OMG seeing the cast of Frasier playing themselves as Star Trek characters just made my night. I've never seen this before, but I know Star Trek well and Frasier is my favorite show ever so this is a special treat for me, lol
They put Archie Bunker's chair in the Smithsonian, I believe Martin's chair is much more famous and should be placed on display there as well. Good ole' 'dirt pile 1957'!!
I discovered this in 2024. Growing up, when my brother and I were in our pre-teens, whenever Frasier was on TV, we were GLUED to the screen. I got into Star Trek when JJ Abrams' film came out in 2009 and then ventured into the other Star Trek films and tv series. This skit made me spit out my coffee! LOVED IT!!!
Kate Mulgrew is actually a very relaxed seeming person. I saw a panel where she and the other Captains, Avery Brooks, William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, and Scott Bakula all appeared together and she was laughing and having a good time. Of course it didn't hurt that Shatner and Bakula are such goof-offs to begin with and Patrick just rolls with it.
@@TakaComics That would have been much better, especially after we learned more about what the person who shall not be named pulled off. Who knows, perhaps in the future through technology we can replace that person with a version of David Hyde Pierce from back when he was on Frasier.
@@BTechUnited Sadly several more guest actors on Voyager that we would rather forget about that they appeared on the series. Sometimes it is hard to separate the acting from the actor.
I think it's the quick pace that his character Niles typically speaks, easy to redo takes when you're filming the show, but a live performance at that speaking rate is tough for anyone.
"Now do you see why we shouldn't have pets on starships?" Yeah, will somebody please tell Archer that? Dumbass actually took his dog into space and on a diplomatic mission to an alien world, and guess what? It pissed on the aliens' sacred plants. Say what you will about Janeway, but she at least had the good sense to leave her dog at home.
When I first saw this, I was a twelve-year-old diehard Trekkie who didn’t know or cared about Frasier, but I chuckled at a few bits. All these years later and watching Frasier in its entirety, it’s a lot funnier than I remember. Also, can you guess which of the five actors have also appeared on Cheers?
All but Niles, I believe. Just watched Cheers in it's entirety recently. I know dad, Roz, and Janeway did for certain and I think Daphne did as well but not 100% certain. I'm relatively certain Niles and Eddie didn't.
blackjac5000 Nelson Butterworth It's true! However, in an episode of Frasier, Kelsey's character read what he thought was something in Hebrew at a Bar Mitzvah, and it turned out to be Klingon! That's about as close as you'll get to Kelsey Grammer playing a Klingon. :)
Almost finished with Fraiser and ST: Voy is my favorite. This was a little naughty, but also de-freaking-lightful. We didn't (still don't) have much interest in awards shows, but this would've been fun to see back in the 90s.
Actually Kelsey Grammer wasn't available for filming this scene if you listen to the voice he doesn't sound anything like Kelsey Grammer, i think the klingon was played by Brian Stokes Mitchell who played Cam Winston on Frasier, google Kelsey Grammer memory alpha and go to the Frasier and Cheers section
Actually, I believe this was filmed right around the same time that Kelsey Grammar was in rehab (he also doesn't appear in Frasier around the beginning of the third season for the same reason). I think he flipped his car and went to Betty Ford for cocaine. They rewrote it at the last minute to have Kate Mulgrew play the captain.
But given that Kelsey had already appeared in TNG as a different captain, it make sense to not have him regardless: th-cam.com/video/6S4vwZkIvy0/w-d-xo.html
1:58 and 2:54-3:29 LOL. So Roz finds the red alert siren annoying just like Picard does in the TNG pilot episode "Encounter at Farpoint" when he says "Shut off that damn noise!". Who was that playing the Klingon?
First saw this over a year ago and had no idea Kelsey was the klingon.....finally pointed out to me last week and smacked myself on the forehead for not catching it.
It wasn't Kelsey Grammer, I believe it was Brian Stokes Mitchell, Frasier's upstairs neighbor who once lowered a giant American flag over Frasier's balcony.
Not a bad script, mostly accurate. I'm surprised with the cast pulling it off so well, I doubt many of them are actual trekkies. The only thing that ruined it in the end, was the Klingon saying 'intergalactic war'. We all know Klingons and the federation are not even from different quadrants, let alone from different galaxies, lol!
I thought Earth and Federation space was mostly in the Alpha quadrant, and Kronos/Q'uonos (spelling?) and Klingon territory was mostly in the Beta quadrant.. They just happen to be close to the border bewteen quadrants and are theirfore neighbours.
They say intergalactic pretty interchangeably in sci-fi. It's only in the past couple years that the producers account for the fans noticing this kind of thing
Which is funny, because it does appear in Fraiser. The episode where Fraiser supports a local politician, and during a break filming a commercial, the politician admits to Fraiser that he met aliens. When Frasier talks about it and asks Niles to see the politician professionally, Niles responds, "I'm a doctor, not a miracle worker!'
OMG seeing the cast of Frasier playing themselves as Star Trek characters just made my night. I've never seen this before, but I know Star Trek well and Frasier is my favorite show ever so this is a special treat for me, lol
My thoughts exactly.
The fact that nobody cracked up laughing is a testament to their acting skills.
I woulda lost it
Martin is even sitting in his recliner, where No Chair Has Gone Before.
They put Archie Bunker's chair in the Smithsonian, I believe Martin's chair is much more famous and should be placed on display there as well. Good ole' 'dirt pile 1957'!!
And it’s made from material from the TOS era, no less.
I discovered this in 2024. Growing up, when my brother and I were in our pre-teens, whenever Frasier was on TV, we were GLUED to the screen. You spit out your coffee? Janeway would be disappointed at this waste of a valuable resource.
How in the hell am I only just knowing that this exists right now?
This alone justifies the continuing existence of TH-cam.
"Justifies the continuing existence of TH-cam" judging how things are going 5 years after your comment I agree.
Man. Kate Mulgrew stays in-character, flawless!
"Are we gonna fly this thing or are you just gonna yak, yak, yak?"
😅😅
Classic Martin Crane!!
"Captian we have an unidentified vessel approchi.....Bloody hell! she's really movin...."
"That wasn't a pet-that was a date" My favorite line from this skit!
“My brand new romulan loafers were singed beyond recognition!”
"Sounds like this Alberian is boldly about to go where so many men have gone before".

Just don't cast a younger more attractive female on the show and everything will be fine. Oh wait.
She was part of Cheers for a while too.
Star Trek: Voyager II-- The Seattle Crew; this SO needs to be made a series.
OMG. This would have been marriage made in heaven.
Imagine Niles, meeting the Doctor.
Omggg yes and Martin & Neelix having some version of a beer 🍻😂
Imagine if David Hyde Pierce was playing the EMH Mark 2 instead of whatever unfortunate casting decision they made for that episode.

The mere fact that I am just now discovering this is almost traumatizing. LOVE it
Just sent it to my parents who were huge fans of Frasier. They loved this...LOVED IT!
This is great! This is great!
Kelsay Grammer actually played a captain in TNG. :)
Yeah, I think he was the Captain of that ship that was caught in a temporal anomaly and kept colliding with the Enterprise over and over. lol

That's the classic Frasier argument, when everyone talks over each other.
Niles: Sounds like this Aldaberian is going to boldly go where SO many men have gone before 😂🤣
I saw this back in 96, in the UK, before Voyager was released on terrestrial TV, BBC2.
This one sketch got me into TWO different TV shows.
How did Mulgrew not piss herself laughing?
By the way, I think a startrek sitcom would be awesome.
Craig Cooper that's the Orville
C Stivers yeah he meant a funny sitcom
She's a professional.
It's called Red Dwarf.
@Michal Bukvai No, that's the "Firefly" sitcom. The "Star Trek" sitcom is called "The Orville."
God bless you. Suffering from fraiser withdrawals since it left Netflix
It's on Paramount+ now.
It's on Paramount like Jerry said and it is also on Hallmark late at night. except during the Christmas season.
The complete run's in Peacock if you have Comcast Xfinity.
Who knew that Klingons were big on gardening?! Azalea bushes LOL!
Even on a spaceship, Niles still has the hots for Daphne. XD
I loved that chair! The chair and Marty's character reminded me of my dad😅
Eddie!!!! I love this segment. The writing genius level is warp 5 😂
Absolutely!!
More like warp 10. When this aired, I laughed so hard I turned into a lizard and then had lizard babies with my commanding officer.

this is amazing i absolutely love Frasier and Voyager. i love how Martin Crane has his chair

I suddenly wish Daphne and Troi had somehow met in canon.
Omg yes! Those characters remind me so much of each other
Hahaha. It's good how they done this. I watch both of these so it was awesome to find this little mashup.
I remember loving this when I was 11 and not quite understanding most of the jokes.
This is what happens when Kelsey Grammer just won't shut up about being on Star Trek while working on Frasier.
They still don't know what to do with those tossed salads and scrambled eggs
Now i know why Seattle has a Space Needle. 😂😆👍
Kelsey wasn't the Klingon, I think it was the guy who played his upstairs rival, Cam Winston.
Yeah, I guess it would have been a bit obvious since Kelsey's actually played a Klingon before. At least I think he has.
Nelson Butterworth Kelsey didn't play a Klingon--John Larroquette did. Kelsey played Morgan Bateson, captain of the USS Bozeman NCC-1941.
blackjac5000 Nelson Butterworth It's true! However, in an episode of Frasier, Kelsey's character read what he thought was something in Hebrew at a Bar Mitzvah, and it turned out to be Klingon! That's about as close as you'll get to Kelsey Grammer playing a Klingon. :)
