I took a small folk guitar that had painted silver (nWo 2000) to a local indy show featuring Jeff Jarrett in hopes that he would sign it. He did me one better, he grabbed it from my starstruck kid self, smashed Chase Stevens over the head with it, signed the biggest piece and had every wrestler on the card sign it as well! Double J will always be my hero and favorite wrestler. I used to flip between Nitro and Raw just to see Double J on Raw and kept hoping he would jump to WCW. The guitar in this video is the one used the night he did just that, he dropped the IC belt to Chyna on Sunday and the next night after Buff Bagwell reluctantly jobbed to La Parka and took a shot at Russo and the writers, The Chosen One Jarrett ran out and shocked the Nitro audience by hitting Bagwell with the guitar. Wonderful memories!
1:19 how great to see the Sportatorium sign!
Wow! What a sweet video! Wrestling! Every Saturday when I was a kid they had late night wrestling! I never missed a Saturday night match!
This is literally the coolest museum ever! I’d love to go there eventually. I’m actually a pro wrestler myself so this is like a goldmine!
Back in the mid 80s me and my dad were at the Cincinnati coliseum watching wrestling there was a beer booth on the main floor just maybe 75 feet from the ring . I still remember Brutus Beefcake knocking down a popcorn size cup of beer just minutes before he went into the ring .
What an incredible place. Thank you for visiting, I've wanted to see this video for a long time!
Baggerism of da day... " Now... this is a Quilt I can get behind.. a Pro.. Wrestling.. Quilt..."
WOW This is amazing. Love all the wrestling clothes and outfits, especially that of Chyna. I was blessed to meet her 3 times and was even treat to a lunch with her 2 months before she passed. Awesome video Jacob.
She's what got me pay attention to wrestling, when I saw her first come out my jaw hit the floor, I was so excited! I'm still obsessed.
I am totally in agreement with your love of the fantastic days of Saturday Night's Main Event!
Oh man, You have caught 2 passions of mine, Video Games (The hall of Fame) And Wrestling in this vid. King Carpet!
Hey Carp, It’s good to see you getting into the wrestling gig and making friends in that spectrum. Super fun! Gotta love life man and I’m glad you’re sharing it with all of us!
This was great. I grew up watching with my Dad. I love the Von Erichs. My Mom loved Carey the Texas tornado. Excellent video Sir. So many great memories for me. Have a blessed day and safe travels
Kerry Von Erich
was The Texas Tornado. But in WCCW he was billed as Kerry Von Erich - The Modern Day Warrior.
I grew up watching a lot of these guys. My dad was a pro wrestler back in the 60's. He was Del Bennett "The Flying Kentuckian". Man the stories he used to tell me.
1:17...the Dallas Sportatorium...The Von Erichs, baby! 1:35, there it is, the prestigious NWA World Heavyweight Championship belt. 2:37, the Nasty Boys! Two action figures with the Sunglasses! 4:50, the Von Erichs had their own board game, BUT OF COURSE! 8:37, Papa Shango! It's a shame that Shango's run ended all because he messed up ONE spot. 9:29, RIP Doink. I agree 100 PERCENT, THIS IS A HALL OF FAME!
Mick Foley's first couple of books are hilarious. My jaw was aching after laughing so much. Chris Jericho's book was like that, too.
I am so glad you finally got to visit here. It's somewhere I would LOVE to visit, but sadly I live in the UK and can't get there, but seeing you go there has made my day
I was hoping to see more Macho Man props. He was always one of my favorites
mine too. My dad found a match sheet thing, you know where it shows the matches, that had him wrestling in my birth town. Paducah Kentucky in western Kentucky.
Theres a guy on here who has a bunch of Mach's gear
Very cool tour jacob. Thanks man.
WOW! That joint is insanely choice!! I GOTTA make a pilgrimage to this place asap! Late 70's and 80's wrestling was my jam. Somewhere there's a pic of me and Andre the Giant. I remember meeting George the Animal Steele as well. He was a very nice guy. Great vid Jacob!
That's two that spent A LOT of time in ths Detroit area.
Great video and thanks for sharing, brings back memories of the 70s and 80s when I loved watching wrestling
Sampson is my friend! I met him when my band played at the buffalo chip during sturgis bike week. He was really strong! He would sneak up under my legs and push his body weight up so i would be on his shoulders and he'd walk me around haha. We hung out alot and when i lost my voice that week, he brought me tea and hugs. I love and miss sampson! Such a rad dude!
Great Vlog, but it's RICK martel ;)
11:11. Jim martel? I think u mean Rick martel
Carpetbagger,
I have to say that this is in my ''Top-10'' picks as my favorite Video's from you..
I've watched almost all of your Video's and have also watched most of Adam the Woo's Video's and I do Thank-You for this one my friend..
You need to donate your chops in the ziploc bag to the museum!
I remember some of the wrestlers from my childhood... those were the best days of wrestling
You can hear the excitement in your voice. You really love wrestling 😊
New to this channel. Great vid as always. Wish i wouldve seen this on my birthday in 2019 when it first came out. I feel like it was made just for me lol
I saw Abdullah the butcher wrestle Sabu in XPW, Abdullah came out with a fork taped in his hand, it was a very bloody match.
There's another pro wrestling museum in Allentown, PA. free entry too
I was trying to see if I could see a picture of Tommy Wildfire Rich . I remember the Free Birds , Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant , Jim Duggan , Wrestling # 2 , Rowdy Roddy Piper , Ted Dibiase and so many more that wrestled back in the 70's and 80's. After that I kind of lost interested. It was still fun to go watch their wrestling matches in Athens And Winder Ga . I never went to the Omni in Atlanta to watch them , but I always wanted to . My mom was too strict and wouldn't let me go . Anyway thanks for sharing this with us Jacob !! I'd liked to see that in person someday myself.
I definitely want to see this! You should visit the Von Erichs grave site in Texas, while you're at it. Its in Dallas. They are all buried there, with the exception of Kevin.
I never new Pro Wrestling had a HOF . But then I was a big fan in the 70s and 80s when wrestling was real .
As Far as i know Several HOF's Southern wrestler HOF, PWI HOF, WWE HOF (online)
I was a huge fan of the Von Erichs Such a tragic family history.
It's a very sad story. Back then l never knew Texas Tornado was missing part of his leg.
Enjoyed replay thanks 😊
Impressive wrestling knowledge by the Carpetbagger.
Been planning a trip out to see the PWHF. Great video sir.
Huge fan of professional wrestling!! Undertaker is my favorite.
Probably the coolest thing I saw the Von Eric display. Vice totally did a great job on the documentary about the Von Eric curse. Very sad. There was no curse just a bunch of bad things happening to good people.
Someone finally made a vlog on this place, it's on my bucket list
I watch a lot of videos by carperbagger. I also like Jordan the Lion
Dang! I live in that town. Lots of cool places there.
Shockmaster, lololol. The best part about him falling is the others if you listen closely...
LoL then Sid Justice started screaming so loud that Shockmaster thought it was his Q so he started hand motions like it was him screaming. Lmao
Very interesting, Jacob
Bruno Sammartino, the greatest of all time
What a great place. Rick "The Model" Martel was fantastic.
Mick Foley is an absolute sweetheart I was able to meet him on May 9th and he has socko of course
Please come back there when the Undertaker gets in there. That would be awesome to see.
I thought the first wrestler with entrance music was Gorgeous George
He was first with the flashy entrance with the flowers and the flamboyant Heel bit-
I don't know if Gorgeous George was the first ever, but here's George using entrance music on Nov. 3rd 1950 - I don't know of any other wrestler using entrance music before that date, so I think you're right:
th-cam.com/video/fVpTpuWSU48/w-d-xo.html
Gorgeous George was one of the first with music. The Freebirds were a little late.
Actually Sgt. Slaughter is
I got to see Bob Backlund lift the iron sheik up to the top turn buckle with one arm 3 times in one match!! And seeing Ivan Putski up close was amazing! Got George the Animal's autograph! And saw Dusty as a replacement for a sick wrestler that drove the Springfield Mass civic center crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm in DFW now...but I lived in Wichita for 12 years...I knew when I saw the first frame of your video where you were....before you said a word...LOL.
Wrestling is awesome and so is this video man
A lot of my friends are down there for the inductions this week. The belts you are holding in your thumbnail were made by my former boss, Reggie Parks. Leilani Kai has been a friend of mine for quite some time.
I love this place so much. Maybe one I’ll be lucky enough to visit. I think me, my mum and my fiancée would have a great time there.
Bro this is awesome. You r so lucky.
It was Rick "the model" Martel not Jim.
I was going to mention that as well. How do you get that name wrong?
Considering the recent issues with the destruction at the hall of fame, you might have captured some of the last known footage of these items.
Dude! I always wanted to go there. The Hall of fame folks usually partner up with Primos Wrestling here in Colorado for events. Looks quite a place to see.
I've been there a couple times. Used to live in Iowa Park and Burkburnett Texas
Great video, Would love to go there and see all of the gear, Love the old action figures, especially the Abdullah the Butcher, love the Orndorff robe, Mr Wrestling #2 Mask and robe, in 47 now and been a die hard fan since I could crawl, quit being a fan around 2001, Today's stuff in unwatchable, My favorite is Flair of course but Nikita Koloff, Road Warriors, My favorite was the original NWA
Studio Wrestling, "Ringside Rosie" (Anna Bopp Buckalew), "Chilly Billy" (William Robert Cardille ), "The Living Legend" (Bruno Leopoldo Francesco Sammartino), Dominic DeNucci, George "The Animal" Steele (William James Myers), etc, Memories of watching on Saturdays with my dad.
My first wrestling memory was watching the Road Warriors took a spike from their shoulder pads and ran it across Dusty Rhodes forehead busting him open
Awesome Video
11:10 - Jim Martel? JIM?
Im an old school wrestling fan, Pat O'Conner, Wahoo McDaniels , Dick the Bruiser was my Fav!
Ahhh you're in my home town!! Would love to have met you.
Super cool memorabilia! Today's wrestling will never be what it was in the 80's/90's! Ya know why? 'Cause Stone Cold said so! lol.
Mankind was my favourite too. I liked the original version.
I saw the Ultimate Warrior vs. The Honkey tonk man for the IC title. And saw the Rockers win a battle royal as my first WWE live even in 89
Jimmy superfly snuuka, my all time favorite! He was soo cool.
my uncle met faubous moola my uncle said that faublous moola said to him, "feel my arm, feels like leather"
My Favortite Video of yours
Hey, Carpetbagger! I enjoy watching your escapades. I am traveling through Pittsburgh, PA. From Virginia. Any recommendations on great attractions, haunted places to stay or great things to do?
Hacksaw actually does a lot of conventions now and he actually signed little pieces of wood not quite 2 x 4 but he has little pieces of wood that he signs for people. Kind of a cool little thing he does a little bit differently than just a picture. I met him once and he is really cool. I actually never watched him wrestle but just ran into them in the hallway and he was a nice guy
The Shockmaster!!! Yeah! LMAO
Would love to visit this place it's one of the inspirations for my own "Mini-Museum" I actually own the other "Original Midnite Express" assuming there are only two.
Wwe often reuses there props and so they like to keep there stuff in the warehouse cause you never know when you need one of undertakers 100 caskets or a old king of the ring chair etc
My favorite two wrestlers in my lifetime George the Animal Steele and Roddy Piper . Hands Down .
I bet TheCarpetbagger wont heart this‼️
Cactus Jack was my favorite Out of all of his in wcw sing was and is my favorite of all time matches with Vader between all three was my childhood
My aunt used to date Hacksaw Jim Duggan back when they were younger!
YOURE IN MY HOMETOWN. WHAT.
Love this Vlog! Nice!
The original doink was very sinister. Most remember him as the goofy clown. Only the real ones remember the original Doink
I would love to see a Beverly Brothers cape.
Is that the leather Mankind shirt, WWE just uploaded a video yesterday and Mick Foley and WWE are trying to find out where it's at to buy it back
I watched the WWF during the so-called attitude era with stone cold and the rock along with a bunch of other popular characters. I stopped watching it probably in the early 2000’s Try to watch a little bit recently just to see what’s going on and there are a couple of decent guys but nothing like the old days for me. I love mankind as well one of your favorites as you mentioned. I remember watching him And the rock ina tagteam match live in Nashville
This vid its awsome cause I to am a huge fan .
IM SO UPSET THAT YOU WERE HERE AND I DIDNT GET TO MEET YOU. NOOOOO
When Elias has a guitar he regrets it(When Finn Balor is Around)
Hulk Hogan is my favorite wrestler of all times!
Its so odd to see things that should be in a case just out in the open lol and then there is a kid spot that allows the kids to still be around collectables with in reach....I would have an anxiety attack 😂😂😂
Did they have any Mr Perfect memoribillia there? Would love to know, thank you 😀
Mick Foley hated wearing that mankind mask he really did
Long live Mick Foley! Mankind is why I got into pro wrestling! The everyday man’s wrestler! 😝🤘👍 #HaveANiceDay 🙂
Sad that this is now also a history. Came from Jim's video.
When I was very young used to watch some lady wrestlers work out. Keep Safe❤Keep Well❤
Bang bang
Just a note that it's Rick Martel, not Jim.
Mick foley is my favourite wrestler too
Big fan from indonesia
