I did similar interface to use mic connector as a second CAT. My problem is that I have to go to menu, switch from CAT to Normal and back to CAT to use this connection after radio was turned on. It looks like radio forget that mic socket is set to CAT although CAT is set in menu. Second issue is that when I connect for example from Log4OM VFO jumps from a to b all the time. Anyone has similar behavior?
Hi Chris hunting for advice, trying to select CAT on menu 020, I can't change it it's stuck on the tuner I haven't got a tuner yet saving up for one. I'm trying to get logging software etc running on Win 10 Lappy hope you can shed some light on this dark art for me Cheers M7 HTO Mike R
Look in the manual. There is a menu that selects tuner ATAS cat I think. This must be cat i think. Sorry, I'm stuck in a covid quarantine center for next 12 days & dont have access to anything.

Buttons on mic will not work. Also the remote control mic, will not work with this adapter. It may suck, but that is how Yaesu designed the rigs. Tell them it sucks, not me. I just make an adapter which you could also do if you took the time..

While menu 59 sets the microphone up/down control lines to CAT, RMT or NOR, they are directed to the Cat port on the 2ndCat splitter, not the microphone port which is what you would need. You could make your own splitter but you'd need to 1st switch the lines over to microphone, then go and change menu 59 to RMT each time you wanted remote control.
@@ZL1CVD Mmm ok little disappointed but all ready order it it and I have gotten stuff from you before. Just wanted the 2dn cat for computer control and I guess when I go program at from the computer I'll look into a splitter another question is I'm running control head do I need to put the cat near the radio or can I put it near the head there is a couple of there already that's all you need to do is take that out and put the cat control there please let me know Chris thank you Wally
Thank you for that and the good audio some HAM Guys do videos with very low audio. I think come on we know audio get it sorted. Am having a bash at doing mod to one of my radios so I can have the head off on a lead thinking of audio signal loss also data from the head set to radio.

did fine a cat splitter on ebay that will works with my ft-857 just waiting for the cat port adapter to see if this will work
