guess it's somewhat incidental but helps people get noticed/remembered during casting.

I also don’t like other reality TV shows and for me it’s the psychology. There is absolutely no questions and no analysis when it comes to the people on shows like Love Island and whatever the others are called. I am such a huge fan of this specific concept and the *different* reasons people go on this show. I think it’s super interesting to see how they interact once they all meet irl and also seeing all their relationship flaws that they do or don’t notice themselves. Love it! I do wish more of them talked about how attraction isn’t just personality or just appearance, attraction is literally its own thing as well and they want to pretend it’s not - because they don’t want to seem shallow but as someone who find Zack beautiful I can totally understand not wanting to be touched by someone despite that? Like, I definitely don’t want to be touched by every pretty person I’ve met?
I relate to your views on reality dating shows. I think once the “game show” aspect pops in I lose genuine interest. Don’t get me wrong, I’m here for the mess and they’re something brainless and nice to watch when there’s nothing else to watch or as background noise, but I don’t take them seriously lol

I had the same reaction to irina being attracted to Paul but not Zack because they do fit the same type- considering physically they are both my type ironically I found Zack more interesting. Micah and irina competing would be epic if Paul gets with irina in gonna dye laughing and saying Gretchen won. I cannot the bitch duo they are frick and frack.
This show is so tough on the cast! Like asking people to make an emotional connection then a physical one then a figuring out if you are life partner material is a lot to ask of anyone. But I think the pod episodes are my favorite because it does build an emotional connection first.

I'm from Seattle and have friends who know a lot of the cast, so IDK about Seattle men being "sensitive" cause dating here is hard 😂 Every guy is usually just obsessed with their tech or finance bro job and the cast gives me the same vibes I see often when I'm out and trying to meet people here. Without naming names, I will say I wish we got to see other members this season (who unfortunately did leave without matches) because I think there would have been tamer people to watch. However I love mess and it's local mess so it's even juicier this season for me 😂 Great recap!

To Jacky’s breakdown; by the way she talks about things, I personally got the impression that she comes from a very low income household/area. Her family also seems to heavily rely on her in “the real world” and that her “usual” relationships seem very drama filled, immature and superficial. Her breakdown seem to me to stem from the realisation that this whole vacation (and gentle man who seems to genuinely like her ) is so far removed from her real life that this just (in her mind) CANT work out. She, however, seem to slowly fall for Marshall.

Zack's case is quite strange. He said that irina just wanted to be with him to win him over Bliss, just to "get the man", showing us he was aware of the bad character of irina and that he was aware of it, and yet he picks irina..... he is not that bright but this goes way beyond any minimal level of intelligence. How can that guy even find a job?
Irina and Micah are in the show just for exposure because they have zero intentions of getting married. They are there just to get famous and they are following the Omarosa-route of becoming infamous and making a career out of it.
Jackie is just a bad person overall, and I agree with you that she would be a villain in any other season.
Zack cried a moan of I am not worthy of you when he turned Bliss down. The viewer could feel his insecurity in that moment.
He was worried her family would reject him. He thought he was safer with Irina who had a similar type of background growing up and thought she would be tough and back him up if he ever needed back up. He may have thought she wasn't that great looking since she said she struggled with acne. He picked poorly but you can tell it was a very tough decision and made the wrong one. I don't know why people want to hold that against him and not want him and Bliss to succeed. He acknowledged that Bliss deserved to be with someone who would pick her. He knows he will have to do a lot of work to get Bliss back. One bad decision after only knowing the women for 10 days shouldn't make him irredeemable.
I thought he handled himself very well and much better than most guys when Irina's reaction to him. He tried to see if it would work and showed patience and then was open and forward with communicating and asked if she was into keep trying while she acted like a kid trying to hide from her parents in the pillows. Then was open and called it over. He didn't get angry or act disrespectful or call her names.
At least I don’t find any mean girls vibes like Zanab and Alexa in previous season lol

Zach and Paul definitely seem similar in personality type and surface features (nerdy, dark curly hair and scruffy face) but in terms of their actual faces and builds they are almost cartoonishly kind of opposites, Zach has lanky long features and wide eyes and Paul has a very wide sort of round face with softer eyes to me.
The movie you are hoping for is basically Honor Society with Gaten Matarazzo 😂 it was a decent movie/twist.
I had the same reaction when Irena said paul was her type but not zach, like are they not the same person in different fonts 😭

I think she might have a lot of issues she hasn’t worked through, which can end up affecting other people. She seems highly emotionally reactive to things, and she also has shown to have a little bit of mean girl behaviour in being very gossipy and just speaking poorly about people. I also get the sense she may show herself to be very controlling in relationships, and even disrespectful to her man. I’ll be looking out for that for sure, I think it’s likely she will be selfish and inconsiderate, as well as potentially emotionally abusive (likely without realizing her behaviour is wrong).
