right this early? the shit these devs had to go through back then just to make something so simple. You even see it in some places that they just gave up trying to nwrapp the texture because it was SO damn hard 5:10. today unwrapping a cube takes me less than a second because it comes unwrapped lmao
@@TheGrassyou Yeah yet the game is still more fun and better at being a video game than the majority of big releases we get today. That they didn't have dev tools we take for granted today is part of what makes the quality so impressive.
The Nintendo 64 really helped a lot to show the potential of 3d graphics in videogames. Same with Valve's first installation of Half-Life

@@bariumselenided5152 it was, though other games back then were isometric view games, or had no dynamic cameras and have prerendered backgrounds. tank-like controls were also pretty popular back then.

We've captured a rare moment: a high resolution modern and authentic recreation of our first time with Mario64.
This was surprisingly wholesome. Also, who's gonna tell her there are multiple stars in each world

It takes some practice to master 3D Platformers. Heck I couldn't find the 120th star when I played this game on the Wii XD

I've never been down bad for a girl before, including this gremlin (who's arguably more degen than nyanners is sometimes) but the small uh..... noises, she was making when she was nervous or shocked, were the first times I've ever even considered it a little bit. I've never actually heard her do those before.

As someone who grew up playing platform games (especially Super Mario titles) seeing this video reminded me of a younger, naive, me. Nostalgia kicked in OH GOD

I somehow was expecting game to completely destroy her even though she's a skilled gamer.
And then wonder if she's bad at it because this gameplay isn't something she normally does or she's pretending to be because it's entertaining
The game is really not as easy as it looks or as I remembered, I went back and played it after like 10 years and got quite frustrated xD

If you can ignore by today's standards. It's unusual shape. the joystick was the worst part of it.
Nintendo systems were the stuff that I had.
so I actually had a weird time getting into the Sony DualShock controllers at first.
But now it would be weird going back to that crazy design XD
Having watched it live, I thought she was actually pretty good at it. She was just really rushing everywhere. Typical streamer anxiety. Can't waste time going carefully.

I think she should try an easier and more accessible Mario game. Something like Super Mario 3D World.

The chat was kind of mean to her. Some people were even saying she must be pretending to be bad at the game-- I don't know if they were joking or not. This is a HARD game to learn to play well, especially for someone who didn't grow up with games that had controls like this, or who hasn't been playing it for years. It's not as easy as the speedrunners make it look. She was getting better after the first few hours.
